Traversing 200 Miles Of East Anglia's Coastline And Countryside.
Whats up top shaggers .. I've missed ya!
So.... here we are .. the first of two videos of basically what i saw and did on my latest outing. A 200 mile thru hike while wild camping my way through some of East Anglia's beautiful coastline and countryside.
What an epic journey it was and walking that distance is something I've never done in one trip before so I'm really happy with the achievement as well as being amazed by some of the places i passed through on my journey.
Part one is the first four days of what ended up being an awesome 12 day trip.
i averaged 17 miles a day over the 12 days which isn't the most you'd ever see but its not the least.. some of the days were a bit of a slog at the last few miles... with it being November the days are short so it meant getting up and crack...

East Anglia (1930s film)
This is a late 1930s travelogue. These films became popular in the 1930s and were shown to groups and societies , mainly in urban Britain during the winter months to encourage tourism. The bourgeoning middle classes with their semi-detached homes and Austin 7 cars , the working classes visiting Gt Yarmouth in holiday special trains, clubs organising coach trips, it was all knocked on the head with the arrival of WWII.

So.... here we are .. the first of two videos of basically what i saw and did on my latest outing. A 200 mile thru hike while wild camping my way through some of East Anglia's beautiful coastline and countryside.
What an epic journey it was and walking that distance is something I've never done in one trip before so I'm really happy with the achievement as well as being amazed by some of the places i passed through on my journey.
Part one is the first four days of what ended up being an awesome 12 day trip.
i averaged 17 miles a day over the 12 days which isn't the most you'd ever see but its not the least.. some of the days were a bit of a slog at the last few miles... with it being November the days are short so it meant getting up and cracking on early so i spent less time walking in the dark where your body tends to feel tired quicker.
I didn't plan any of my water or food stops or where i would camp as this way i find its more of a real adventure not knowing where you will end up and i also knew there would be shops on route... It's England after all and we are never really "surviving" out there therefore i knew i would be sweet.
As far as the camps went i would figure out around lunchtime where i would roughly end up for the evening to i would pick a feature off the map to head too to check out first.. or like you will see in the video i sometimes just stumble across cool little spots that offer me shelter and protection from the elements without even having to put my tarp up.
Anyway.... Cheers for watching and Subscribe if you like the content.

The History of England: The Anglo-Saxon Invasion of Britain
The Migration Period shook Europe and formed the basis of modern countries known to us today. In particular, it significantly affected the British Isles. Since the 5th century AD tribes — Saxons, Jutes, Angles, Frisians — arrived actively from the continent. On the islands, they were opposed by the native inhabitants, the Britons, who were not welcoming the conquerors. The confrontation, which went down in history as the Anglo-Saxon Invasion, began.
Over several centuries of wars, new kingdoms rose, becoming the fundamentals, over which modern England with its counties will one day emerge. The conquerors brought a new political system to the islands, along with a new religion — Christianity. It is from this period of the ancient history of England that the legends about King Arthur origin...

How was England formed?
How was England formed?
The existence of England is one that is often taken for granted and looked at far too scarcely. This may be due to the overshadowing history of the development of Great Britain and the United Kingdom, but nonetheless, in order for these unions to be formed, England had to already exist - and it actually has since 927 AD. So, how was England created, who claimed the land before the English, and how did it become the nation that we know today?...

The History of England: The Viking Invasion
The Viking age in England was a time of active invasions by Scandinavian pirates, in particular, when they reached the shores of the British Isles and began their conquests. The Vikings erased old kingdoms from the map and established their own. What the Vikings did not expect in England was to meet active resistance from the local Anglo-Saxon kings.
The confrontation on the territory of the British Isles lasted for several centuries. Battles continued on land and at sea, in the mountains and near castles. Such names as Ivar the Boneless, Ubba and Halfdan Ragnarsson, Harald Fairhair or Alfred the Great, who opposed them, inspired many stories - for example, the TV series "Vikings" or the video game "Assassin's Creed Valhalla". HADLEIGH CASTLE | The Ruined ESSEX Castle that Hosted ROYALTY, Bandits and GHOSTS!
Hadleigh Castle, located in Essex, England, is a striking medieval ruin with a commanding position overlooking the Thames Estuary. Built in the early 13th century during the reign of Henry III, the castle was originally intended as a defensive stronghold and a statement of royal authority.
Its strategic location allowed it to guard against potential threats from the continent while also providing expansive views across the surrounding landscape.
The castle was significantly expanded by Edward III in the 14th century, who transformed it into a lavish residence, symbolizing his wealth and power. However, over time, the soft clay soil on which the castle was built caused parts of it to subside, and by the 16th century, Hadleigh Castle was abandoned and fell into ruin.

It is from this period of the ancient history of England that the legends about King Arthur originate. Watch the video to get a grasp on the The Anglo-Saxon Invasion, also known as the Heptarchy.

Watch the new video to learn about the rise and fall of the Viking Age in England.

Why You SHOULD Visit Lincoln England
We've received a lot of suggestions to visit Lincoln and we are so glad it was recommended because it is a lovely city! We're spending 2 days exploring places like Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle along with lots of other stops in the city. We had an amazing time seeing things like the Magna Carta, taking a boat tour of one of the oldest canals in the UK, and having great meals at places like Brown's Pie Shop. It's one of our favorite places we've visited and we think you need to visit Lincoln too!
We'd definitely love to see more of Lincolnshire and the surrounding areas. Do you have any must visit spots for next time? Also, what cathedrals are in your top 5 list? (it's very important research for Cara lol).
Check out these other English cities with magnificent cathedrals:

Using a copy of the 1923 Michelin Guide, I'll be travelling the country to see what remains and what's changed since it's publication. The guide offers suggestions on thing to see and where to stay all with the goal of getting you out there and exploring in your motor vehicle.

If you're looking for an arrow straight road to test those high speed vehicles.. the A15 would have been perfect, if it wasn't for the speed cameras.
Today, not only are we exploring the straightest road the UK has to offer, we're doing so in style with a Ford Mustang! I might have taken a little inspiration from a Top Gear episode of yester year..
Special thanks to the Red Arrows display team for their brief appearances.

Lincoln is a cathedral city and the administrative hub of the county which ties together rich cultural history, urbanised modern living, and a taste of rural landscapes.
With a population of 130,000, Lincoln is the largest settlement in the county. The city was found to be the 5th happiest place to live and work in the UK in 2019 and prides itself in its balance of rich culture and history – boasting a range of museums, live venues and country parks, alongside many unique pubs and bars. Lincoln offers excellent travel infrastructure with rail links across the country, including Sheffield, Leeds and London King’s Cross. On top of this, the city offers a range of innovative employment opportunities in sectors such as engineering, tourism, and IT that continue to thrive in the heart of the city. For those that seek a more suburban lifestyle, the city offers many outlying villages and hamlets less than 20 minutes from the city centre - making Lincoln a popular choice for a range of demographics to settle.

We are sharing unique and geeky places all around the world every week, so make sure you check out the rest of our videos and subscribe. Please leave us a comment to let us know where you’d like to see a video from next!

We're back in Lincolnshire this week and what a fun filled episode it is. Travelling from Lincoln to Grimsby, I'll be stopping in to look at many interesting things like an abandoned theme park, a pretend castle ruin and of course we'll be on the hunt of and abandoned road bridge.
Using a copy of the 1923 Michelin Guide, I'll be travelling the country to see what remains and what's changed since it's publication. The guide offers suggestions on thing to see and where to stay all with the goal of getting you out there and exploring in your motor vehicle.
