James Robert "Bob" Wills (March 6, 1905 – May 13, 1975) was an AmericanWestern swing musician, songwriter, and bandleader. Considered by music authorities as the co-founder of Western swing, he was universally known as the King of Western Swing (after the death of Spade Cooley who used the moniker "King Of Western Swing" from 1942 to 1969.)
Wills formed several bands and played radio stations around the South and West until he formed the Texas Playboys in 1934 with Wills on fiddle, Tommy Duncan on piano and vocals, rhythm guitarist June Whalin, tenor banjoist Johnnie Lee Wills, and Kermit Whalin, who played steel guitar and bass. The band played regularly on a Tulsa, Oklahoma radio station and added Leon McAuliffe on steel guitar, pianist Al Stricklin, drummer Smokey Dacus, and a horn section that expanded the band's sound. Wills favored jazz-like arrangements and the band found national popularity into the 1940s with such hits as "Steel Guitar Rag", "New San Antonio Rose", "Smoke On The Water", "Stars And Stripes On Iwo Jima", and "New Spanish Two Step".
"Can't Get Enough (Of Your Love)" is a single from the Kim Wilde album Love Moves.
It was the first single from this album to be released in France (in its full-length album form) and the second in the rest of the world (where it was edited). The single was not released in the UK.
The track was extended for the 12" and CD-single formats.
The song's music video, filmed in Barbados, was directed by Clifton Bell. While in Barbados for his last performance as the official opening act for Rihanna's Loud Tour, Cole shot the music video for his debut album's second single, "Can't Get Enough", with Songz and Rihanna, who provided a cameo while in her home town.
Chart performance
The song first charted on the week of October 29, 2011 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at number eighty-six. It has since peaked at number seven.
The Texas was built in October 1856 for the Western & Atlantic Railroad by locomotive manufacturer Danforth, Cooke and Company in Paterson, New Jersey. It was subsequently shipped from Paterson to the Port of Savannah, traveled the Georgia Rail Road & Banking Company and Macon & Western Railroad, before finally being delivered to the W&A headquarters in Atlanta that same year.
Texas Homecare was a chain of DIY stores in the United Kingdom and Ireland, that operated from 1972 until 1999.
History
Texas Homecare was established in 1972, by Manny, Sydney and Gerald Fogel, who had previously founded the high street specialist paint and wallpaper chain Home Charm. Taking their lead from America, they revolutionised the United Kingdom DIY market, with the introduction of the 'DIY shed' style outlet. Mervyn Fogel, co-founder and managing director for over 25 years, had a vision of turning the small family business into a DIY retail empire.
Texas specialised in higher volume, lower margin DIY products. The company had been adversely affected, by a recession and depressed housing market.
Acquisition
With its acquisition, Homebase hoped to hold around 10% of the total DIY market in the United Kingdom. In May 1995, it was announced that only 26 Texas stores were to close, with limited redundancies. Sainsbury's found that full conversion to the Homebase format was an investment worth making, and allowed £50million for the task.
Although produced for television, Texas was released on home video first. This decision was not due to its quality, but to recoup its $12 million production cost feasibly as broadcast networks had shied away from expensive productions.
Remember, we used to call it Country & Western.
