Pu is a Chinese word meaning "unworked wood; inherent quality; simple" that was an early Daoist metaphor for the natural state of humanity, and relates with the Daoist keyword ziran (literally "self so") "natural; spontaneous". The scholar Ge Hong (283-343 CE) immortalized pu in his pen nameBaopuzi "Master who Embraces Simplicity" and eponymous book Baopuzi.
Both 樸 and 朴 are classified as radical-phonetic characters, combining the semantically significant "tree" radical木 (commonly used for writing names of trees and wooden objects) with the phonetic indicators pu菐 and bu卜.
The artists credited on the sleevenotes are Adrian Sherwood, Bob, Bonjo I (African Head Charge), Brian Pugsley, Coal (Colin Latter), Smuff, Kenny, Wellington, Lu, Martin, Paul White, Ray Shulman, Shal, Style Scott (Dub Syndicate), Sue Churchill, Tan and Tim.

Master Yanqing Ding demonstrating 26 Movement Pudao
All Chinese polearms fall under the category of Dadao, which literally means “big knife (大刀).” While the character dao is conventionally translated as “knife,” it may refer to any large blade that is curved. The character pu (朴) in Pudao can mean “simple” or “unadorned,” or even “sincere.” Today, Pudao refers to the generic polearm, which is a two-handed weapon consisting of a broad steel blade mounted on a wood or metal shaft.
Master Yanqing Ding has trained martial arts since childhood. He is a layman disciple of Shaolin Temple and has demonstrated for China’s President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao and Russia’s leader Vladimir Putin. He is the head master of International Chi Institute in Alameda, California.

Confessions of a Tangki (Taoist Medium)
People view taoist mediums with both fear and reverence. Taoist rituals involving underworld gods can be shocking for the modern folks whose idea of religious practices are peaceful and subdued.
When the deities take over the medium's body, they usually converse in ancient dialect and can appear to be rather hostile in their mannerism. In Chinese mythology, Hei Bai Wu Chang 黑白無常 are two deities who dress in black and white respectively and in charge of escorting the spirits of the dead to the ruler of Underworld. Depending on the person it encounters, the Hei Bai Wu chang can appear as either a benevolent deity who rewards the person for doing good deeds or a malevolent deity who punishes the person for committing evil. What is Taoism?
Toaism is a religious or philosophical tradition of Chinese origin which emphasizes living in harmony with the Tao, or 'Way'. The Tao is a fundamental idea in most Chinese philosophical schools; in Taoism, however, it denotes the principle that is the source, pattern and substance of everything that exists.

Locally, they are also referred to as Tua Li Ya Pek or Dua Di Ah Pek, which means "Big and Second Brother".

Sun Bu'er (Sun Pu-erh, Chinese: 孫不二), one of the Taoist Seven Masters of Quanzhen, lived c. 1119–1182 C.E. in the Shandong province of China. At the age of 51 she took up the study of the Dao and became a disciple of Wang Chongyang, serving as a Taoist priestess. She eventually left her home and traveled to the city of Luoyang where after twelve years of practice, at Fengxiangu cave, she attained the Dao and, it is said, became an immortal. Sun was a teacher with several disciples, founding the Purity and Tranquility School, and wrote many poems.
