Edmund Chris Nelson (1960 – December 7, 2006) was an American photographer and co-founder of Bear Magazine in the 1980s, was the photographic pioneer in the gay-oriented erotic photography of mature men with hairy bodies and facial hair. His work directly led to the legitimizing of the bear community as a social group.
By profession, Nelson was a photomicroscopy researcher at the University of California's Lawrence Berkeley Labs. He was considered a highly adept microscopist at the Lab, with one colleague there noting, "Chris was the backbone of NCEM, the kind of person that makes LBL great. He was an awesome microscopist who understood advanced electron microscopes like a test pilot understands a jet plane." Many international researchers appreciated Nelson's eye for detail and often requested to work with him given his reputation and skill level.
Together with his then partner, magazine publisher Richard Bulger, Nelson developed a characteristic "look", first in black-and-white portraits of men in San Francisco's biker and leather community, and then, as the bear community grew, in black-and-white erotic portraits of a great number of men who submitted themselves to the magazine as amateur models. He later independently went on to further galvanize the gay bear identity which subsequently evolved over the years into a multitude of bear clubs and related social groups worldwide.
Nelson gained prominence as a key constitutional figure in any possible replacement of DemocraticU.S. SenatorTim Johnson, who suffered stroke-like bleeding in the brain caused by a congenital malformation known as arteriovenous malformation. If Johnson died or otherwise make the office "vacant" (the meaning of which is the subject of various interpretations by constitutional law experts), South Dakota law provides for the governor to name a replacement. Nelson has told the press that there are no special restrictions on an appointment by the governor and a replacement would not have to be from the same political party.
Christopher Tipton (born December 22, 1974) is an Americanprofessional wrestler, better known by his ring name as Casanova Chris or "Classy" Chris Nelson. He is half of a tag team called The New Heavenly Bodies with "Vivacious" Vito DeNucci. Together, they have held the NWA World Tag Team Championship three times and been ranked in the top 10 in the world in 2001-2002.
The New Heavenly Bodies are the third longest ranking NWA World Tag Team Champions ever with a total reign time of 328 days. Their longest single reign was 248 consecutive days, which is also the third longest reign as well.
Career
Independent Circuit (1991-1998)
Chris Nelson started his career in 1991, and has been wrestling ever since. Nelson was trained by a veteran NWA and WCW jobber, Randy Hogan. Buddy Valentine taught Nelson how to work a match, work the crowd and survive in the wrestling business. Valentine taught Nelson how to carry a match and how to be an excellent heel. Nelson has worked for the World Wrestling Federation (now World Wrestling Entertainment), World Championship Wrestling, and the National Wrestling Alliance, as well as numerous promotions on the independent circuit. Nelson was ranked as one of the top five "Jobbers" in the world in the mid-1990s due to his over 300 television matches for the two big companies. Nelson also worked over 3,000 matches in his 20-year career.
