Paraguay, the Invincibles of the Chaco | Deadliest Journeys
Paraguay has long been isolated by a dictatorship that lasted nearly 35 years, the country is getting back to work, everywhere the economy is taking off, except in the Chaco. The region occupies half of the country and yet it has only one inhabitant per km2. The men try to find a place in the middle of this wild nature with its extreme climate, depending on the season the thermometer goes from zero to 50°. The roads that cross the Chaco are rarely maintained, getting from one point to another takes courage, especially during the winter rains. We followed one of the few drivers to venture there? it is for this reason that the locals nicknamed it Michelin. They call me that because they are tires that resist everything. The German towns in Paraguay with a surge in European immigrants – BBC News
A BBC investigation has discovered that thousands of German nationals have migrated to Paraguay in the last 12 months to escape Covid restrictions and vaccinations in Europe.
But the pandemic is not the only thing driving this new wave of immigration.
Many of the new arrivals say they have become immigrants in Paraguay because they are uncomfortable with Muslim immigrants at home.

The War That Wiped Out 90% of Paraguay’s Male Population | History Documentary
Known as the war of the triple alliance, or simply "the great war" in Paraguay, this 19th century conflict between Paraguay and a massive alliance of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, would almost wipe out the Paraguayan people, leaving just 10% of their pre war male population alive by the time peace was declared.

At 67 he does not receive any pension, so he continues to play transporters in his old van. Despite this inhospitable climate, strange colonies of men and women settle there, under their hands the forest disappears giving way to immense fields. Mennonites dedicate their lives to god and reject any form of modern society? Their dress code dates back to the 18th century and only travel by horse-drawn carriage? These Protestant Christians from Germany and even Alsace are mostly blond with blue eyes and only marry among themselves? The Chaco is also the reign of resourcefulness, you can come across a machine that seems straight out of the movie Mad Max. A vehicle unique in the world, half bus, half truck!

HOLA FROM PARAGUAY --Did you know their first language is NOT Spanish here? It's called Guaraní!
If you are like me 2 days ago, then you know nothing about Paraguay -- so my goal in this video is to introduce and open you mind to this hidden subtropical nation (and culture) in 3 minutes!!
If I am being 100% honest with you, I had very low expectations going into this trip... Most people I know who have been to Paraguay, told me it's boring and not worth my time to visit. Well, I was proven wrong! I love going to places that most people don't visit. It excites me more than anything else.
I was lucky enough to meet up with 2 friends who reached out on Instagram, Niko and his uncle Hernan, who picked me up from the airport and drove me all around Asunción and the countryside for 2 days. We ate amazing food, walked around the city, went to some markets and more -- and it was a lot of fun! I learned a lot about the most homogeneous culture in South America.
Here are 8 things I've discovered about Paraguay, that you might not know.

Today the weather in Asunción is insane: 122 °F or 50°C - The camera turned off automatically a few times, to prevent overheating. We'll walk around the city center or downtown to see what Asunción looks like. We will talk with strangers on the street, we will enjoy their music and also we will taste their most traditional street food.
For these who are looking for new experiences and something different, Paraguay’s capital is the answer. There are tons of things to see and do in Asuncion city. Probably the South America's best kept secret waiting to be discovered. In the heart of the continent, Paraguay is home of unique contrasts, cultural mixes and genuine travel experiences.
