Vaughn grew up in Collingswood, New Jersey, and his interest in music began at age 6 when his uncle gave him a Duane Eddy record. His group, "The Ben Vaughn Combo," released two albums and toured the U.S. from 1983 to 1988. Vaughn then had a solo career, 1988–1994, recording four albums and touring Europe and the United States.
Vaughn is a longtime fan of Rambler automobiles, and in 1988 recorded a song called "El Rambler Dorado" on his album Blows Your Mind. As a musician, he is perhaps best known for his album Rambler '65, for which he decided to "cut out the middleman" and recorded the entire album in his 1965 Rambler American. Vaughn turned his car into a makeshift studio by putting the recording equipment inside his car. Whether it was a gimmick or an act of showmanship, the music he created inside his car was, according to most reviews, "timeless" rock'n'roll. The Rambler '65 24-minute music video for this album also includes vintage AMC TV advertising clips.
A railroad tie/railway tie/crosstie (North America), or railway sleeper (UK and Australasia) is a rectangular support for the rails in railroad tracks. Generally laid perpendicular to the rails, ties transfer loads to the track ballast and subgrade, hold the rails upright and keep them spaced to the correct gauge.
Railroad ties were traditionally made of wood, but pre-stressed concrete is now widely used, especially in Europe and Asia. Steel ties are common on secondary lines in the UK; plastic composite ties are also employed, although far less than wood or concrete. As of January 2008, the approximate market share in North America for traditional and wood ties was 91.5%, the remainder being concrete, steel, azobé (red ironwood) and plastic composite.
Coarse aggregate is the standard material for track ballast, which provides drainage and resilience. On lines with lower speeds and axle-weights, sand, gravel and even coal ash from the fires of steam locomotives have been used.

Railway Sleeper Decoration Ideas For Indoor And Outdoor
Railway sleepers are one of the simplest materials to use when making your own furniture – they are already thick and fairly uniform, so you essentially just need to stack them properly and make sure that they don’t move, rather than having to sand, and shape everything especially.
Sleepers are heavy, so it’s important that you either know that you can lift everything yourself or have someone to help you to avoid injury to your muscles. Fortunately, that weight means that they have a luxury feel and are extremely sturdy – you definitely won’t mistake your railway sleepers for flat packed furniture!

What's the Deal with Railroad Ties? | History in the Dark
Though they've been a constant in railroading, we don't often think of the cuboid things in-between the rails. Whether you call them ties or sleepers, they're there to hold the rails still and make sure everything stays as it should be.
