New York
New York is a state in the Northeastern United States and is the United States' 27th-most extensive, fourth-most populous, and seventh-most densely populated state. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south and Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont to the east. New York (Eskimo Joe song)
"New York" is the third single by Eskimo Joe, taken from their third studio album Black Fingernails, Red Wine. The band flew to New York to film the music video for the single. The music video for "New York" debuted on ABC's all night music program, Rage, as the first clip shown on 15 December 2006. "New York" was released on 3 February 2007.

The music video is unusual for Eskimo Joe, featuring lead singer Kavyen Temperley changing T-shirts. It is filmed on the streets of New York, whilst Temperley walks backward with smoke coming out of his mouth. It then pans to the band running in Central Park in a similar style to the "Who Sold Her Out" video.
Director Stuart MacLeod has commented.
After a quick mock-up at home, the logistics of donning T-shirts in real time was proving more difficult than anticipated. In frustration, MacLeod hit the rewind button and the sudden flurry of activity saw the concept morph into a music video.

New York (World Series of Football)
"New York" (also referred to as the New Yorks and the New York Philadelphians) was a term given to a professional football team formed by promoter Tom O'Rouke for the World Series of Football in 1902. The event was held in New York City at Madison Square Garden. It featured five football teams from New York and New Jersey: the Syracuse Athletic Club, Orange Athletic Club, Knickerbocker Athletic Club, Warslow Athletic Club and "New York". The "New York" team was designed and heavily favored to win the tournament. However, they were defeated in the opening game by Syracuse.
Origins
The "New York" team comprised ex-players from the recently defunct Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Athletics of the first National Football League – eight Phillies and four Athletics. It included Charlie Gelbert, Blondy Wallace, Walter E. Bachman and Ben Roller. However, the team also featured some recognizable players from New York such as Curly Davidson. By putting together a team of all-stars calling them the "New York" team, O'Rourke expected to give his New York audience the pleasure of watching the "home team" win.

New York is the fifteenth solo album by Lou Reed, released early in 1989. A universal critical success, it is widely considered one of his best solo albums. While the defunct Velvet Underground were at the peak of their popularity at the time, Reed's solo career had hit several lows during the 1980s, at least since his Blue Mask. However the widespread popularity of New York reignited his career to the extent that he could revive the Velvet Underground for an aborted world tour.
The album is highly regarded for the strength and force of its lyrical content, but at the time drew criticism for its perceived pedestrian, "truck driver," musicianship. Reed countered that he required simple music so that it would not distract from his frank lyrics. The single "Dirty Blvd." was a #1 hit on the newly created Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart for four weeks. Velvet Underground drummer Maureen Tucker played on two tracks.

Information: Explore the iconic Central Park in this immersive walking tour, starting from the southern entrance and weaving through the park’s most famous landmarks. From the tranquil beauty of The Pond to the vibrant Bethesda Terrace and the picturesque Bow Bridge, this tour covers both well-known spots and hidden gems.
History: Central Park, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, opened in 1858 and was the first major landscaped public park in the United States. This 843-acre green space was created to provide New Yorkers with a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. Highlights along the tour include the historic Gapstow Bridge (13:02), offering classic views of the Manhattan skyline, and the Bethesda Terrace (49:31), often regarded as the heart of Central Park with its intricate carvings and stunning views of the Bethesda Fountain. The Bow Bridge (1:06:38), with its distinctive cast-iron design, is one of the most photographed bridges in the world.

If you’ve been to New York, you’ve probably visited Central Park. But there’s a part of its story you won't see.
It’s a story that goes back to the 1820s, when that part of New York was largely open countryside. Soon it became home to about 1,600 people. Among them was a predominantly black community that bought up affordable plots to build homes, churches and a school. It became known as Seneca Village. And when Irish and German immigrants moved in, it became a rare example at the time of an integrated neighborhood.
Everything changed on July 21, 1853. New York took control of the land to create what would become the first major landscaped park in the US -- they called it “The Central Park.”
In the Vox series Missing Chapter, Vox Senior Producer Ranjani Chakraborty revisits underreported and often overlooked moments from the past to give context to the present. Join her as she covers the histories that are often left out of our textbooks. Our first season tackles stories of racial injustice, political conflicts, even the hidden history of US medical experimentation.

If you’ve been to New York, you’ve probably visited Central Park. But there’s a part of its story you won't see.
It’s a story that goes back to the 1820s, when that part of New York was largely open countryside. Soon it became home to about 1,600 people. Among them was a predominantly black community that bought up affordable plots to build homes, churches and a school. It became known as Seneca Village. And when Irish and German immigrants moved in, it became a rare example at the time of an integrated neighborhood.
Everything changed on July 21, 1853. New York took control of the land to create what would become the first major landscaped park in the US -- they called it “The Central Park.”
In the Vox series Missing Chapter, Vox Senior Producer Ranjani Chakraborty revisits underreported and often overlooked moments from the past to give context to the present. New York City makes up over 40% of the population of New York State. Two-thirds of the state's population lives in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and nearly 40% live on Long Island. Both the state and New York City were named for the 17th century Duke of York, future King James II of England. The next four most populous cities in the state are Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse, while the state capital is Albany.
