Burgazada Synagogue is a synagogue in Burgazada, Istanbul, Turkey. There were few Jewish families in the 1950s in Burgaz (Antigone), but in the 60's the need to have a synagogue arose and permission was taken in 1968 to build one. It is open for services only during summer months, like the other synagogues of the Prince Islands.
It is officially a neighbourhood in the Adalar district of Istanbul. Burgaz is a common setting and even a major theme for writer Sait Faik Abasıyanık, where he also resided. Today, his residence is kept as a museum. In 2003 Burgaz suffered a terrible forest fire, losing 4 square kilometres of its entire woodland.

Burgazada, or Burgaz Adası (Burgaz for short), is the third largest of the Princes' Islands in the Sea of Marmara, near Istanbul, Turkey. It is officially a neighbourhood of the Adalar district of Istanbul. In the past it was called Antigoni (Greek: Αντιγόνη) after Antigonus I Monophthalmus, the father of Demetrius I of Macedon, one of the Diadochi (Successors) of Alexander the Great, who built a fort (Greek: Pyrgos for fort/tower) here. The name Burgas is thought to be derived from Pyrgos.

** Note on access with stroller: The boats are a bit difficult with the stroller, especially getting on and off. It needs two people. If you're alone, locals will help you. Everywhere else filmed in this video was easily accessible with a double stroller.
Also, Istanbul no longer requires masks in public, which is a relief.
If you'd like us to do another video on the Bet Yaakov Synagogue, please let us know in the comments or reach out using the email in the about section of our channel's p...

Escaping Istanbul 🇹🇷
We escaped Istanbul on a ferry headed to a paradise island just off the coast!
That island is called Burgazada, she is one of the few princes islands, a small chain of islands right next to Istanbul Turkey!
First we checked out the ancient Greek church on the island before hitting up Burgazada's oldest bakery for some snacks.
Now we had some sustenance in us we hiked up to the monastery on the top of the island, the views on the way up were bloody fantastic.
We then hit up an old school tea shop for some Turkish tea and coffee.
Time for the beach! We tried to find a nice clean quiet beach but things just went downhill, the beaches were absolutely covered in litter it was disgusting and not worth it whatsoever.
Fuming about the beaches I went on a fat rant about how much I hate Youtub...

Revealing Heybeliada's Rich History: From Mining Town to Island Paradise
Heybeliada is the second largest of Istanbul’s Prince’s Islands, bigger and greener than Burgazada or Kınalıada, and more relaxed than Büyükada. ‘Heybe’ means ‘saddle bag’, and the name comes from the island’s distinctive two hills and valley between them, which make it look like a saddle as you approach it. Heybeliada features beaches, forests, monasteries, tombs of former Orthodox Patriarchs, museums, and good restaurants, all of which can be managed as a day trip from Istanbul, without the extra travel and crowds on Büyükada.

This footage released shows the Jewish synagogue had dystopian tunnels made with stained mattresses that have been sent for forensic analysis.
Items such as baby high chairs and clothing have also been taken by forensics.
A group of extremist students were blamed for the child abduction tunnels and attempted to bury the tunnels with cement before forensics could begin their investigations.
Advocates for child abuse say Israel has become a “refuge for paedophiles,” and many Jewish-Americans hide from justice in Israel.

