The City of North Vancouver is relatively densely populated with a number of residential high-rise buildings in the Central Lonsdale and Lower Lonsdale areas.
The City has much in common with the District Municipality of North Vancouver and West Vancouver. Together these three municipalities are commonly referred to as the North Shore. The differences between the two "North Vans" are most apparent to their residents. Other Lower Mainland residents are seldom aware of the difference between the two and refer to both as "North Vancouver".
Deep Cove, or Deepwater as it was first known, is located in the traditional clamming and fishing area of the Squamish Salish native nation who lived for thousands of years and still live in the area. British and Spanish naval explorers scouted Indian Arm in the late eighteenth century, and by the mid-nineteenth century, whales were being caught and flensed on the Cove's shores.
Deep Cove became a popular summer resort for Vancouver residents in the 1910s, with cabins, logging and granite quarrying featuring in the local history. For many years, the focal point of the community included a yacht club, dance hall and general store.
Fear Island is a 2009 thriller television film starring Haylie Duff, Lucy Hale, and Aaron Ashmore. It was directed by Michael Storey. The original title for the film was Deep Cove but later changed to Fear Island confirmed by the movie's trailer. The film has been released only in Canada, Germany, Austria, the UK, and Spain.
Plot
The only survivor of an outing is brought to a police interrogation room where the Detective angrily questions Jenna who says she can't remember what happened. The detective thinks she is the killer of six people. The story of what happened on the island is told through Jenna's flashbacks of memory, after the D.A. appoints a doctor to supervise her interrogation while in the hospital.
After four years together in college, a group of friends, Kyle, Tyler, Ashley, Jenna and Mark meet for a weekend getaway at brothers Kyle and Tyler's family cabin on a secluded island for one last party before they go their separate ways.
Minutes after arriving on the island, a stowaway, Megan, reveals herself. Soon after, the group gets down to partying, drinking, and fooling around. Ashley and Kyle are in the hot tub, while Tyler and Megan are inside doing Tequila shots. Jenna, upset that Mark tagged along at the last minute goes to the dock alone, where Mark finds her to try and set up a truce. Meanwhile, someone is watching Tyler give Megan shots and then Tyler gives Ashley's little dog Tequila in a bowl. Tyler later lets the tipsy dog outside alone, and makes his move on Megan who is willing but says she hasn't done it before as she is only 15. Tyler changes his mind, apologizes and says he was mistaken to try and seduce her. Tyler goes outside to find Ashley and Kyle have discovered blood in their ice bucket and are freaking out.
The District is bounded by the Capilano River to the west, Indian Arm to the east, Burrard Inlet to the south, and the Coast Mountains to the north. It sprawls in an east-west direction across the mountain slopes, and is characterized by rugged terrain and steep and winding roadways. While there is no true urban core within the District, there are a number of separate commercial neighbourhood centres. These include (from west to east): Edgemont Village, Upper Lonsdale, Lynn Valley, Main Street, Parkgate, and Deep Cove.

Quarry Rock Hike in Deep Cove, North Vancouver - Vancouver Trails
Quarry Rock is a favourite Vancouver trail of many hikers. The route follows the eastern portion of the Baden Powell Trail, beginning in Deep Cove, North Vancouver, and takes you to a rocky bluff with a stunning view of Indian Arm and as far away as the downtown buildings.
The trail has a number of wooden stairs and walkways that cross several creeks, so it's not a really easy trail. Hikers should bring good footwear, water, and snacks.
Deep Cove and the start of this trail is VERY busy on weekends and during the summer months, so it's recommended to take the bus. You can take Bus 211 from Burrard Station in downtown Vancouver.
