Dorothy Marie "Dottie" West (October 11, 1932 – September 4, 1991) was an American country music singer and songwriter. Along with her friends and fellow recording artists Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn, she is considered one of the genre's most influential and groundbreaking female artists. Dottie West's career started in the 1960s, with her Top 10 hit, "Here Comes My Baby Back Again", which won her the first Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance in 1965. In the 1960s, West was one of the few female country singers working in what was then a male-dominated industry, influencing other female country singers like Lynn Anderson, Crystal Gayle, Barbara Mandrell, Dolly Parton, and Tammy Wynette. Throughout the 1960s, West had Top 10 and Top 20 hits on the country music charts.
In the early 1970s, West wrote a popular commercial for the Coca-Cola company, titled "Country Sunshine", which reached No. 2 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles in 1973. In the late-70s, she teamed up with country pop superstar, Kenny Rogers for a series of duets which took her career to new highs, earning Platinum selling albums and No. 1 records for the very first time. Her duet recordings with Rogers, "Every Time Two Fools Collide", "All I Ever Need Is You", and "What Are We Doin' In Love", became country music standards. In the mid-1970s, her image and music underwent a metamorphosis, bringing her to the very peak of her popularity as a solo act, and reaching No. 1 for the very first time on her own in 1980 with "A Lesson in Leavin'".
Country Sunshine is an album by Country music singer, Dottie West (released in 1973) based on the successful commercial/Country song of "Country Sunshine".
This album was based on the largely successful Coca-Cola commercial entitled "Country Sunshine". The commercial featured West singing a song she wrote along with commercial writer, Billy Davis, also entitled the same name. The commercial was so successful, a Country single was recorded in 1973, that hit No. 2 on the Country charts and No. 49 on the Pop charts, her biggest hit up to that point. Thanks to the song's success, this album of the same name was also made, which also brought large success to West. The album reached No. 17 on the Top Country albums chart, her first Top 20 entry on an album chart since the late 60s.
"Country Sunshine" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Dottie West, which is remembered both as one of West's biggest chart hits, as well as a Coca-Cola jingle in a popular commercial. It was released in September 1973 as the first single and title track from the album Country Sunshine. West wrote the song with Billy Davis and Diane Whiles.
"Country Sunshine" is about a person persuaded to leave a small town to go to the big city with a love interest. Because the person likes living in the country, and was "raised on country sunshine", the offer is declined.
Prior to "Country Sunshine", Davis had co-written the song "I'm Your Country Girl" with West which had been featured in a Coca Cola commercial as recorded by West: West had been recruited to write this earlier Coca-Cola jingle after a McCann-Erickson associate heard her 1968 single "Country Girl.

Dottie West Rocky Top Lyrics
Wish that I was on old Rocky Top down in the Tennessee hills
Ain't no smoggy smoke on Rocky Top ain't no telephone bills
Once I had a man on Rocky Top half bear the other half cat
Wild as a mink but sweet as soda pop and I still dream about that
Oh Rocky Top, you'll always be home sweet home to me
Good ole Rocky Top, Rocky Top, Tennessee Rocky Top, Tennessee
