Dahe Glacier
Dahe Glacier (77°15′19″S 162°00′56″E / 77.25528°S 162.01556°E / -77.25528; 162.01556Coordinates: 77°15′19″S 162°00′56″E / 77.25528°S 162.01556°E / -77.25528; 162.01556) is a glacier flowing northeast between Stone Ridge and Wise Ridge in the Saint Johns Range of Victoria Land. It terminates as a hanging glacier on a bluff 200 m above the head of the Debenham Glacier. Named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in 2005 after Qin Dahe, Director of the China Meteorological Administration; manager of the Great Wall Station for two years in the 1980s; co-author of studies on distribution, transport and range of chemicals recovered from surface snow and ice cores in traverses from Zhongshan Station to Dome Argus, 1996-2002.

Glacier
A glacier (US /ˈɡleɪʃər/ or UK /ˈɡlæsiə/) is a persistent body of dense ice that is constantly moving under its own weight; it forms where the accumulation of snow exceeds its ablation (melting and sublimation) over many years, often centuries. Glaciers slowly deform and flow due to stresses induced by their weight, creating crevasses, seracs, and other distinguishing features. They also abrade rock and debris from their substrate to create landforms such as cirques and moraines. Glaciers form only on land and are distinct from the much thinner sea ice and lake ice that form on the surface of bodies of water.
On Earth, 99% of glacial ice is contained within vast ice sheets in the polar regions, but glaciers may be found in mountain ranges on every continent except Australia, and on a few high-latitude oceanic islands. Between 35°N and 35°S, glaciers occur only in the Himalayas, Andes, Rocky Mountains, a few high mountains in East Africa, Mexico, New Guinea and on Zard Kuh in Iran. Glaciers cover about 10 percent of Earth's land surface. Continental glaciers cover nearly 5 million square miles or about 98 percent of Antarctica's 5.1 million square miles, with an average thickness of 7,000 feet (2,100 m). Greenland and Patagonia also have huge expanses of continental glaciers.

Glacier (wrestler)
Raymond M. Lloyd (born May 13, 1964) is an American martial artist, professional wrestler, and actor. He is best known for his appearances with World Championship Wrestling from 1996 to 1999 under the ring name Glacier.
Early life
Lloyd was born into a law-enforcement family in Brunswick, Georgia. His father, Harold, served as a commander with the Georgia State Patrol for 28 years, while his mother, Lois, worked with the Georgia Driver's License Division prior to her retirement in 1999, and his fraternal twin brother, Ron, is a state trooper. Lloyd graduated from Brunswick High School in 1982, and played offensive tackle for the football team all four years. In his senior year, he became the school's first All-State player. He also competed for the track and field team, in the shot put and discus.
A skilled martial artist, Lloyd took up Hung Ga at fourteen, later adding other disciplines such as Judo and Kempo. His school was owned and taught by a former government agent and a U.S. Marshal, before it closed to the public in 1982. In 1983, he began competing for the World Karate Association in full-contact tournaments, eventually winning the United States Southeastern Super Heavyweight title. During his WKA stint, he was never knocked out or even knocked down; his only loss came on a disqualification for stalling, which he attributed to nervousness. However, when the WKA changed its rules in 1985 to allow kicks from the knee up (they were previously only from the waist up), Lloyd opted to retire from competition in order not to jeopardize his football scholarship by risking injury. He played center for Valdosta State University (the same alma mater as former WCW announcer Scott Hudson), under coach Mike Cavan, and was a teammate of former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Jessie Tuggle during his collegiate career.

Glacier (band)
Glacier (styled as GLACIER) is a visual kei rock band from Okinawa, Japan. Makoto, Nao and Aki have been friends since they were elementary schoolchildren. The three members started the band in Okinawa. They released a CD single Nangoku Shōjo from a Japanese record label Crown Records on 23 July 2008.
Biography
Glacier means a mass of ice on the mountains or rivers. When the band was in Okinawa, they were not conscious of Okinawa at first. So, when they decided on the band name, they chose the thing which is not in Okinawa. But, since they used Okinawan scale, their music style might be categorised as Okinawan music.
After the band moved to Tokyo, they thought that they should open their Okinawan spirits which were hiding inside. They expressed the intention on the lyrics of the title song "Nangoku Shōjo" from the first CD single Nangoku Shōjo. Makoto, who wrote the lyrics, told that he constructed the words for the listeners to remind southern islands because he wanted them to understand easily the band's hometown and feelings. From this way of thinking, the band has began to wide the Okinawan club pops as the point in their Okinawan entertainment.

