Hispanic and Latino Americans
Hispanic Americans and Latino Americans (Spanish: hispanos [isˈpanos], latinos) are United States citizens, descending from the peoples of the countries of Latin America and Iberia. More generally, it includes all persons in the United States who self-identify as Hispanic or Latino, whether of full or partial ancestry. For the US census in 2010, American Community Survey, people counted as "Hispanic" or "Latino" are those who identify as one of the specific Hispanic or Latino categories listed on the census or ACS questionnaire ("Mexican," "Puerto Rican," or "Cuban") as well as those who indicate that they are "other Spanish, Hispanic, or Latino." The countries or people who are in the Hispanic or Latino American groups as classified by the Census Bureau are the following: Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, El Salvador, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. It is important to note that the Census office of the U.S. excludes Brazilian Americans from the Hispanic and Latino American population (Brazil is part of Latin America, but has a Portuguese language culture rather than a Spanish language culture).

LATIN
LATIN (always referenced in upper case) was a cooperation scheme among 13 newspapers in Latin America which was organized by Reuters and lasted from 1970 until 1981. It was not a news agency per se, but rather a permanent exchange mechanism. In 1975, The New York Times revealed that LATIN was used by the CIA to in covert operations of counterinformation and influencing public opinion in Latin America.
Today, similar schemes are carried through the Periódicos Asociados Latinoamericanos and Grupo de Diarios América.

Complete (complexity)
In computational complexity theory, a computational problem is complete for a complexity class if it is, in a technical sense, among the "hardest" (or "most expressive") problems in the complexity class.
More formally, a problem p is called hard for a complexity class C under a given type of reduction, if there exists a reduction (of the given type) from any problem in C to p. If a problem is both hard for the class and a member of the class, it is complete for that class (for that type of reduction).
A problem that is complete for a class C is said to be C-complete, and the class of all problems complete for C is denoted C-complete. The first complete class to be defined and the most well-known is NP-complete, a class that contains many difficult-to-solve problems that arise in practice. Similarly, a problem hard for a class C is called C-hard, e.g. NP-hard.
Normally it is assumed that the reduction in question does not have higher computational complexity than the class itself. Therefore it may be said that if a C-complete problem has a "computationally easy" solution, then all problems in "C" have an "easy" solution.

extra was a retail store chain in the food sector that's belonged to the REWE Group since 1. July 2008. The company was formerly part of Metro Group.
Company history
The first extra store was opened by the Schaper-Group in Düren in 1970. In the early years, the main part of the branch network was in Lower Saxony and North Rhine Westphalia. extra was integrated into the Asko-Group in 1987, which in turn has been part of Metro Group since 1986. The two sales lines real,- and extra had been merged by Metro Group in 2004, though they continued to appear as two separate brands in the market. The Metro Group sold extra to the REWE Group on 1. July 2008. The brand name extra was announced to be phased out in 2009 and the markets will be named REWE. The franchise supermarkets Comet and Bolle that belong to extra will keep their names initially. To facilitate the sale of extra, the Metro Group split the two companies real,- and extra. The entity's name was then changed to extra Objektgesellschaft mbH. After the sale of extra, the "TiP" products disappear from the markets and are replaced by "Ja!", "REWE" and "REWE Bio" products, the marchandises of the REWE Group.

American (1917 automobile)
The American was an American automobile, built in Plainfield, New Jersey, manufactured from 1917 to 1924. The company also used names American Balanced Six or American Six, "Balanced" referred to its chassis, not the engine. It was an assembled car, one of many built in its time, and it used components from several manufacturers like Borg & Beck for clutch, Warner transmission, Stromberg carburetor and Rutenber engines.
The company was never large; its peak production was 1400 vehicles built in 1920. In that same year a powerful 58 hp Herschell-Spillman six-cylinder engine replaced old 45 hp Rutenber six. American was commonly advertised as a 'Smile Car' because the company believed their cars offered trouble-free miles for their owners. In 1923 the company became associated with the Bessemer Truck Corporation; that October, the company became Amalgamated Motors, incorporating Northway and Winther as well. Before spring of 1924 American car was out of production. The total number of cars produced was about 6000 cars.

American (word)
The meaning of the word American in the English language varies according to the historical, geographical, and political context in which it is used. American is derived from America, a term originally denoting all of the New World (also called the Americas). In some expressions, it retains this Pan-American sense, but its usage has evolved over time and, for various historical reasons, the word came to denote people or things specifically from the United States of America.
In modern English, Americans generally refers to residents of the United States; among native English speakers this usage is almost universal, with any other use of the term requiring specification. However, this default use has been the source of complaint by some residents of Latin America who feel that using the term solely for the United States misappropriates it. They argue instead that "American" should be broadened to include people from anywhere in North or South America, not just the United States; these critics admit their proposed usage is uncommon.

