Cape Wrath (Gaelic: Am Parbh, known as An Carbh in Lewis) is a cape in the Durness parish of the county of Sutherland in the Highlands of Scotland. It is the most north-westerly point in mainland Britain.
The cape is separated from the rest of the mainland by the Kyle of Durness and consists of 107 square miles (280km2) of moorland wilderness known as the Parph. The first road in the district was built in 1828 by the lighthouse commission across the Parph. This road is only accessible via the passenger ferry that crosses the Kyle of Durness.
The name Cape Wrath is derived from Old Norsehvarf ("turning point"). In this context "Wrath" is pronounced /ˈræθ/ (to rhyme with "math"), in contrast to the ordinary English word "wrath", usually pronounced /ˈrɒθ/ in British English (to rhyme with "Goth"). Vikings are believed to have used the cape as a navigation point where they would turn their ships.
Cape Wrath (1979) was the second album recorded by British jazz-fusion duo Morrissey–Mullen, although it was the first they recorded in the United Kingdom. It featured a rhythm section which included Max Middleton, Richard Bailey and Kuma Harada, who would go on to form part of Snowy White's later line-ups.
Cape Wrath (Meadowlands in the United States) is a British dramatelevision series produced by Ecosse Films which focuses on a family trying to escape its past while confronting an even more uncertain future. The series opens with Danny (David Morrissey) and Evelyn Brogan (Lucy Cohu) along with their two teenage children Zoe (Felicity Jones) and Mark (Harry Treadaway) entering a witness protection programme, moving to a bucolic neighbourhood, Meadowlands, to begin a new life. Picturesque and crime-free, Meadowlands appears to be a suburban paradise where the Brogan family can start a new life. However they soon realise that it is not so easy to escape the past and their safe haven becomes a world of paranoia and psychological intrigue with surprises around every corner.
The series is produced by Ecosse Films for Channel 4 in the UK and Showtime in the US, and premièred in the United States on 17 June 2007 at 22:00 EST, on Showtime. The United Kingdom première was on 10 July 2007 at 22:00 BST on Channel 4.
Winding through the beautiful lochs, glens and mountains of the Scottish Highlands, the Cape Wrath Ultra™ is an ultra-running expedition through some of the world's most inspirational landscapes, including Morar, Knoydart, Kintail, Torridon, Assynt and Sutherland.
This film follows the progress of the inaugural race in May 2016, focusing on some of the first ever participants to take on this extraordinary adventure.
The Cape Wrath Ultra™ took place in May 2016 and was filmed by Rich Heap and Ben Pritchard.

However I believe it should be called the Cape Wrath Challenge as it will challenge you both mentally and physically. It will challenge your fitness, mental fortitude, hill skills and gear selection unlike anything you may have done before.
Due to time restraints I had decided to spend 7 days backpacking the Southern Section of the trail with one rest day in the middle. My hike would start from the Corran Ferry crossing and finish up at the small village of Ullapool on the shores of Loch Broom.
This was the last section of the CWT I had still to complete having already walked the northern section southward from the Lighthouse to Ullapool and having to pull out due to blisters last year.
It normally takes 2-3 weeks to cover the 230-miles through the highlands of Scotland. Most will usually start from Fort William and finally ending up at the Cape Wrath lighthouse which is the most north westerly point in the whole of the UK.
The terrain and weather can make travel on the trail difficult day to day and good navigation skills are a must. Many of the sections involves multiple steep ascents and descents which can be difficult, often in remote areas of the highlands with no visible paths or routes.

The Cape Wrath Trail is one of the most spectacular long distance hikes in the world. An unmarked route through the Scottish Highlands, between Fort William and Cape Wrath, which covers approximately 260 miles and over 40,000ft of ascent. I tackled the route solo in 2019, carrying a couple of small cameras and a drone in my backpack; this is the result.

Both at last shall reach the sea Both setting out for the last time See white death dancing on the shore I don't know what I'll find But I know what I'm leaving behind It ends here on the coast It's over now for another year