According to the population census conducted by the Institut National de la Statistique Benin on February 15, 2002, the arrondissement had a total population of 14,622.

Animation: How a Glacier Melts
When warm summer air melts the surface of a glacier, the meltwater bores holes down through the ice. It makes its way all the way down to the bottom of the glacier where it runs between the ice and the glacier bed, and eventually shoots out in a plume at the glacier base and into the surrounding ocean. The meltwater plume is lighter than the surrounding ocean water because it doesn't contain salt. So it rises toward the surface, mixing the warm ocean water upward in the process. The warm water then rubs up against the bottom of the glacier, causing even more of the glacier to melt. This often leads to calving – ice cracking and breaking off into large ice chunks (icebergs) – at the front end, or terminus of the glacier. Ice calving, also known as glacier calving or iceberg calving, is the breaking of ice chunks from the edge of a glacier. It is a form of ice ablation or ice disruption. It is the sudden release and breaking away of a mass of ice from a glacier, iceberg, ice front, ice shelf, or crevasse. The ice that breaks away can be classified as an iceberg, but may also be a growler, bergy bit, or a crevasse wall breakaway.
Calving of glaciers is often accompanied by a loud cracking or booming sound before blocks of ice up to 60 metres high break loose and crash into the water. The entry of the ice into the water causes large, and often hazardous waves. The waves formed in locations like Johns Hopkins Glacier can be so large that boats cannot approach closer than three kilometres. These events have become major tourist attractions in locations such as Alaska.

Another widespread misconception is that Glacier debuted in September of 1996 on WCW Monday Nitro against Big Bubba Rogers (R.I.P.). He actually debuted shortly before that on WCW Worldwide. His first match was against The Gambler. Another interesting fact is that Glacier's "Cryonic Kick" finishing move has changed three times since his debut in WCW. First, as seen in this match, it is a flying jump kick off the top turnbuckle. The second version was a spinning crescant kick to the head. The third and current version of it is a slightly modified standing side kick to the head which is typically used in traditional Japanese Karate. Wrestling Bios Presents - The Story of Glacier in WCW
When Eric Bischoff created WCW Nitro and began turning the corner in regards to the success of World Championship Wrestling, one of his mantras was to create a more reality based television show in comparison to the WWF's Raw broadcasts. With the introduction of The Outsiders in WCW, this mantra came to fruition. However, there seems to be exceptions to every rule when it comes to Eric Bischoff, because he also decided to create The Glacier character, a character he thought would be big money.
The WCW debut of Glacier was but on hold as the nWo storyline took over WCW programming in mid 1996. This didn't stop WCW constantly airing vignettes and hype videos regarding the debut of this Sub Zero inspired character. In maybe a case of too much hype, Glacier eventually made his debut on TV screens and the similarities to another huge selling franchise at the time were really hard to miss. Soon after his debut, Glacier would begin feuding with Mortis and Wrath in a storyline dubbed "Blood Runs Cold", and in a reality based WCW, things didn't go quite the way Eric Bischoff envisioned.

Glacier had a tough time in WCW. From his delayed debut in 1996 and his character's inspiration coming from Sub Zero in the Mortal Kombat franchise, to his later days as Coach Buzz Stern and the failed effort to revive the Glacier gimmick in early 2001. Ray Lloyd wasn't a bad wrestler, he was just always given some really bad stuff to work with. Debuting around the same time as the nWo didn't do Glacier any favours either, the nWo represented a change in professional wrestling while the Glacier gimmick seemed like something from wrestling's past.

