Demos is a think tank based in the United Kingdom with a cross-party political viewpoint. It was founded in 1993 and specialises in social policy, developing evidence-based solutions in a range of areas - from education and skills to health and housing.
Demos also houses the Centre for the Analysis of Social Media, which leads the study of how the rise of the digital world affects politics, policy and decision-making.
The current Chief Executive is Claudia Wood, who joined the think tank in 2009 and previously worked for Tony Blair’s strategy unit.
Demos publishes a quarterly journal, titled Demos Quarterly, which features articles from politicians, academics and Demos researchers.
The organisation is an independently registered educational charity.
History
Demos was founded in 1993 by former Marxism Today editor Martin Jacques, and Geoff Mulgan, who became its first director. It was formed in response to what Mulgan, Jacques and others saw as a crisis in politics in Britain, with voter engagement in decline and political institutions unable in their view to adapt to major social changes. Demos was conceived as a network of networks which could draw together different sources of ideas and expertise to improve public policy.
Voyager is sought after by the Hazari, unyielding bounty hunters of the Delta Quadrant, within a sector of space. Every escape route devised by the crew leads to dangerous battles with the Hazari. At their wit's end, they are suddenly visited by Kurros, the speaker for a small group of highly intelligent aliens that Captain Kathryn Janeway dubs the "Think Tank". Their vessel, safely hidden from the Hazari in sub-space, includes a telepathic module that allows Kurros and his group to quickly communicate and to solve complex problems. As Janeway and Seven of Nine are brought aboard, and Seven given a brief opportunity to experience their telepathic communication, the Think Tank offer their services to Voyager - a means of escaping the Hazari in exchange for a selection of Voyager's technology. Janeway seems pleased with the solution, until she realizes they would also like Seven as part of their payment. Both Janeway and Seven refuse this payment, but Kurros keeps the offer on the table, and offers a free bit of advice for dealing with the Hazari as a good-faith sign of their cooperation.
Tank is a Britishheavy metal band, formed in 1980 by Algy Ward, a former member of The Damned. The band is known as part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement. Tank was often compared to Motörhead as both bands, trios fronted by singing bassists, played a loose, almost punk-styled metal music with often colourful lyrics.
History
Their 1982 debut album, Filth Hounds of Hades, was positively received by both punk and metal fans as well as most critics, regarded now as one of the best albums of the NWOBHM movement. Allmusic critic, Eduardo Rivadavia; described it as "Tank's best album ever, and qualifying it as an essential item in the record collection of any serious '80s metal fan."
As was the case with many other bands of the era, Tank was never able to build on the promise shown by their first album. The band continued on for years through lineup changes and waning commercial fortunes before finally disbanding in 1989. Ward resurrected the band in 1997 playing tour dates around Europe and Japan for a couple of years. A new album, Still At War, emerged in 2002. In August 2006 Ward reported that he was putting the finishing touches on the demos for the next Tank album, Sturmpanzer. The band's website has listed the release date for this album as "TBA" for years.

Bad Boy
Bad Boy is one of Cy-Kill's minions. He is a rough street punk always ready with an insult and looking for a fight. He is actually smarter than he lets on, preferring to let others underestimate him.
Like most Gobots Bad Boy can change form, his alternate mode being a combat jet. He also has hand-blasters. his built-in repair systems can repair most injuries to his body if given enough energy.
Animated series
Bad Boy is featured extensively in "Wolf in the Fold" episode #30. Using an image simulator circuit invented by Herr Fiend, Bad Boy is able to go under cover as the Guardian Heat Seeker. From inside the Guardians Bad Boy is able to leak information to the Renegades. Once it is discovered that there is a traitor among the Guardians Bad Boy tries to frame Leader-1 as the traitor, but he is uncovered by Scooter. Thanks to timely use of the astrobeam he escapes the Guardians.
Storage tanks are containers that hold liquids, compressed gases (gas tank) or mediums used for the short- or long-term storage of heat or cold. The term can be used for reservoirs (artificial lakes and ponds), and for manufactured containers. The usage of the word tank for reservoirs is uncommon in American English but is moderately common in British English. In other countries, the term tends to refer only to artificial containers.
In the USA, storage tanks operate under no (or very little) pressure, distinguishing them from pressure vessels. Storage tanks are often cylindrical in shape, perpendicular to the ground with flat bottoms, and a fixed or floating roof. There are usually many environmental regulations applied to the design and operation of storage tanks, often depending on the nature of the fluid contained within. Above ground storage tanks (AST) differ from underground (UST) storage tanks in the kinds of regulations that are applied.
Reservoirs can be covered, in which case they may be called covered or underground storage tanks or reservoirs. Covered water tanks are common in urban areas.
Demos: A Story of English Socialism is a novel by the English author George Gissing. It was written between late 1885 and March 1886 and first published in April 1886 by Smith, Elder & Co.
Plot summary
It tells the story of a young, lower-class, Radical working-man, Richard Mutimer, who unexpectedly inherits a large fortune. He becomes the leader of a socialist movement and decides to use his inheritance to set up a cooperative factory. However, his new wealth and power serve to highlight the defects of character that he brings from his working-class origin and he begins to treat his workers harshly, as well as abandoning the girl of his own station to whom he had been engaged.
Later in life, Mutimer marries an upper-middle class woman (who does not love him) and stands for Parliament. However, his downfall begins when his wife, Adela, finds a later version of the will that had enriched Mutimer. As this could deprive him of his inheritance, he wants to destroy it but Adela will not permit this and the money goes to the rightful heir. The cooperative factory is shut down and the couple move to London, to live in relative poverty.
1982 Demos is an unreleased set of demo tracks intended for a follow-up album to Black Flag's debut album Damaged (1981). The tracks recorded show the band moving in a riff-driven, heavy metal-inflected direction, away from the pure hardcore punk of the first album. Due to legal issues, the album was never recorded, though most of the tracks were re-recorded for later albums. Though never officially released, the recordings have been widely bootlegged.
History
Following their debut album Damaged, Black Flag debuted a number of songs in their live shows. The songs tended toward being dark, riff-heavy, and heavy metal-like, in contrast to the first album's straight-ahead hardcore punk, and included funk and jazz elements.
Drummer Chuck Biscuits, tired of the group's legal battles, left in the winter of 1982. He was followed by guitarist Dez Cadena, who left in 1983 to form the band DC3.
The recordings have never been officially released, but have been widely bootlegged.