1973 American 500
The 1973 American 500 was a NASCAR Winston Cup Series racing event that took place on October 21, 1973, at North Carolina Motor Speedway in Rockingham, North Carolina. This event would mark the only instance that a NASCAR Cup Series season would end at Rockingham Speedway. Having a 43-car racing grid was a very infrequent case during this era of NASCAR racing. Today, it forms the mandated standards that NASCAR developed over the years.
1973 would become the "year of the smaller engine" while declining sponsorship interests for the drivers resulted in NASCAR keeping the bigger gas-guzzling engines from being abolished from the sport. Following this race, NASCAR started to tighten up on their pre-race inspections as a precautionary measure to ensure that only legal racing components are being used.
Summary
David Pearson would defeat Buddy Baker by at least one lap after four hours of racing. An incredible amount of people would show up for the race; exactly 48,000 people would see 20 different lead changes and five caution flags for a staggering distance of 36 laps. While the average speed of the race was 117.749 miles per hour (189.499 km/h), Richard Petty would clinch the pole position in qualifying for his amazing run that reached 135.748 miles per hour (218.465 km/h). The complete racing grid was 43 American-born drivers; including the last-place finisher Frank Warren who crashed on lap 11 out of the 492 laps that made up the advertised distance. Only manual transmission vehicles were allowed to participate in this race; a policy that NASCAR has retained to the present day.

According to the latest estimates which will likely be corroborated by the United States Census of 2020, Hispanic Americans as a group have now surpassed Germans, Irish, English, Black Americans, Italians and all other ethnic groups in the USA to become the largest "ethnicity" in the country, but is this really accurate?
I've discussed the racial, ethnic and genetic situation of Hispanics and Latinos many times over, and this video is dedicated to highlighting the cultural and racial diversity of Latin Americans and shatter the illusion that they are a homogeneous group, a stereotype perpetuated by Hollywood for generations now. It's time to stop treating Hispanic/Latin Americans as an ethnic/racial group, since it just doesn't make any sense. Thanks for watching!

As a student and lover of Latin, this show's commitment to having the Romans speak Latin the whole way through is something I never thought I'd have the privilege to see and I am hoping desperately for a season 2. The writers' use of idiomatic language, the vocative for direct address (unlike almost every other show/movie trying to use Latin I've seen), and even the pronunciation of 'v' as 'w' are all immesely appreciated.
Notes:
- (1:03) though the audio sounds a bit like "intendagit", which wouldn't make much sense, I've guessed and captioned it "intenderit" (3rd, singular, futperf, ind, act), which works grammatically but may be stretching the meaning of "intendo" unless it's an idiom I don't know. They may have meant "intellegit" (3rd, singular, pres, ind, act), which is much closer in meaning and grammar to the original Netflix subtitle translation ("The tribes don't understand this."), but the audio sounds significantly more like inteND- than inteLL-. The English captions make the subject seem plural, but it sounds singular throughout.
- (1:08) my choice of "omine" rather than a form of "omnis" may be contentious. I've taken "ab alio omine" (singular, neuter, ablative) as roughly "by any other token", which is not reflected in the English. What they translate as "a man cannot sentence another man to die" can be understood more literally as "the law (ius) forbids (vetat) that heads/lives (capita) be condemned (damnari) by another ____ (ab alio ___)." This scene in Latin is from the first episode of the new Netflix original "Barbarians" or "Barbaren". Though I haven't found an official copy of the Latin script, I have added Latin captions by ear and slightly modified parts of the English subtitles provided by Netflix. My Latin captions may be incorrect in some places, so I have provided commentary below on the parts about which I was less sure.
As a student and lover of Latin, this show's commitment to having the Romans speak Latin the whole way through is something I never thought I'd have the privilege to see and I am hoping desperately for a season 2. The writers' use of idiomatic language, the vocative for direct address (unlike almost every other show/movie trying to use Latin I've seen), and even the pronunciation of 'v' as 'w' are all immesely appreciated.
Notes:
- (1:03) though the audio sounds a bit like "intendagit", which wouldn't make much sense, I've guessed and captioned it "intenderit" (3rd, singular, futperf, ind, act), which works grammatically but may be stretching the meaning of "intendo" unless it's an idiom I don't know. They may have meant "intellegit" (3rd, singular, pres, ind, act), which is much closer in meaning and grammar to the original Netflix subtitle translation ("The tribes don't understand this."), but the audio sounds significantly more like inteND- than inteLL-. The English captions make the subject seem plural, but it sounds singular throughout.
- (1:08) my choice of "omine" rather than a form of "omnis" may be contentious. I've taken "ab alio omine" (singular, neuter, ablative) as roughly "by any other token", which is not reflected in the English. What they translate as "a man cannot sentence another man to die" can be understood more literally as "the law (ius) forbids (vetat) that heads/lives (capita) be condemned (damnari) by another ____ (ab alio ___)." The first thing to pop into your mind when you hear "Latino" is probably people from Latin America - places like Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, etc. But where exactly did the history of that word come from, and has it always meant Central America and South America as well as the Caribbean? Today Danielle traces the origin of the term "Latino" and the debates that still surround it as well as the term "Hispanic" and "Latinx."

