1941 BELGIAN COLONIAL TROOPS JOIN THE FIGHT IN WWII
After Belgium was overrun by the Germans in May 1940, it still managed to keep on fighting in Africa until the end of the war. In this little-known episode Belgian colonial troops fought their way from The Congo to Nigeria and all the way to Palestine. On their way they defeated Italian troops in Abyssinia -now Ethiopia- and captured several towns, among them the stronghold of Saio, where they took 8 Italian generals prisoner.

British Colonial Troops Draw First Blood Against the Zulu Warriors - Zulu Dawn
Source - Zulu Dawn (1979 Film)
The Anglo-Zulu War was a conflict fought in 1879 between the British Empire and the Zulu Kingdom in South Africa. The war began when the British, seeking to expand their influence in the region, issued an ultimatum to the Zulu king, Cetshwayo, with demands that were impossible to meet. The Zulu refused, leading to the British invasion of Zululand.
The war is notable for the early Zulu victory at the Battle of Isandlwana, where the Zulu forces overwhelmed a well-armed British contingent. However, the British eventually regrouped, and after several battles, including the famous defense of Rorke's Drift, they defeated the Zulu at the Battle of Ulundi, leading to the fall of the Zulu Kingdom. The war marked the end of Zulu independence and the consolidation of ...

The other D-Day: France's forgotten colonial troops and the Provence landings • FRANCE 24 English
It's one of the untold stories of World War II: how France whitewashed its colonial troops during the liberation from Nazi rule. On August 15, 1944, experienced fighters who came from all corners of the French empire landed in southern France and won key battles to liberate the nation. But because of the colour of their skin, up to 20,000 African riflemen were replaced by untrained, White members of the Resistance. As the country celebrates 80 years since the end of the Nazi occupation, FRANCE 24 pays tribute to these long-forgotten soldiers and highlights their key role in the Provence landings.

The war marked the end of Zulu independence and the consolidation of British control over South Africa.
