In 1856 the town of Dresden, about a mile east of the present town of Deep River, was platted. The Whitney brothers operated a store there for about 20 years. When the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad was built, the residents of Dresden moved to be near the railroad, and thus the town of Deep River was established in 1884. The Dresden Cemetery lies about a mile and a half south of the current county road, locally known as the Diamond Trail, just about a quarter mile east of Iowa Highway 21. The town of Tilton was established at the southern border of the township in 1884, as well, although largely lay in Keokuk County.
Deep River(深い河,Fukai kawa) is a novel by Shusaku Endo published in 1993. When he died in 1996, only two novels were chosen to be placed inside his coffin. Deep River was one of them.
Plot summary
The story traces the journey of four Japanese tourists on a tour to India. Each of these tourists goes to India for different purposes and with different expectations. Even though the tour is interrupted when Prime MinisterIndira Gandhi is assassinated by militant Sikhs, each of these tourists finds their own spiritual discovery on the banks of the Ganges River.
One of the tourists is Osamu Isobe. He is a middle-class manager whose wife has died of cancer. On her deathbed she asks him to look for her in a future reincarnation. His search takes him to India, even though he has doubts about reincarnation.
Kiguchi is haunted by war-time horrors in Burma and seeks to have Buddhist rituals performed in India for the souls of his friends in the Japanese army as well as his enemies. He is also impressed by a foreign Christian volunteer who helped his sick friend deal with tragic experiences during the war.
The English River is a tributary of the Iowa River in southeastern Iowa in the United States. The main stem of the river is 37.4 miles (60.2km) long. Including its longest headwaters tributary, the North English River, the total length increases to 89.2 miles (143.6km). Via the Iowa River, it is part of the Mississippi Riverwatershed. The Deep River is a minor tributary of the English River. The towns of North English, South English and Deep River are named for the English and Deep rivers.
Course
The English River flows for much of its course in north and south forks, which join in extreme northwestern Washington County. The English River then flows generally eastwardly for about 37 miles (60km), past the town of Riverside. It joins the Iowa River in northeastern Washington County, 12 miles (19km) south of Iowa City.
North English River
The 51.8-mile-long (83.4km)North English River is the longer of the two forks. It rises just south of Grinnell in western Poweshiek County and flows generally east-southeastwardly through Iowa County, past the town of Guernsey. In Iowa County it collects two minor tributaries, the Deep River and the Middle English River, both of which rise in Poweshiek County and flow eastwardly for short distances.
In the latter half of the 20th century, Iowa's agricultural economy made the transition to a diversified economy of advanced manufacturing, processing, financial services, information technology, biotechnology, and green energy production. Iowa is the 26th most extensive in land area and the 30th most populous of the 50 United States. Its capital and largest city is Des Moines. Iowa has been listed as one of the safest states in which to live. Its nickname is the Hawkeye State.
With the Missouria and the Otoe, the Ioway are the Chiwere-speaking peoples, claiming the Ho-Chunks as their "grandfathers." Their estimated population of 1,100 (in 1760) dropped to 800 (in 1804), a decrease caused mainly by smallpox, to which they had no natural immunity.
Their name has been said to come from ayuhwa ("asleep"). Early European explorers often adopted the names of tribes from the ethnonyms which other tribes gave them, not understanding that these differed from what the peoples called themselves. Thus, ayuhwa is not an Ioway word. The word Ioway comes from Dakotan ayuxbe via French aiouez. Their autonym (their name for themselves) is Báxoje, pronounced [b̥aꜜxodʒɛ] (alternate spellings: pahotcha, pahucha,), which translates to "grey snow". Báxoje has been incorrectly translated as "dusted faces" or "dusty nose", since the Ioway words use different consonants.
IOWA is an independent neo-noir film directed, written and starring Matt Farnsworth. The film follows two young Iowan lovers who decide to cook their own methamphetamine. The film was met with highly negative reviews.
Plot
After his father dies, Esper Harte learns that he may collect on his father's insurance. However, his mother and a crooked cop want to get rid of him so that they can take the money.
Desperate to escape their problems, Esper and his girlfriend, Donna Huffman, decide to cook their own methamphetamine.
The film received negative reviews. Rotten Tomatoes reports 15% of surveyed critics liked it, with a 3.9/10 rating average out of 13 reviews.Metacritic gave it a score of 35/100, indicating "generally unfavorable reviews".
Slant Magazine called the film "stupendously slipshod" and "meandering, amateurish sleaze", while The New York Times criticized the lack of subtlety. In a more positive review, The Village Voice praised the film's energy and acting.Monsters and Critics said "This story and the characters in it are as real as the day is long and faithful to all that is good and bad about growing up with ever shrinking horizons."

What are Iowa's Worst Rural Towns?
Are you looking for an affordable rural Iowa town to buy some real estate? If you just said yes, congratulations, you found a video that may suit your needs. We have been doing a series of videos about great rural towns in the US. The problem is when a place is considered great, it is also expensive. That is how the world is when something is good and most people want it it is expensive. Like a Tesla Model Y with all the safety features and autopilot costs about $80k, most people would want one, a 2002 Pontiac Aztek with a piano wire seatbelt and a couch cushion instead of an airbag goes for $73. You have to chase the possums out of the back yourself.
Today we are looking at affordable rural towns in Iowa and why they are so cheap.
As an added bonus I will tell you about some government ...

The Deep River flows nearby; it is a minor tributary of the English River. The town and its namesake river were named not for the depth of the water in the Deep River, but for the depth of the ravine through which it flows. At some places the banks are 20 ft (6.1 m) above the normal water level.
On May 14, 1970 the local area was subjected to a significant flood on the Deep River which was assessed as having a greater than 50 year recurrence interval. The stream gauge on the Deep River station measured a record stage of 83.85 feet (25.56 m) and with a stream flow of 6,200 cubic feet per second (180 m3/s)