According to the latest estimates which will likely be corroborated by the United States Census of 2020, Hispanic Americans as a group have now surpassed Germans, Irish, English, Black Americans, Italians and all other ethnic groups in the USA to become the largest "ethnicity" in the country, but is this really accurate?
I've discussed the racial, ethnic and genetic situation of Hispanics and Latinos many times over, and this video is dedicated to highlighting the cultural and racial diversity of Latin Americans and shatter the illusion that they are a homogeneous group, a stereotype perpetuated by Hollywood for generations now. It's time to stop treating Hispanic/Latin Americans as an ethnic/racial group, since it just doesn't make any sense. Thanks for watching!

Hispanic and Latino Americans
Hispanic Americans and Latino Americans (Spanish: hispanos [isˈpanos], latinos) are United States citizens, descending from the peoples of the countries of Latin America and Iberia. More generally, it includes all persons in the United States who self-identify as Hispanic or Latino, whether of full or partial ancestry. For the US census in 2010, American Community Survey, people counted as "Hispanic" or "Latino" are those who identify as one of the specific Hispanic or Latino categories listed on the census or ACS questionnaire ("Mexican," "Puerto Rican," or "Cuban") as well as those who indicate that they are "other Spanish, Hispanic, or Latino." The countries or people who are in the Hispanic or Latino American groups as classified by the Census Bureau are the following: Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, El Salvador, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. It is important to note that the Census office of the U.S. excludes Brazilian Americans from the Hispanic and Latino American population (Brazil is part of Latin America, but has a Portuguese language culture rather than a Spanish language culture).

This scene in Latin is from the first episode of the new Netflix original "Barbarians" or "Barbaren". Though I haven't found an official copy of the Latin script, I have added Latin captions by ear and slightly modified parts of the English subtitles provided by Netflix. My Latin captions may be incorrect in some places, so I have provided commentary below on the parts about which I was less sure.
As a student and lover of Latin, this show's commitment to having the Romans speak Latin the whole way through is something I never thought I'd have the privilege to see and I am hoping desperately for a season 2. The writers' use of idiomatic language, the vocative for direct address (unlike almost every other show/movie trying to use Latin I've seen), and even the pronunciation of 'v' as 'w' are all immesely appreciated.
Notes:
- (1:03) though the audio sounds a bit like "intendagit", which wouldn't make much sense, I've guessed and captioned it "intenderit" (3rd, singular, futperf, ind, act), which works grammatically but may be stretching the meaning of "intendo" unless it's an idiom I don't know. They may have meant "intellegit" (3rd, singular, pres, ind, act), which is much closer in meaning and grammar to the original Netflix subtitle translation ("The tribes don't understand this."), but the audio sounds significantly more like inteND- than inteLL-. The English captions make the subject seem plural, but it sounds singular throughout.
- (1:08) my choice of "omine" rather than a form of "omnis" may be contentious. I've taken "ab alio omine" (singular, neuter, ablative) as roughly "by any other token", which is not reflected in the English. What they translate as "a man cannot sentence another man to die" can be understood more literally as "the law (ius) forbids (vetat) that heads/lives (capita) be condemned (damnari) by another ____ (ab alio ___)." The inflected ending, to me, sounds quite clearly like -e, but for that final word to be a form of "omnis", it would have to be either "omni" to match "alio" or "omnia" to match "capita"-- "omne" is tempting because it matches "capita" in case and gender, but it doesn't match in number. "Omine" was my next best guess, and seems to work with the audio.
- (1:17) I've punctuated "opu'st" to reflect that it's a prodelision of "opus est", an idiom which implies need/obligation and which typically takes the ablative. This makes sense with the ablative case of "eis experto". Credit to Dr Beppe Pezzini's paper "Contraction of EST in Latin" (Transactions of the Philolgical Society, vol. 109 no. 3, 2011, pp 327-343) for helping me figure out what was being said here.
