Moss !!
There are thousands of known species of mosses.
But Question is….
What plant group does Moss belong to?
Bryophytes include the various mosses and liverworts that are found commonly growing in moist shaded areas in the hills.
Bryophytes are also called amphibians of the plant kingdom because these plants can live on soil but are dependent on water for sexual reproduction.
The plant body of bryophytes is more differentiated than that of algae.
It is thallus-like...

Mosses are fascinating little plants that you've probably seen growing on tree trunks, rocks, or even pushing up through cracks in the pavement.
Mosses are a type of plant known as a bryophyte, and they've been around for a really long time — over 400 million years! There are about 12,000 different kinds of moss, found all over the world, from damp forests to dry deserts.
Unlike bigger plants, mosses are very simple. They don't have true roots, stems, or leaves like most plants. Instead, they have tiny leaf-like structures, called leaflets, and thin, thread-like structures called rhizoids that they use to attach themselves to surfaces and absorb water.
Mosses are also unique because of how they reproduce. Instead of making seeds like many plants, mosses create tiny particles called spores. The spores are help is a container called a capsule. When the spores are mature, the capsule opens and the spores are released into the air. They float away in the wind or get carried off by water, and if they land in a spot that's just right (usually somewhere damp), they'll grow into a new moss plant.
One of the coolest things about moss is that it can grow in places where many other plants can't. You can find mosses living on rocks, tree barks, and even in the harsh conditions of the Arctic! They don't need a lot of light, so you'll often find them in shady, moist places like the forest floor.
Mosses are important for our environment. They help to prevent soil erosion by gripping onto the soil with their rhizoids. Mosses can also hold a lot of water, which helps keep the soil wet. This is helpful for other plants and some animals, especially when there's not a lot of rain.
So, the next time you spot a patch of moss, take a closer look. These tiny plants have a lot to offer and are an important part of our natural world!

What is the Lifecycle of a Moss?
Long long years ago, a special group of plants with a sense of adventure began making the journey from water to land.
What were these plants ??
It is thallus-like and prostrate or erect and attached to the substratum by unicellular or multicellular rhizoids.
They lack true roots, stem or leaves.
However, They may possess root-like, leaf-like or stem-like structures.
Mosses are small flowerless plants that typically grow in dense green clumps or mats, often in damp or shady locations.
Let’s learn more about Moss and it’s a life cycle
The predominant stage of the life cycle of a moss is the gametophyte which consists of two stages:-
(1) Protonema and
(2) Leafy stage
The first stage is the protonema stage, which develops directly from a spore.
It is a creeping, green, branched and frequently filamentous stage.
The second stage is the leafy stage, which develops from the secondary protonema as a lateral bud.
They consist of upright, slender axes bearing spirally arranged leaves.
They are attached to the soil through multicellular and branched rhizoids.
This stage bears sex organs.
The sex organs are multicellular.
The male sex organ is called the antheridium. They produce biflagellate antherozoids.
The female sex organ called archegonium is flask-shaped and produces a single egg.
The antherozoids are released into the water where they come in contact with archegonium.
An antherozoid fuses with the egg to produce the zygote.
Zygotes do not undergo a reduction division immediately.
They produce a multicellular body called a sporophyte.
The sporophyte is not free-living but is attached to the photosynthetic gametophyte and derives nourishment from it.
Some cells of the sporophyte undergo reduction division or meiosis to produce haploid spores.
These spores germinate to produce gametophyte.

Sea moss has gained popularity on social media due to its numerous health benefits, but what exactly is it, and is it worth the hype?

1:03 What is the purpose of trace minerals?
1:50 Importance of selenium
2:56 Advantages of iodine
3:40 Carrageenan and its effects
Sea moss and sea kelp are both types of seaweed that grow underwater and have similar nutritional value. People have used sea moss on their skin and internally to help with digestion and inflammation.
Sea moss contains various nutrients, including amino acids, fiber, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, and phytonutrients.
One of the standout features of sea moss and other types of seaweed is its high mineral content. This includes trace minerals, which are essential for our health but needed in small amounts.
Trace minerals are crucial in activating enzymes and proteins that aid in various bodily functions. For example, selenium is essential for converting the inactive form of thyroid hormone (T4) to its active form (T3) and supporting immune function.
Sea moss is also a great source of iodine. Iodine is crucial for thyroid health and helps regulate estrogen levels in women.
Unfortunately, most land-grown produce lacks trace minerals. To get enough of these essential minerals, we need to consume foods grown near the ocean or directly from the sea itself.
Some forms of seaweed, including sea moss, contain carrageenan. While this ingredient has been linked to digestive issues, it’s important to distinguish between naturally occurring carrageenan found in sea moss and the artificially added version found in processed foods.

Solresol is a language, invented out of whole cloth by Jean-François Sudre in the 19th century, that used seven musical notes to create all the words that he thought you'd ever need. It did work: so why aren't we all speaking in notes right now?

Moss - The Language of Flowers
Moss.
There are different kinds of Moss, all of which
are greatly admired for their verdure and beauty.
Maternal Love.
Number thy lamps of love, and tell me now
How many canst thou re-light at the stars,
And blush not at their burning? One!--one only!--
Lit while your pulses by one heart kept time,
And fed with faithful fondness to your grave--
(though sometimes with a hand stretched back from heaven)
Steadfast through all things--near when most forgot--
And with its finger of unerring truth
Pointing the lost way in thy darkest hour.
One lamp--thy mother's love--amid the stars
Shall lift its pure flame changeless, and before
The throne of God burn through eternity--
Holy--as it was lit and lent thee here.
N.P. Willis.

