The United States conquered Mexico and the Stars & Stripes flew over Mexico's Chapultepec Castle for a short time after the U.S. defeated the Mexican army in the Mexican-American War.
The last battle of the Mexican-American War took place on the western edge of Mexico City. The United States attacked what was left of the Mexican army in what is now called, the Battle for Chapultepec Castle.
Standing in front of the monument commemorating this battle at the battle's site, I unfold a short version of the story of what took place in 1847.

The Battle of Chapultepec: Capturing the Mexican Capital in 1847
The year is 1847. The United States and Mexico are currently engaged in armed conflict that sparked over tensions surrounding the disputed borders of Texas, a republic that gained their independence from Mexico and voted to become a state in late 1845.
The Marines and American forces were about to launch a campaign with the sole mission of capturing the Mexican capital and bring a swift end to the Mexican-American War. This campaign will produce one of the most famous battles of Marine Corps history that will shape the entire Marine culture and inspire the opening words to the Marines' Hymn.

CDMX VLOG: Chapultepec Castle - Mexico City (Historic Site & Museum - Best Views of Mexico City!)
UPDATE: Some of the music in this video may be attributed to being of Spanish origin instead of Mexican origin. Unfortunately, it was labeled as Mexican in my music-licensing website. I have reported the labeling to the company, and we are working to be better at recognizing the origination of music we use. Please forgive our untrained ears! We strive to be respectful of Mexican Culture. Thank you for your understanding as we learn and grow.
IN THIS VIDEO we take you to Chapultepec Castle (or el Castillo de Chapultepec). One of only two castles in the America's to ever be occupied by a monarch, this site is a breathtaking example of Mexico's turbulent past. In this single place, you can learn about so much of Mexico's history - from pre-European influence, to the rich, evolved modern-day...

A CASTLE IN MEXICO?! | Eileen Aldis
Something I did not expect to find while travelling in Mexico was a castle! Castillo de Chapultepec or Chapultepec Castle has a long history as a sacred place for the Aztecs to the Niños Héroes (Hero Children) who defended it in the Battle of Chapultepec during the Mexican-American War to being the set of the Capulet Mansion in Baz Luhrmann's 1996 film Romeo & Juliet starring Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio. The castle is also the only ever royal residence in North America, having been inhabited by Emperor Maximilian I and his wife Empress Carlota when it was still on the outskirts of Mexico City. Nowadays it is also the home of the National Museum of History and provides incredible views of Paseo de la Reforma and surrounding Chapultepec Park.

This is the Battle of Chapultepec.
USA Flag Co.® covers military events and missions from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard.

In this single place, you can learn about so much of Mexico's history - from pre-European influence, to the rich, evolved modern-day Mexico.
Here, you'll see French Rooftop Gardens, an early Italian Lamborghini, Spanish Architecture, Mexican Art & experience one of the most beautiful 360 degree city views in the world - this place is really indescribable.
The surrounding Park (or, Bosque) is two times the size of New York's Central Park. The preservation and restoration here is remarkable, and it's a must see to understand a large portion of Mexico's history.
Also, we try to share some tips throughout the video about visiting the site, getting inside and what to expect. Check it out!!!
