EXPLORING CHACO CANYON (With History, Information, Hikes, etc.)
It's been called "the Machu Picchu of America." While maybe not quite as spectacularly situated as Machu Puchhi, the Native American Ruins of Chaco Canyon in northwestern New Mexico are numerous, enormous, expansive, and very impressive. In this video I spent a day exploring the area's famous (and some not-so-famous) ruins and rock art.

NM True TV - Chaco Canyon & Aztec Ruins
The Ancestral Puebloan people created villages and mystery in the Southwest. And nowhere has a higher concentration of those villages than New Mexico. Chaco Culture National Historical Park, commonly known as Chaco Canyon, is the best-preserved and largest site that offers insight into the mystery. And a bit farther north Aztec Ruins National Monument is yet another key Ancestral Puebloan village. Why did they build it all, why did they leave so soon, and where did they go? There are theories and research, but Michael and the NM True TV Crew were happy to let the mysteries remain, and let the beauty surround them.

Exploring Chaco Canyon - Mysterious Ancient Ruins and the Archaeological Wonder of the USA
The Anasazi or Ancestral Puebloans created these fantastic structures, more than a thousand years ago, with hundreds of rooms, multiple stories tall, astrologically aligned, and with mysterious purposes. Road networks, line of sight signaling, amazing architecture and hundreds of thousands of logs hauled from tens of miles away, only to leave them around 1150, never to return. While they "abandonment" and the mysterious "dissapearance of the anasazi" have been much touted or explained with mysticism or even extraterrestrials, the truth is much more fascinating! See these amazing remnants built and then abandoned by the ancestors of todays Pueblo peoples, who did not "vanish" but moved elsewhere. See how to get to Chaco Canyon, how many ruins you can see in one winter day, and how accessibl...

Lost Ancient City In America - Tom Green Visits Chaco Culture National Historical Park - Van Life
This ancient city was built by the Pueblo people and populated by thousands from the years 850 to 1250 AD. These are the most incredible pre-Columbian ruins north of Mexico. The stone work and craftsmanship of this ancient city is mind blowing. It is not surprising they have withstood the test of time. Walking through this ancient site while making this video was a spiritual journey that I will never forget. These scared native American ruins are a part of America that we must preserve and celebrate. And the location itself was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been in my life. I was suprised at how difficult it was to access this site. In the video I wonder why they don't pave the road to access this incredible place. In hindsight, I believe they should leave it exactly...

CHACO CULTURE NATIONAL HISTORIC PARK / HD
From the north rim of Chaco Canyon, we gazed down a thousand years past at one of the largest assembly of ancient pueblo ruins in the country.
Between the years AD 900 and 1150, Chaco Canyon - in what is now northwestern New Mexico - was a major center of ancestral Puebloan culture. A thriving culture which included an understanding of complex architecture, community life, social organization, astronomy, and commerce.
The half-moon shaped Pueblo Bonito "beautiful village" is one of the most impressive of all the pueblos in this scenic and spectacular high-desert kingdom.
Echoes of the ancient ones resounded around us, records of their existence written on stone and in the intricacy of their architecture.

In hindsight, I believe they should leave it exactly as is. If you want to go there you can. The rough road may keep out the crowds and I think that is a good thing. Experiencing sunset in this ancient and beautiful place was awe inspiring. But being there completely alone as I was, was epic to say the least. You can feel the energy of those who built this place and lived there so many years ago. We must look after this important part of our history and do everything we can to preserve it. Located in Navajo Nation land, New Mexico. I will return to this place again. Thanks for watching and please subscribe to this channel. And share this video. Love you all. -Tom