【MIR Series】MOSS: An Open Conversational Large Language Model
Conversational large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT and GPT-4 have recently exhibited remarkable capabilities across various domains, capturing widespread attention from the public. To facilitate this line of research, in this paper, we report the development of MOSS, an open-sourced conversational LLM that contains 16 B parameters and can perform a variety of instructions in multi-turn interactions with humans. The base model of MOSS is pre-trained on large-scale unlabeled English, Chinese, and code data. To optimize the model for dialogue, we generate 1.1 M synthetic conversations based on user prompts collected through our earlier versions of the model API. We then perform preference-aware training on preference data annotated from AI feedback. Evaluation results on real-world u...

Solresol is a language, invented out of whole cloth by Jean-François Sudre in the 19th century, that used seven musical notes to create all the words that he thought you'd ever need. It did work: so why aren't we all speaking in notes right now?

Moss.
There are different kinds of Moss, all of which
are greatly admired for their verdure and beauty.
Maternal Love.
Number thy lamps of love, and tell me now
How many canst thou re-light at the stars,
And blush not at their burning? One!--one only!--
Lit while your pulses by one heart kept time,
And fed with faithful fondness to your grave--
(though sometimes with a hand stretched back from heaven)
Steadfast through all things--near when most forgot--
And with its finger of unerring truth
Pointing the lost way in thy darkest hour.
One lamp--thy mother's love--amid the stars
Shall lift its pure flame changeless, and before
The throne of God burn through eternity--
Holy--as it was lit and lent thee here.

This video showcases a couple of features that enhance the experience of the PSVR game "Moss" for Deaf gamers: (1) proper rendering of subtitles that do not obstruct line of sight, and (2) the protagonist talking to the gamer in American Sign Language.
Video description/transcript:
[Title screen:]
(1) Translucent subtitles that don't block the line of sight to key elements of the VR environment
[Fade to scene showing a forest environment with a small white mouse walking up toward the player]
[Subtitle with white font on black background with 50% translucency hovering in center right of screen:]
Quill was out adventuring beyond the edge of the Clearing. Dusk was creeping in, but she wondered what she might find if she went just a litter farther...
[Fade to title screen:]
(2) The protagonist talks to you ... in ASL
[Fade back to forest scene]
[The white mouse bends over and picks up a brown backpack, then slings it over its shoulder]
[A green light from the direction of the player fades in and gradually brightens]
[The mouse stumbles backward in surprise]
[Movement close-up to the mouse]
[The mouse signs in ASL toward the direction of the player:]
What are you?
[Cross-fade to scene showing a canyon with a staircase-like arrangement of boulders. The mouse is climbing up while moving toward the player.]
[The mouse jumps over a gap]
[A green-blue metal block, recessed in a stone cliff, becomes visible. The block looks as if it fits the size of another gap in the boulders.]
[The mouse moves toward the gap.]
[A ghostly blue outline of the PS4 DualShock controller flashes with the L2/R2 buttons highlighted]
[Fade to close-up of the mouse]
[The mouse signs in ASL:]
Help me please
[The mouse points to the metal block:]

Evaluation results on real-world use cases and academic benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches. In addition, we present an effective practice to augment MOSS with several external tools. Through the development of MOSS, we have established a complete technical roadmap for large language models from pre-training, supervised fine-tuning to alignment, verifying the feasibility of chatGPT under resource-limited conditions and providing a reference for both the academic and industrial communities. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11633-024-1502-8

Have your baby or toddler learn with a real teacher, Ms Rachel! In this video Ms Rachel will teach key milestones and model activities that promote your baby’s brain growth and development. Babies can watch and learn while caregivers also learn the best ways to play, interact and promote learning throughout the day.
Ms Rachel is a master at encouraging speech, language development, imaginative play, social emotional development and is always sneaking in important learning concepts! Ms Rachel’s methods and curriculum are backed by experts and research in the early childhood development field.
If your child is not meeting milestones, let your pediatrician know and call early intervention for your state. Your child may qualify for free or low cost therapies such as speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy. You can also contact a private speech therapist (speech language pathologist) for an evaluation. It’s best to act early and get your child help as soon as possible.
In this video Ms Rachel models:
First words such as mama, dada, uh-oh, ball, animal sounds, and car sound effects
First sentences such as “What’s that?” “I did it” and “I want toys!”
Gestures, which are shown to promote language development (Babies who use more gestures 9-16 months use more verbal language two years later) You can try for 16 gestures by 16 months old.
Milestones such as clapping, waving, copying gestures, blow a kiss, point to one or more body parts, shaking head “no,” nodding “yes,” pointing with index finger, hold a toy and shake it, give a high five, quiet sign, smile at people, copy facial expressions like smiling and frowning, find hidden things easily, knows what things are for such as a telephone, brush and spoon.
Fun games to play with baby such as Peek-A-Boo, Pat-A-Cake, This Little Piggy, Blowing bubbles, rolling a ball, with baby, stacking blocks, using shape sorters, puzzles and more!
Fun songs that promote learning and language such as
Wheels on The Bus
