The size and composition of the gravel-size fraction of a conglomerate may or may not vary in composition, sorting, and size. In some conglomerates, the gravel-size class consist almost entirely of what were clay clasts at the time of deposition. Conglomerates can be found in sedimentary rock sequences of all ages but probably make up less than 1 percent by weight of all sedimentary rocks. In terms of origin and depositional mechanisms, they are closely related to sandstones and exhibit many of the same types of sedimentary structures, e.g., tabular and trough cross-bedding and graded bedding.
A conglomerate is a combination of two or more corporations engaged in entirely different businesses that fall under one corporate group, usually involving a parent company and many subsidiaries. Often, a conglomerate is a multi-industry company. Conglomerates are often large and multinational.
For many years this was enough to make the company's stock price rise, as companies were often valued largely on their return on investment. The aggressive nature of the conglomerators themselves was enough to make many investors, who saw a "powerful" and seemingly unstoppable force in business, buy their stock. High stock prices allowed them to raise more loans, based on the value of their stock, and thereby buy even more companies. This led to a chain reaction, which allowed them to grow very rapidly.
Geology (from the Greek γῆ, gē, i.e. "earth" and -λoγία, -logia, i.e. "study of, discourse") is an earth science comprising the study of solid Earth, the rocks of which it is composed, and the processes by which they change. Geology can also refer generally to the study of the solid features of any celestial body (such as the geology of the Moon or Mars).
The majority of geological data comes from research on solid Earth materials. These typically fall into one of two categories: rock and unconsolidated material.
Country rock is a geological term meaning the rock native to an area. It is similar and in many cases interchangeable with the terms basement and wall rocks.
The term is used to denote the usual strata of a region in relation to the rock which is being discussed or observed.
The following are areas in geology when the term country rock is used;
Intrusive settings; when describing a pluton or dike one may describe the igneous rock as intruding the surrounding country rock, the rock into which the pluton has intruded.
In describing the texture or structure of lit-par-lit (layer by layer) intrusion, the intrusive is described in relation to the country rock or wall rock
Alluvial settings; when describing recent alluvium the material that has arrived through volcanic, glacial or fluvial action can be described as a veneer on the country rock
Geology is a publication of the Geological Society of America (GSA). The GSA claims that it is the most widely read scientific journal in the field of earth science. It is published monthly, with each issue containing 20 or more articles, and an annual total of 1166 pages.
One of the goals of the journal is to provide a forum for shorter articles and less focus on pure academic research type articles.

Conglomerate (geology)
Conglomerate is a coarse-grained clastic sedimentary rock that is composed of a substantial fraction of rounded to subangular gravel-size clasts, e.g., granules, pebbles, cobbles, and boulders, larger than 2 mm in diameter. Conglomerates form by the consolidation and lithification of gravel. Conglomerates typically contain finer grained sediment, e.g., either sand, silt, clay or combination of them, called matrix by geologists, filling their interstices and are often cemented by calcium carbonate, iron oxide, silica, or hardened clay.

Exploring A Massive Gold Deposit & It's Geology!
Prospecting for gold today at a massive exposure of high grade gold ore covering over 2.5 kilometers! High grade gold found in the gossanous rock matrix and gold values in the mineralized rocks. The outcrops have been cemented to form gossan conglomerate like exposures with gold and other minerals. The gold deposit could be massive and cover multiple square kilometers. Iron, silver, copper and other mineral found in the rocks. The deposit covers multiple contact zones, of igneous and metamorphic rocks and has some gold quartz rock as well.

When non-dissolved clasts of rock deposit and then lithify, they make the clastic sedimentary rocks, which tell us much about their environments of deposition.
In this video, we explore sedimentary rocks, including an examination of how they form and the physical characteristics that they display, including layering, fossils, and compacted and cemented sediments.