The island covers and area of 1.5 sqm and is dominated by a single hill, Bayraktepe (Flag Hill, 170m/558ft), also known as Hristos Tepesi (Christ Hill). In 2003 a terrible fire wrote off most of its woodland. Visible just off shore is tiny uninhabited Kaşıkadası (Spoon Island). There are great views back towards the mainland from the remote Kalpazankaya - the name means 'Counterfeiters' Rock' in Turkish.
Historically, the island was mainly inhabited Greeks and in the 20th century many Jews from Istanbul settled here. However, with the dwindling of Turkey's minorities, the make-up of the local population is now virtually indistinguishable from the rest of Istanbul.
Şehir Hatları ferries connect the island with the mainland from terminals at Eminönü and Kabataş on the European side of Istanbul and from Kadıköy and Bostancı on the Asian side. Most of the ferries call at Burgaz after Kınalıada and before Heybeliada and Büyükada.
Attractions
The island was home to short-story writer Sait Faik Abasıyanık whose house, originally called Spanudis Mansion, is sometimes open to visitors. Many of Sait Faik's stories are set on Burgazada.
The Church of Iohannes Prodromos (John the Baptist), built in 1899, dominates the small town on the island. It was extensively restored after the Marmara Earthquake of 1999. The site was originally occupied by a Byzantine church which became a prison for St Methodius the Confessor, who was exiled here for his opposition to iconoclasm but eventually went on to become the Greek patriarch.
The Monastery of Hagios Georgios Garipi was largely built in 1897 and had to be extensively restored after the 1999 Marmara Earthquake. In 1917 it served as a refuge for some of the White Russians fleeing the Russian Revolution. There has been a monastery on the site since at least the 17th century.
On the top of Bayraktepe stands the Monastery of the Transfiguration, dating back to Byzantine time and standing on the site of an Ancient Greek temple. The current building is mainly a work of the 19th century.
The Burgazada Sanitorium, founded in 1928, is one of the oldest sanitoria in the country. The site has been unoccupied for quite a time and recently been transformed to a restaurant.

The Burgazada Sanitorium, founded in 1928, is one of the oldest sanitoria in the country.

If you'd like us to do another video on the Bet Yaakov Synagogue, please let us know in the comments or reach out using the email in the about section of our channel's page.
Located an the island called Heybeliada (Halki), the Bet Yaakov Synagogue was built in 1953 because in the 1940's there were more than 250 Jewish families passing their summer months on the island. (http://www.turkyahudileri.com/index.php/en/history/synagogues/48-heybeliada-bet-yaakov-synagogue)

Fuming about the beaches I went on a fat rant about how much I hate Youtubers and how they are all extremely boring and carbon copies of each other.
We then took the ferry back to Moda, Istanbul AKA gentrified hipster hell and called it a day.
Burgazada was bloody beautiful, just a shame people from Istanbul come and trash the place... 🇹🇷

It’s now almost certain the tunnels found at the Chabad synagogue in Brooklyn were designed for...

Istanbul 2022 | Burgazada Walking Tour | The Prince's islands

make sure to watch till the end of the video and leave a comment and like.
Burgazada, or Burgaz Adası (Burgaz for short), is the third largest of the Princes' Islands in the Sea of Marmara, near Istanbul, Turkey. It is officially a neighbourhood of the Adalar district of Istanbul.
The island was home to short-story writer Sait Faik Abasıyanık whose house, originally called Spanudis Mansion, is sometimes open to visitors. Many of Sait Faik's stories are set on Burgazada.[2]
The Church of Iohannes Prodromos (John the Baptist), built in 1899, dominates the small town on the island. It was extensively restored after the Marmara Earthquake of 1999. The site was originally occupied by a Byzantine church which became a prison for St Methodius the Confessor, who was exiled here for his opposition to iconoclasm but eventually went on to become the Greek patriarch.[3]

The dark finish and I am now back to the left across the Marmara headed a hidden island in the sea resort Prince Istanbul. With panoramic sight on the Seaway for about two hours the breathtaking scenery unfolding leads me into a trance. Istanbul favorite people look for Prince arrived on the island jewel of the Marmara Sea. Come to think of it just walking the streets with a bike stand. In particular, wagons are the main public transport on the island. Even if they say the strike is responsible for the hot day sightseeing and transportation these days because the island is literally paralyzed in a horse Prince entertain the utmost sincerity island. "This guy is a pebble. Gajyeoseo so called blue eyes. "That guy, really pretty eyes! Tabor wagons should not be the Prince island. I put the body in the wagon heading to that island summit with stunning scenery. Again, the thing to do on the road as land. When an dwicha the apjireu car in front reduces the speed. The carriage of the Prince Islands are gathered to the end point. Here kkajida perfect way to go in carriages. Now we head to foot summit. There are figured wonderful scenery does disappoint waiting. I wonder where those trees over there are doing away hung clustered? It seems there is something to the story. Enter confirmation immediately. "This is the wish tree.
