Julian Alexander Bream,CBE (born 15 July 1933), is an Englishclassical guitarist and lutenist. One of the most distinguished classical guitarists of the 20th century, he played a significant role in altering the public perception of the classical guitar as a respectable orchestral instrument in England and beyond. Bream has also been successful in renewing popular interest in the lute.
Early years
Bream was born in Battersea, London and brought up in a musical environment in Hampton. Bream described his parents as both "conventional suburban", but in another way "very unusual". His father was a commercial artist, with an "extraordinary talent for drawing" and a "natural musician" according to Bream. Bream would lie under the piano in "ecstasy" when his father played. His mother, of Scottish descent, was a very beautiful woman who was often, according to Bream, "not always there" mentally and didn't like music, but was a warm-hearted person. His grandmother owned a pub in Battersea, and Bream spent much time there during his youth. His father played jazz guitar and the young Bream was impressed by hearing the playing of Django Reinhardt; he would later call his dog "Django".

The Concierto de Aranjuez is a composition for classical guitar and orchestra by the Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo. Written in 1939, it is far and away Rodrigo's best-known work, and its success established his reputation as one of the most significant Spanish composers of the twentieth century.
Inspiration
The Concierto de Aranjuez was inspired by the gardens at Palacio Real de Aranjuez, the spring resort palace and gardens built by Philip II in the last half of the 16th century and rebuilt in the middle of the 18th century by Ferdinand VI. The work attempts to transport the listener to another place and time through the evocation of the sounds of nature.
According to the composer, the first movement is "animated by a rhythmic spirit and vigour without either of the two themes... interrupting its relentless pace"; the second movement "represents a dialogue between guitar and solo instruments (cor anglais, bassoon, oboe, horn etc.)"; and the last movement "recalls a courtly dance in which the combination of double and triple time maintains a taut tempo right to the closing bar." He described the concerto itself as capturing "the fragrance of magnolias, the singing of birds, and the gushing of fountains" in the gardens of Aranjuez.
Aranjuez (Spanish pronunciation:[aɾaŋˈxweθ]) is a town and municipality lying 42 kilometres (26mi) south of Madrid in the southern part of the Madrid Region or Community of Madrid, Spain. It is located at the confluence of the Tagus and Jarama rivers, 44 kilometres (27mi) from Toledo. As of 2009, it had a population of 54,055.
There are several theories about the origin of the name. The most widely accepted one states that it comes from the Basque language, deriving from arantza ("hawthorn" in English). Other theories say that it comes from LatinAra Jovis or Ara Iovia, which means Jupiter's altar, but currently the pre-Roman name is preferred.
