'No-nonsense' Princess Anne carries her own bags on royal tour
The Princess Royal has been welcomed to Sri Lanka with a dazzling performance by traditional dancers – and in true Princess Anne style, she took it all in her stride by carrying her own bags off her commercial plane.
The no-nonsense princess was photographed in a warm jacket, trousers and sensible shoes as she thanked SriLankan Airlines staff before walking off the plane carrying two heavy bags.
Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, her husband, followed, also holding a couple of bags, as the couple began an official three-day visit celebrating the UK’s ties with the Commonwealth country.

HMS Princess Royal – The Forgotten Battlecruiser of Jutland
Apologies for the slight delay. Had a busy week and it slowed me down a bit.
HMS Princess Royal, the second of the Splendid Cats, tends to be overlooked. Her sister, Lion, was Beatty's flagship and subjected to repeated poundings. Her half-sister, Queen Mary, blew up in spectacular fashion. Even HMS Tiger gets more attention, for her beauty and stumbling about.
That leaves Princess Royal as the odd duckling, in a way. Generally successful, if not particularly special, but overlooked. Even though she took some pretty hefty blows at Jutland, and came out the other side in one piece.
Let's look at her, in this video.

Princess Anne is the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, born on 15 August 1950 at Clarence House in London.
Known for her no nonsense attitude, the princess has garnered a very well-deserved reputation for hard work, and commitment to her charitable causes.
Her elder brother’s role was, of course, predestined, but hers was not. With slim chances of ever wearing the crown, Anne was left to figure out her own destiny.
We take a look back at the life and passions of the young Princess, from her life as a little girl in England, tending to her ponies, to her time as an accomplished Olympic Equestrian. We take a royal tour around her romances, separations and scandals, as the young Anne sets about becoming the princess royal.
