Ugly History: The Khmer Rouge murders - Timothy Williams
Dig into the era of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, which perpetuated a genocide that killed a quarter of the country’s population.
--
From 1975 to 1979, the Communist Party of Kampuchea ruled Cambodia with an iron fist, perpetrating a genocide that killed one fourth of the country’s population. Roughly one million people were executed as suspected political enemies or due to their ethnicities, and another million died of starvation, disease, or overwork. How did this happen? Timothy Williams details the rise of the Khmer Rouge.

In this video, Mr. Mitchell will help you understand what happened in the China Vietnam War of 1979. Beginning with the context of the Sino-Soviet split, the video explores four key factors in the leadup to the war that include the Vietnam War, the Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia and Deng Xiaoping's rise to power. With Mao Zedong backing Pol Pot and Deng Xiaoping continuing this support, any action against Cambodia was likely to be met with a swift Chinese response.
After looking at the context, the video explores the nature of the war including China's attempts to lure Vietnamese forces out of Cambodia to defend towns like Cao Bang and Lang Son. It will also look at the aftermath of the war and how the to navigated their competing interests over what remained of Pol Pot's Cambodia.
If you liked the video, don't forget to leave a like on this video and don't forget to leave a comment with who you think won this war: China or Vietnam?

ENGLISH :
This time we will discuss again about the Communist Party of China (CPC) Troops Strategy. Previously, in August on the Strategy of the Nationalist Forces of China (Republic of China).
In a different version of the story, CPC has succeeded in controlling all of Mainland China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan to Indochina.
Again, World War II in Asia had occurred on September 15th, 1939 which resulted in the Chinese Communist Forces joining the war with the Soviet Union after the Republic of China joined the Allies. Before WWII, the two camps had been involved in a civil war since August 1st, 1927, 2 days after the Shanghai Massacre Incident.
This war lasted until August 15th, 1945, CPC succeeded in overthrowing Nationalist Government and Japanese Empire despite being attacked by the Allies from Tibet, Indochina and the Philippines. In addition, CPC managed to control Xinjiang, Tibet, Inner Mongolia and Manchuria (which is the State of Manchukuo).
Then on February 10th, 1946, CPC started the continued War against Western Imperialism as the People's Liberation Army "PLA" which aimed to liberate India, Thailand, Indochina, Philippines to the East Indies-New Guinea. On October 1st, 1949, CPC declared the founding of People's Republic of China after 3 years serving as the Provisional Government of CPC Control by Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai in Tiananmen, Peking City (Beijing).
On April 11th, 1951, during the Amami Island Incident near Okinawa, Japan, a PLA troops convoy was attacked by 3 US Battleships during an attack on Iwo Jima Island. For this incident, the PLA and the Soviets deployed 24 fighter planes and 9 bombers to attack the counter positions and destroy the 3 ships.
Finally on December 18th, 1959, PLA succeeded in controlling the entire Dutch East Indies, Papua New Guinea, Timor and the Philippines from the Allied Powers. After the War, PRC handed back the territory of Mongolia and Far East (Vladivostok) to Soviet Union by exchanging parts of Northern Manchuria and Korean Peninsula which would belong to PRC according to the legacy of the Treaty of 1860 and 1921. While India, Thailand, Philippines and East Indies (Indonesia) were granted Independence as New Government.

Ho Chi Minh, born Nguyen Sinh Cung, was a central figure in the struggle for Vietnamese independence and the founding leader of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam). His early involvement in the Indochina War can be traced back to his formation of the Viet Minh, a nationalist coalition that aimed to liberate Vietnam from French colonial rule. Ho Chi Minh's leadership, charisma, and dedication to the cause of national independence galvanized various factions, including communists, nationalists, and other anti-colonial forces, to unite under the Viet Minh banner. As the war began in 1946, Ho Chi Minh's strategic vision and diplomatic acumen were critical in rallying domestic and international support for the Vietnamese struggle against colonialism.
During the early stages of the Indochina War, Ho Chi Minh led diplomatic efforts to secure international recognition for the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. He sought assistance from the Soviet Union, China, and other communist nations, eventually securing Chinese support in the form of military aid, training, and financial resources. Ho Chi Minh also played a significant role in shaping the Viet Minh's military strategy. Inspired by the principles of guerrilla warfare, he advocated for a protracted people's war, relying on the support of the local population to wage a sustained campaign against the better-equipped French forces. This strategy proved to be effective, enabling the Viet Minh to launch a series of successful offensives that ultimately led to the French defeat at the Battle of Dien Bien Phu in 1954.
