Church of Sweden tribute - En hyllning till Svenska Kyrkan
The Church of Sweden is a fully evangelical and fully catholic church that stands out among other historical protestant churches with having preserved and revived many of it’s pre-reformation customs and liturgy, most notably retaining both it’s episcopal structure and apostolic succession. Simply put it is a Lutheran church with a high church profile or as archbishop and Nobel peace prize lauterate Nathan Söderblom put it, the reformation was ”'church improvement' and a 'process of purification' which did not create a new church. As a national church, the Church of Sweden succeeded in bringing together medieval Swedish tradition with the rediscovery of the gospel which the Reformation brought with it.”

As a national church, the Church of Sweden succeeded in bringing together medieval Swedish tradition with the rediscovery of the gospel which the Reformation brought with it.”
It plays a special historical role for our country as the so called ”people’s Church” or ”Church of the forefathers” that has accompanied us on the various steps in our lives for one thousand years now. It has proclaimed the love and good news of the gospel ever since and is very dear to us.
This compilation is a tribute to the Church of Sweden in general and it’s high church/evangelical catholic heritage in particular.

Sweden Flag:
Sweden's flag is a big blue one with a yellow cross that reaches out to all corners. This cross stands for the sun shining over the sea.
Source of the name
Sweden is called "Sverige" in Swedish, meaning "land of the Svear," a group of people who lived there long ago.
Sweden Location:
Sweden is way up in the north of Europe. It has lots of forests and big lakes, and the sea is close to almost everywhere.
Sweden Main Cities:
Stockholm: The capital city, full of islands and bridges - like a big watery playground!
Gothenburg: Known for its big ships and tasty seafood.
Malmö: A city where people from lots of different places live together.
Sweden Countryside:
In Sweden, you can watch the night sky glow with the northern lights. When winter comes, the mountains put on white snow hats and you can sled down them really fast! The forests are so big and green, and if you're quiet, you might see moose taking a snack, or even a bear having a wander – don't worry, they're very shy!
Sweden People:
Swedes really like to spend time outside, playing in the snow or lying on the grass under the sun. They are super friendly and always have a smile for you. They also take care of their environment by recycling and riding bikes – they are nature's buddies!
Sweden Language:
In Sweden, people speak a language called Swedish. It sounds like a song when they talk! When they meet someone, they say "Hej!" which is how you say "Hello!" in Swedish. Try saying it; it's fun!
Sweden Religion:
A lot of Swedes go to church, and Christmas is a big deal with lots of lights and yummy cookies. But what's really cool is that everyone is free to believe in what they want, and all the different beliefs make for great stories!
Sweden Food:
Oh, you'll love this: Swedes are famous for their meatballs – yes, like the ones you might have tried at a big furniture store! They also munch on crispy bread called 'knäckebröd,' and they have fish in all sorts of ways. If you ever have a Swedish friend, you're in for some tasty treats!
Sweden Culture:
Did you know that Sweden is a land full of tales and tunes? People here love to share stories and make music. There's this band called ABBA – your parents probably know them – they're like music heroes over there!
Sweden Famous Places/Monuments:
Vasa Museum: Imagine a ship as big as your school, now imagine it underwater for 333 years! The Vasa is that ship, and now it's in a museum for us to see.
The Ice Hotel: How about sleeping in a room made of ice? You'd need a really warm sleeping bag! This hotel is like a huge igloo, and it's rebuilt every winter because it melts away in the spring – like magic!
Sweden is like a storybook place with its sparkly lights in the sky, tall tales, and chilly ice castles. It's a country where every day seems like an adventure waiting to happen!
