Francis Edward Ifield (born 30 November 1937) is an Australian easy listening and country music singer who was born in England. He achieved considerable success in the early 1960s, especially in the UK Singles Chart, where he had four No. 1 hits in 1962 and 1963.
Early years
Born in Coundon, Coventry, Warwickshire, England, Ifield moved with his Australian parents to Dural, 50km (31mi) from Sydney, about 1946. It was a rural district and he listened to hillbilly music (now called country) while milking the cows. He learned how to yodel in imitation of country stars like Hank Snow. At the
age of 13 he recorded "Did You See My Daddy Over There?", and by 19 was the NO. 1 recording star in Australia and New Zealand. He returned to the UK in 1959.
1960s success
His first record in the UK was "Lucky Devil" (1960), which reached No. 22 in the UK charts. His next six records were less successful, but he finally broke through with "I Remember You", which topped the charts for seven weeks in 1962. Known for Ifield's falsetto and a slight yodel, it was the second-highest-selling single of that year in the UK and became the seventh million-selling single.
Frank Ifield is an album by country and pop singer Frank Ifield with Norrie Paramor and his orchestra issued on the World Record Club label. This label sold albums by mail order which made this album rather obscure and probably rare as very few references to it can be found on the Internet. His album “Blue Skies” was also issued on this label as well as on the Columbia label in 1963. The label was taken over by EMI in 1965 but continued to be used as a sub-label for mail order, covering a wide range of musical genres, and distributing in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. There is no production date on the record sleeve or label but the album notes state it was his second album after his first Columbia album “I’ll Remember You” released early in 1963.
With most of the album production by Babyface and Jermaine Dupri, the album debuted at number 15 on Billboard 200 selling 66,000 units and at number 4 on Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album eventually topped the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart for 3 weeks, while peaking at number 4 on Billboard 200 and becoming a commercial success. It earned the record a six-platinum certifications in the United States. My Way earned Usher Grammy-nominations and became his breakthrough album. My Way has sold over 6 million in the United States alone, and over 7 million worldwide.
Commercial performance
My Way sold 66,000 copies in its first week in the US, to debut at number fifteen on the Billboard 200 chart dated October 4, 1997. It entered the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums at number four the same week. The album rose to number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums on January 10, 1998; it topped the chart for three consecutive weeks, and remained on the chart for a total of seventy-five weeks. My Way peaked at number four on the Billboard 200, and lasted seventy-nine weeks on that chart. My Way has sold 6,000,000 copies in the US, and has been certified six-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Huge hit for Frank Ifield in 1962. Was # 1 in the UK for seven weeks. Originally sung by Dorothy Lamour in the movie The Fleets In.

Frank Ifield - She Taught Me To Yodel
One of the most popular yodel tunes in European music.
Lyrics:
I went across to Switzerland
Where all the Yodellers be
To try to learn to yodel
With my yodel-oh-ee-dee
I climbed a big high mountain
On a clear and sunny day
And met a yodellin' gal
Up in a little Swiss chalet
She taught me to yodel
Yodel-oh-ee-dee
Diddly-odel-oh-ee-dee
Diddly-odel-oh-ee-dee
She taught me to yodel
Yodel-oh-ee-dee-ay-dee
Yodel-oh-ee-dee-yodel-oh-dee
[more yodelling]
Well now I'm gonna teach you
How to yodel just like me
It's easy when you're singin'
To go yodel-diddly-oh-oh-dee
First you take a deep breath
Then it's K.O. one, two, three
And then you'll hear a yodel
If you listen close to me
Yeah, this is how to yodel
Yodel-oh-ee-dee
Diddly-odel-oh-ee-dee
Diddly-odel-oh-ee-dee
This is how to yodel
Yo...

Frank Ifield Medley
A LITTLE BACKGROUND FOR THIS SONG:
One of Frank's many appearances on American television. He performs "From Out Of Nowhere" and "She Taught Me How To Yodel". As usual he is performing to a full house. "She Taught Me How To Yodel" was one of the songs Frank did during a Royal performance. He was asked to perform for the Queen and her family and he was reported to be the Queen Mum's most favorite singer. Frank learned that the Queen Mum was very anxious to hear him yodel. He had not planned any specific yodeling number at the time but, after he heard about the Queen Mum's wishes, he selected this one especially for her. She was delighted.

One time a long time ago, On a mountain in Switzerland, Yo lo lo lo, There lived a fair young maiden, Lovely but lonely, Oh oh oh oh. Day after day, She'd pine her heart away, Yo lo lo lady yay, But no love came her way. Some day papa said, Some day we'll go, Down to the village in the valley, Then you'll meet a nice young man, Ask for your hand, Then you'll be happy Every day she grew unhappier, On a mountain in Switzerland, Yo lo lo lo, Every day a little bit lonelier, Which way to turn and which way to go Day after day, She'd pine her heart away, Yo lo lo lady yay, But no love came her way. Some say the maidens dream, Never came true, She never got to go to the valley, If she did or not, I really don't know, Oh oh oh oh. Did she die unhappy? I'd rather think she found her love, Wouldn't she be better if she did find love? Somewhere, Some way. Yo lo lo lady yay, Yo lo lo lady yay,
