Located in downtown Toronto near the denomination's national headquarters, the parish, along with Little Trinity Anglican Church, is one of historical flagship low church parishes of the diocese, and is one of the few remaining Anglican churches in Toronto where Morning Prayer is the principal service twice a month (three times in months with five Sundays), rather than the more typical weekly Parish Communion.
The first St. Paul's church opened on June 12, 1842.
The second St Paul's church was constructed in 1860; the current main church in 1913. The two buildings, as well as the parish hall (Cody Hall) are now joined together by an Atrium after the Nehemiah Project renovation and building project.
The vision of St. Paul's Bloor Street is: "By the power and grace of Jesus Christ, we seek to be a transformative community for the city." St. Paul's has extensive outreach, youth, children's and adult programming, and offers Christianity 101 courses for those exploring Christianity. Worship services include a quiet communion service at 8:15 AM, an informal service named "The Bridge" at 9:30 AM and an 11:00 AM traditional service.
The small but densely populated riding covers the area to the north of DowntownToronto. In the past, it had been considered a bellwether riding, having been represented by only three opposition MPs. However, like most Toronto-based ridings, the Liberals have dominated recent elections. Since the Liberals won all but one seat in Ontario in their 1993 landslide, they have won St. Paul's by 15,000 votes or more.

The occupation of London's St Paul's Cathedral by anti-capitalist protesters has lead to another high-profile resignation.
Graeme Knowles, the dean of the cathedral, said the continuing controversy was behind his decision to stand down.
His resignation follows that last week of Giles Fraser, a senior priest who had welcomed the anti-capitalist demonstrators to camp outside the landmark.
Fraser had said he resigned because he feared moves to evict the protesters could end in violence.
Emma Hayward reports from St Paul's.

The Dean of St Paul's on the Church of England and Sexuality
The Dean of St Paul’s has called for the Church of England to consider what accepting same-sex marriage would mean for the future.
The Church of England is seen by many as “toxic” and “oppressive” because of its stance on women and gays, he said. Some gay Christians had even committed suicide because of the pressure of being told they had to be celibate.
Dr David Ison says today: “We need to consider what the acceptance of same-sex marriage in the Church would mean in reality, and how it would be understood in relation to the theology of Christian marriage and the chequered history of that institution, as well as contemporary social practice around sexuality.”

Historic Lowcountry church secures funding for crucial repairs
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — One of the Lowcountry's oldest churches is getting a much overdue repair job.
Some of the needed repairs date back centuries.
"It was founded in 1809 as a congregation and the building was begun in 1811 and finished in 1816," said Peet Dickinson, the dean and rector of Cathedral Church of St. Luke and St. Paul.
The long-standing structure of faith has witnessed its share of history.

The Dean of St Paul's resigned as the anti-capitalist protest outside the cathedral claimed its second victim.
The Right Rev Graeme Knowles's resignation follows that of Canon Chancellor of St Paul's Giles Fraser, who had stood up for the protesters.
He said: "The past fortnight has been a testing time for the chapter and for me personally.
"It has become increasingly clear to me that, as criticism of the cathedral has mounted in the press, media and in public opinion, my position as dean of St Paul's was becoming untenable.
"In order to give the opportunity for a fresh approach to the complex and vital questions facing St Paul's, I have thought it best to stand down as dean, to allow new leadership to be exercised.
"I do this with great sadness, but I now believe that I am no longer the right person to lead the chapter of this great cathedral."
The dean made the initial announcement that the cathedral had closed its doors for the first time since the Second World War.
And as the protesters' controversial presence continued, he asked them to move on, citing health and safety dangers.
His stance was the opposite of the former canon chancellor's.
Mr Knowles said it was not an easy decision to resign and he had enjoyed being dean.
But the protesters' camp has caused a great deal of strain, he said.
He thanked his former colleagues and added: "I would also wish to place on record my thanks to all the staff of the cathedral, both paid and volunteers, who work tirelessly, day by day, to ensure that this amazing place is maintained, and that it is indeed cherished as a place of worship and pilgrimage.
"In recent days, since the arrival of the protesters' camp outside the cathedral, we have all been put under a great deal of strain and have faced what would appear to be some insurmountable issues.
"I hope and pray that under new leadership these issues might continue to be addressed and that there might be a swift and peaceful resolution."
His departure is the second key loss at the cathedral, but part-time chaplain Fraser Dyer also resigned last week, for similar concerns as the canon chancellor.

St. Paul in the winter-Kids are crying for their dinner Quick smoke and a drink, then it's time for bed He said, ";Why do you always seem so down? Is something lost that can't be found?"; You wait, hesitate, and tell him you're okay But it's a lie-You can't look him in the eye 'Cause he won't ever understand you You want to believe, that things will change It worries your heart, oh to feel this strange Bu you can't stop the world-No, from spinning around You'll never stop the rain from falling down, down, down Down, down, down It's colder than I remember, at this time last December The win was blowin' and, the skies are always grey You said someday you're gonna leave that man...realize all that we've planned Start all over again, under the southern sun But it's a lie-You can't look me in the eye Knowin' I won't understand you Yeh I want to believe, oh that things will change And it worries my heart, yeh to feel this strange But I can't stop the world-No, from spinning around You'll never stop the rain from falling down, down, down I hope that you understand-You're always welcome at my door And I hope you understand, that I";m not hoping anymore...hoping anymore Yeh you want to believe, oh that things will change And it worries your heart, mmm to feel this strange But you can't stop the world-No, from spinning around You'll never stop the rain from fallin' down, down, down Down, down, down
