Burst mode (alternatively burst-mode) is a generic electronics term referring to any situation in which a device is transmitting data repeatedly without going through all the steps required to transmit each piece of data in a separate transaction. The usual reason for having a burst mode capability, or using burst mode, is to increase data throughput. The steps left out while performing a burst mode transaction may include A: waiting for input from another device; B: waiting for an internal process to terminate before continuing the transfer of data; or C: transmitting information which would be required for a complete transaction, but which is inherent in the use of burst mode.
In the case of DMA, the DMA controller and the device are given exclusive access to the bus without interruption; the CPU is also freed from handling device interrupts.
The actual manner in which burst modes work varies from one type of device to another; however, devices that have some sort of a standard burst mode include the following:
Burst or continuous high speed is a shooting mode in still cameras. In burst mode several photographs are captured in quick succession by either pressing the shutter button or holding it down. This is used mainly when the subject is in successive motion, such as sports photography. The photographer can then select the best image of the group or arrange them in a sequence to study the transitions in detail.
The speed at which successive photographs can be captured depends on several factors, but mainly on the processing power of the camera. Disabling certain features such as post processing which the camera applies automatically after capturing each image will usually allow a faster rate of capture. While some cheaper point and shoot cameras may have a multi-image burst function which allows them to capture a number of frames within a second with a single shutter button press, most film and digital SLR cameras will continue to actuate the shutter for as long as the button is held down, until the memory card fills or the battery runs out, although the rate of capture may significantly slow when the camera's data buffer becomes full.
In automatic firearms, burst mode or burst fire is a firing mode enabling the shooter to fire a predetermined number of rounds, usually two or three rounds on hand held weapons and over 100 on anti-aircraft weapons, with a single pull of the trigger. This firing mode is commonly used in submachine guns, assault rifles and carbines. Other types of firearms, such as machine pistols (e.g., the Beretta 93R) may also have a burst mode.
The burst mode is normally employed as an intermediate fire mode between semi-automatic and fully automatic, although some firearms lack a "full auto" capability and use a burst mode instead. For instance, the M16A4 (the standard-issue service rifle of the USMC) has, in addition to the semi-automatic mode, a three-round burst mode, which replaced the fully automatic mode of the previous M16A1. The reason for this replacement was the massive waste of ammunition and very poor performance of soldiers who fired their rifles in fully automatic mode during the Vietnam War.

Digimon Data Squad Unreleased Soundtrack - Burst Mode Digivolution (Clean)
They said it couldn't be done, but I have accomplished the impossible. Behold, the completed Burst Mode theme (more or less)!
You guys have been asking about this track since I first started uploading these, but I never considered it a possibility. In fact, I had written this theme off as unsalvageable and perhaps even lost to time, but I was rewatching Data Squad a short while ago and something occurred to me. A lot of the Burst Mode scenes have minimal dialogue, and the digivolutions themselves don't even have a "ShineGreymon digivolve to...!" sort of line. So, I took my DVDs, ripped the audio and spliced a little bit of every Burst Mode scene into this track, to create the cleanest sounding Burst Mode theme we're likely to get unless Thorsten uploads the track to his website. So, I took my DVDs, ripped the audio and spliced a little bit of every Burst Mode scene into this track, to create the cleanest sounding Burst Mode theme we're likely to get unless Thorsten uploads the track to his website. Thanks for listening guys. It warms my heart to know there are several more fans of Data Squad's music out there. The small but dedicated following these videos get has kept me pumping them out for the past year and I will continue to do so until I finish the whole soundtrack.
Just know, however, that this was an exceptionally large amount of work on my part, so I won't be doing this splicing technique for any other soundtracks since, in my opinion, none of them are worth the effort. That's not to say they're bad, but they pale in comparison to the Burst Mode theme, so if I do decide to upload them, they'll be in the format of the "Human Potential" soundtrack, where I've inverted the stereo tracks to cancel out the vocals, simply because it's easier that way and it sounds good enough as is.
Composer: Thorsten Laewe (https://www.thorlaewe.com/music)
If you're like me and are a big fan of Thorsten's other work for shows like Zatch Bell, Stitch, and Mega Man Star Force, check out his website here for some playlists. There are no Data Squad soundtracks unfortunately, but if you like Data Squad's music you'll almost certainly like the rest of his work, as his musical style is evident in every single one of his tracks.