When warm summer air melts the surface of a glacier, the meltwater bores holes down through the ice. It makes its way all the way down to the bottom of the glacier where it runs between the ice and the glacier bed, and eventually shoots out in a plume at the glacier base and into the surrounding ocean.
The meltwater plume is lighter than the surrounding ocean water because it doesn't contain salt. So it rises toward the surface, mixing the warm ocean water upward in the process. The warm water then rubs up against the bottom of the glacier, causing even more of the glacier to melt. This often leads to calving – ice cracking and breaking off into large ice chunks (icebergs) – at the front end, or terminus of the glacier.

Ice calving, also known as glacier calving or iceberg calving, is the breaking of ice chunks from the edge of a glacier. It is a form of ice ablation or ice disruption. It is the sudden release and breaking away of a mass of ice from a glacier, iceberg, ice front, ice shelf, or crevasse. The ice that breaks away can be classified as an iceberg, but may also be a growler, bergy bit, or a crevasse wall breakaway.
Calving of glaciers is often accompanied by a loud cracking or booming sound before blocks of ice up to 60 metres high break loose and crash into the water. The entry of the ice into the water causes large, and often hazardous waves. The waves formed in locations like Johns Hopkins Glacier can be so large that boats cannot approach closer than three kilometres. These events have become major tourist attractions in locations such as Alaska.

Dahe Glacier
Dahe Glacier (77°15′19″S 162°00′56″E / 77.25528°S 162.01556°E / -77.25528; 162.01556Coordinates: 77°15′19″S 162°00′56″E / 77.25528°S 162.01556°E / -77.25528; 162.01556) is a glacier flowing northeast between Stone Ridge and Wise Ridge in the Saint Johns Range of Victoria Land. It terminates as a hanging glacier on a bluff 200 m above the head of the Debenham Glacier. Named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in 2005 after Qin Dahe, Director of the China Meteorological Administration; manager of the Great Wall Station for two years in the 1980s; co-author of studies on distribution, transport and range of chemicals recovered from surface snow and ice cores in traverses from Zhongshan Station to Dome Argus, 1996-2002.

Another widespread misconception is that Glacier debuted in September of 1996 on WCW Monday Nitro against Big Bubba Rogers (R.I.P.). He actually debuted shortly before that on WCW Worldwide. His first match was against The Gambler. Another interesting fact is that Glacier's "Cryonic Kick" finishing move has changed three times since his debut in WCW. First, as seen in this match, it is a flying jump kick off the top turnbuckle. The second version was a spinning crescant kick to the head. The third and current version of it is a slightly modified standing side kick to the head which is typically used in traditional Japanese Karate. Now that you have your Glacier facts straight, enjoy the video. This is a pretty good match and it really showcases Glacier's ability to combine martial arts and Pro Wrestling which is one of my favorite Pro Wrestling styles. It also shows Glacier's amazing agilty (especially considering that he IS a heavyweight) combined with the most awesome ring entrance I've seen to date! Please rate and comment.

Wrestling Bios Presents - The Story of Glacier in WCW
When Eric Bischoff created WCW Nitro and began turning the corner in regards to the success of World Championship Wrestling, one of his mantras was to create a more reality based television show in comparison to the WWF's Raw broadcasts. With the introduction of The Outsiders in WCW, this mantra came to fruition. However, there seems to be exceptions to every rule when it comes to Eric Bischoff, because he also decided to create The Glacier character, a character he thought would be big money.
The WCW debut of Glacier was but on hold as the nWo storyline took over WCW programming in mid 1996. This didn't stop WCW constantly airing vignettes and hype videos regarding the debut of this Sub Zero inspired character. In maybe a case of too much hype, Glacier eventually made his debut on TV screens and the similarities to another huge selling franchise at the time were really hard to miss. Soon after his debut, Glacier would begin feuding with Mortis and Wrath in a storyline dubbed "Blood Runs Cold", and in a reality based WCW, things didn't go quite the way Eric Bischoff envisioned.

Glacier had a tough time in WCW. From his delayed debut in 1996 and his character's inspiration coming from Sub Zero in the Mortal Kombat franchise, to his later days as Coach Buzz Stern and the failed effort to revive the Glacier gimmick in early 2001. Ray Lloyd wasn't a bad wrestler, he was just always given some really bad stuff to work with. Debuting around the same time as the nWo didn't do Glacier any favours either, the nWo represented a change in professional wrestling while the Glacier gimmick seemed like something from wrestling's past.
