The lost village of Coton is located around the environs of the hamlet of Coton and Coton Manor House in the English county of Northamptonshire.
History
The lost village of Coton has an entry as an independent manor in the Domesday Book of 1086. Then the population was recorded as nine residents. Not much else is known after that survey about Coton until the 17th century when it was recorded that there were eight households paying the 1673 Hearth Tax. In 1791 there were 17 houses in the village. By 1839 this number had reduced to 15.
Remains Today
Coton lies entirely along today’s single street that runs through the hamlet. On the western side of the street today there are no dwellings but in 1839 records show that there were six dwellings and a farm to the north of these; all have now been destroyed. Also the land between the main street and the valley below shows signs of paddocks, platforms and closes in the form of earthworks in the recent past. Unfortunately much of these earthworks have been ploughed out in recent times.
Covering an area of 2,364 square kilometres (913 sq mi), Northamptonshire is landlocked between eight other counties: Warwickshire to the west, Leicestershire and Rutland to the north, Cambridgeshire to the east, Bedfordshire to the south-east, Buckinghamshire to the south, Oxfordshire to the south-west and Lincolnshire to the north-east – England's shortest county boundary at 19 metres (62ft). Northamptonshire is the southernmost county in the East Midlands region.
The constituency consisted of the historic county of Northamptonshire. Although the county contained a number of parliamentary boroughs, each of which elected one or two MPs in its own right for parts of the period when Northamptonshire was a constituency, these areas were not excluded from the county constituency. Owning freehold property of the required value, within such boroughs, could confer a vote at the county election. (After 1832, only non-resident owners of forty shilling freeholds situated in borough seats could qualify for a county vote on the basis of that property.)

Prithvi Shaw Double Century! | FULL HIGHLIGHTS | 244 in 153 Balls
Prithvi Shaw secured his place in the record books with a magnificent 244 off just 153 balls to set up an 87-run victory over Somerset in the Metro Bank One Day Cup at Wantage Road.
Shaw’s innings was Northamptonshire’s highest ever score in List A cricket and the sixth highest worldwide in List A history.
The Indian international put on a batting masterclass blasting 11 sixes and 28 fours. Along the way he eclipsed his undefeated 227 for Mumbai against Puducherry at Jaipur in 2021. He also moved past Ben Duckett’s 220* for England Lions against Sri Lanka A in 2016 to post the second highest ever List A innings made in England. Only Alistair Brown with 268 for Surrey against Glamorgan at the Oval in 2002 has scored more.

Northamptonshire, let us be clear, is neither north, nor south nor in the Midlands. It floats somewhere between the three eyeing up the distinctiveness of each with envious eyes.
