LeBlanc ran for leadership of Liberal Party in 2008 but dropped out of the race to endorse Michael Ignatieff, who was later acclaimed leader. With the resignation of Ignatieff after the 2011 federal election LeBlanc was considered a likely candidate in the race to succeed him as party leader, but declined on running.
A finance minister is an executive or cabinet position in charge of one or more of government finances, economic policy and financial regulation. It may also be a junior minister in the finance department, the British Treasury, for example has four junior ministers.
A finance minister's portfolio has a large variety of names across the world, such as "treasury", "finance", "financial affairs", "economy" or "economic affairs". The position of the finance minister might be named for this portfolio, but it may also have some other name, like "Treasurer" or, in the United Kingdom, "Chancellor of the Exchequer".
The duties of a finance minister differ between countries. Typically, they encompass one or more of government finance, fiscal policy, and financial regulation, but there are significant differences between countries:
in some countries the finance minister might also have oversight of monetary policy (while in other countries that is the responsibility of an independent central bank);
This is a list of the top officials in charge of the finances of the Ottoman Empire, called Defterdar (Turkish for bookkeepers; from the Persian دفتردار daftardâr, دفتر daftar + دار dâr) between the 14th and 19th centuries and Maliye Naziri (Minister of Finance) between 19th and 20th centuries. They were originally in charge of the defters (tax registers) in the Ottoman Empire, hence the name "defterdar."
History of the office
The exact date of the formal establishment of the office is unknown. According to some sources, the first defterdar was the Kadı (judge) of Mihaliç, Çelebi bin Mehmed, appointed in 1359 or 1360, during the reign of Murad I. During the reign of Bayezid I (1389–1402), the poet Zahiri is mentioned as the defterdar.
In the classical period, the finances of the Empire were organized under a single Defterdar, literally the main bookkeeper, in charge of a single imperial treasury (Hazine-i Amire). Starting in 1793, smaller treasuries independent of the imperial treasury were organized, each with a separate defterdar in charge. In 1837, a modern ministry was founded under the name of Maliye Nezareti, merging most of the independent treasuries back to the Imperial Treasury. In 1840, the merging of the remaining independent treasuries was completed.
The Finance Minister of Denmark (DanishFinansministeren) is the head of the Ministry of Finance of Denmark, and a member of the Cabinet. As head of the ministry, the minister has responsibility for the ministry's tasks of administrering the state finances via the fiscal policy, and making economic predictions and recommendations.
Canada (i/ˈkænədə/; French: [ka.na.da]) is a country in the northern part of North America. Its ten provinces and three territories extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98million square kilometres (3.85million square miles), making it the world's second-largest country by total area and the fourth-largest country by land area. Canada's border with the United States is the world's longest land border. Canada is sparsely populated, the majority of its land territory being dominated by forest and tundra and the Rocky Mountains; about four-fifths of the country's population of 35 million people live near the southern border. The majority of Canada has a cold or severely cold winter climate, but southerly areas are warm in summer.
The land now called Canada has been inhabited for millennia by various Aboriginal peoples. Beginning in the 15th century, British and French colonies were established on the Atlantic coast, with the first establishment of a region called "Canada" occurring in 1537. As a consequence of various conflicts, the United Kingdom gained and lost territories within British North America until left, in the late 18th century, with what mostly geographically comprises Canada today. Pursuant to the British North America Act, on July 1, 1867, the colonies of Canada, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotiajoined to form the autonomous federal Dominion of Canada. This began an accretion of provinces and territories to the self-governing Dominion to the present ten provinces and three territories forming modern Canada. In 1931, Canada achieved near total independence from the United Kingdom with the Statute of Westminster 1931, and full sovereignty was attained when the Canada Act 1982 removed the last remaining ties of legal dependence on the British parliament.
Provinces of the Anglican Church of Canada are headed by a Metropolitan, elected from among the province's diocesan bishops. This bishop then becomes Archbishop of his or her diocese and Metropolitan of the Province. The current Metropolitan of the Province of Canada is the Most Rev. Percy D. Coffin, Archbishop of Western Newfoundland.

Newly appointed Canadian Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc defended the federal government’s Fall Economic Statement in the House of Commons Tuesday, saying the Trudeau government is “very proud” of its fiscal update.

Newly appointed Canadian Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc defended the federal government’s Fall Economic Statement in the House of Commons Tuesday, saying the Trudeau government is “very proud” of its fiscal update.
LeBlanc said the economic statement would support “Canadians with serious affordability challenges.”
Conservative MP Andrew Scheer called the political turmoil resulting from former finance minister Chrystia Freeland’s bombshell resignation a “gongshow” and called the $62 billion deficit announced in the economic outlook a “gut punch to Canadians.”
“They’re so proud of that fall budget that they tabled it in the House of Commons and ran,” Scheer said.
Conservatives and the Bloc Quebecois both called for an election, with Bloc Quebecois Leader Yves-Francois Blanchet saying that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “does not have the confidence of the House.”
Jagmeet Singh renewed his call for Trudeau to resign but did not say whether his party would back a Conservative non-confidence motion.

Calls for Trudeau to Resign After His Finance Minister Abandons Ship | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in trouble again. His Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Chrystia Freeland, has resigned. Freeland slammed Trudeau's "costly Political Gimmicks" in her resignation letter. Freeland's departure led the Canadian opposition to demand Trudeau's resignation as well. But Trudeau shows no signs of bowing out. He has appointed a loyalist to the finance minister's post. It seems that Trudeau will forge ahead with his plan to buy himself some popularity.

I'm so sick and tired of, every single song trying to tell me the same thing The message has been said, we all hear it. Its not like it hasn’t been said before. So lift your voices and sing this with me, chose for yourself how you want to be. Stop telling us how to feel, stop telling us what is OK. We’re all able to chose for ourselves, you need to realize this, one day. We all have anger outspoken, we all have love to give, We all have things to fight for, its our own lives we live. I will, lead my own life, you can’t bring us down. We all stand together, not separate but as one. Anger, hatred, and pain, lets let it all out You can, try to bring us down, you wont ever succeed. All of us here share a bond, something unseen. Raise your voices, with me, this is our life to lead. I wont be influenced, by the words you say, This is my life, and I realize this today. The only thing we truly own, are the words we say. The state of mind, is something nobody, can put a stupid fucking price on You will, never, see me sell my mind, to the selfishness of the human kind. Fuck this, stupid way of life, living for your self, living for the strife. Speak your fucking mind, don’t just hold it in, silence is never fucking golden. Ignorance, is the thing, holding us all back. Fear of the unknown, the things we lack. Just remember, that in times of need, All of the ones who don’t pay, begin to bleed. The eternal ghosts, lingering among the dead haunt the future, and become fed on the past. I cant, I wont, accept this fate that society brings to me. We share, a bond unseen, you will never destroy our dream. I wont ever, fall victim to the crimes, of the human mind. The plans society has, will crumble at our feet. I refuse, to give up this dream, I refuse to be told what to feel.
