Chavdar (Bulgarian:Чавдар) is a trademark and name of a Bulgarianbus building company in Botevgrad. Founded by Racho Dzhambov, the company that would later become "Chavdar" produced around 200 buses between 1927 and 1947 on chassis from Ford Motor Company, Mercedes-Benz and Dodge. In 1948 the state took control of the property. Later Chavdar models were rebadged and restyled Setras. The company closed in 1999.
History
In 1924 Racho Valkov Djambazov (1894-1983) opened an iron workshop in Botevgrad, Bulgaria. In 1927 Racho met with Ivan Valkov who had a transport business using rebuilt ambulances. He gave Racho one platform from Fiat and built his first vehicle. On 1 May 1948 Chavdar presented a bus based on Škoda RTO. In 1956 the production of the company increased 150%. An initiative by Vasil Djambov was to produce a ten meter microbus based on Opel.
In 1962 the company started to produce models M65 and M66, which were very popular for intercity traffic. In the same the began producing year small buses based on the Soviet GAZ-51(1962-1969). In 1966 a new engine arrived from the institute.
Burgas (Bulgarian:Бургас, pronounced[burˈɡas]), sometimes transliterated as Bourgas, is the second-largest city on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast and the fourth-largest in Bulgaria after Sofia, Plovdiv, and Varna, with a population of 200,271 inhabitants, according to the 2011 census. It is the capital of Burgas Province and an important industrial, transport, cultural and tourist centre.
The city is surrounded by the Burgas Lakes and located at the westernmost point of the Black Sea, at the large Burgas Bay. The LUKOIL Neftochim Burgas is the largest oil refinery in southeastern Europe and the largest industrial enterprise. The Port of Burgas is the largest port in Bulgaria, and Burgas Airport is the second-most important in the country. Burgas is the center of the Bulgarian fishing and fish processing industry.
Names
A similar literal composition have the cities Burgos in Spain and numerous cities containing the Germanicburg "city" such as Hamburg.
It is widely considered, including by the city's official website, that the name of the city is derived from the Latin word "burgos" as meaning a "tower", after a local ancient Roman travel post, which used to be in the area of today's Burgas Port. 15 centuries later, the settlement was mentioned by the Byzantine poet Manuel Phil as "Pyrgos" (Greek: Πύργος), a word identical in meaning with the Latin word for tower.
There are several alternative explanations for the name's origin. By one of them, the city's name comes from Gothic name "baurgs" as meaning "signified consolidated walled villages". According to Bulgarian prof. Kiril Vlahov, the name of the city comes from the Thracian word "pyurg" as meaning "fortification of wooden beams". It is also suggested that the name ultimately comes from the name of khan Burtaz (683-633 BC).
Burgas Province (Bulgarian:Област Бургас - Oblast Burgas, former name Burgas okrug) is a province in southeastern Bulgaria, including southern Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. It is bounded on the south by Turkey. The province is named after its administrative and industrial centre - the city of Burgas - the fourth biggest town in the country. It is the largest province by area, embracing a territory of 7,748.1km² that is divided into 13 municipalities with a total population, as of December 2009, of 422,319 inhabitants.

The Burgas province (oбласт, oblast) contains 13 municipalities (singular: oбщина, obshtina - plural: oбщини, obshtini). The following table shows the names of each municipality in English and Cyrillic, the main town or village (towns are shown in bold), and the population of each as of 2009.
Population
The Burgas province had a population of 423,608 (423,547 also given) according to a 2001 census, of which 7001490000000000000♠49% were male and 7001510000000000000♠51% were female.
As of the end of 2009, the population of the province, announced by the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute, numbered 422,319 of which 7001218000000000000♠21.8% are inhabitants aged over 60 years.

NEOLITHIC HUT IN BULGARIA (Chavdar Village)
🇧🇬 NO windows, NO electricity and NO water in this AirBnb from 6,200BC! 🤯
Unique accommodation is such a great way to mix things up when you are on long travel adventures. So when we saw a Neolithic Hut on Air BnB that claimed to be completely accurate to the time period. We had to book it.
In this video we make the long drive (Only getting lost a couple of times) from Varna all the way to a town near Sofia called Chavdar. Up the main hill in this city a true hidden gem of Bulgaria sits, a museum/neolithic village and we booked the entire town!... just kidding, but we were alone in the museum after hours because nobody else was staying the night.
After some minor smoke inhalation from the marshmallows on the fire, we survived!
What a way to finish our travel in Bulgaria!

In the late 80's, these buses remained only at the prototype level.
Chavdar 130 buses entered serial production in the 90s.
The prototype bus made in Austria is almost indistinguishable from the Steyr SS11.
In the production of serial buses, some details have been changed: front mask, lights, and others.
After 1989, Czech spare parts became more expensive, then in the Chavdar plant is developed a variant of Chavdar 130 bus with Kamaz engine and gearbox Lvov-3 - one is build and is sell to Tashkent city in Uzbekistan.
After Chavdar 130, the production of Chavdar 120 was started - is very same bus, with some diferents - windows is smallest and second door is on different possition.

In order to unify, the Chavdar plant started the production of articulated Chavdar buses 141 - They have some differences with Chavdar 140: Unified base of the front section of the bus with Chavdar 120 (5550mm), One more window after the second door of the front section, MAN engine, various doors and others .
Chavdar 141 buses are delivered for public transport in Sofia and Burgas.

The new fleet member of Public Transport and Infrastructure(PTI) Association. Bulgarian made bus model Chavdar 11M4 was in production from 1977 until 1992. This example is made in 1988 and the only one in active service.

Unique accommodation is such a great way to mix things up when you are on long travel adventures. So when we saw a Neolithic Hut on Air BnB that claimed to be completely accurate to the time period. We had to book it.
In this video we make the long drive (Only getting lost a couple of times) from Varna all the way to a town near Sofia called Chavdar. Up the main hill in this city a true hidden gem of Bulgaria sits, a museum/neolithic village and we booked the entire town!... just kidding, but we were alone in the museum after hours because nobody else was staying the night.
After some minor smoke inhalation from the marshmallows on the fire, we survived!
What a way to finish our travel in Bulgaria!
