Buffer solution
A buffer solution (more precisely, pH buffer or hydrogen ion buffer) is an aqueous solution consisting of a mixture of a weak acid and its conjugate base, or vice versa. Its pH changes very little when a small or moderate amount of strong acid or base is added to it and thus it is used to prevent changes in the pH of a solution. Buffer solutions are used as a means of keeping pH at a nearly constant value in a wide variety of chemical applications. Many life forms thrive only in a relatively small pH range so they utilize a buffer solution to maintain a constant pH. In nature, the bicarbonate buffering system is used to regulate the pH of blood.
Principles of buffering
Buffer solutions achieve their resistance to pH change because of the presence of an equilibrium between the acid HA and its conjugate base A−.
When some strong acid is added to an equilibrium mixture of the weak acid and its conjugate base, the equilibrium is shifted to the left, in accordance with Le Chatelier's principle. Because of this, the hydrogen ion concentration increases by less than the amount expected for the quantity of strong acid added. Similarly, if strong alkali is added to the mixture the hydrogen ion concentration decreases by less than the amount expected for the quantity of alkali added. The effect is illustrated by the simulated titration of a weak acid with pKa = 4.7. The relative concentration of undissociated acid is shown in blue and of its conjugate base in red. The pH changes relatively slowly in the buffer region, pH = pKa ± 1, centered at pH = 4.7 where [HA] = [A−]. The hydrogen ion concentration decreases by less than the amount expected because most of the added hydroxide ion is consumed in the reaction

CONFIG.SYS
CONFIG.SYS is the primary configuration file for the DOS and OS/2 operating systems. It is a special ASCII text file that contains user-accessible setup or configuration directives evaluated by the operating system during boot. CONFIG.SYS was introduced with DOS 2.0.
Usage
The directives in this file configure DOS for use with devices and applications in the system. The CONFIG.SYS directives also set up the memory managers in the system. After processing the CONFIG.SYS file, DOS proceeds to load and execute the command shell specified in the SHELL line of CONFIG.SYS, or COMMAND.COM if there is no such line. The command shell in turn is responsible for processing the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
CONFIG.SYS is composed mostly of name=value directives which look like variable assignments. In fact, these will either define some tunable parameters often resulting in reservation of memory, or load files, mostly device drivers and TSRs, into memory.
In DOS, CONFIG.SYS is located in the root directory of the drive from which the system was booted.

Chad provides a comprehensive lesson on buffers and how to do buffer calculations. A buffer is a solution that resists changes in pH and is composed of a weak acid and its conjugate base. Chad discusses at length buffer solution preparation and the related buffer solution preparation calculations. He demonstrates that a buffer can be prepared with the proper ratio of any of the following three mixtures: weak acid / conjugate base, weak acid / strong base, or weak base / strong acid. A weak acid and its conjugate base should be mixed in approximately a 1:1 ratio. A weak acid and strong base should be mixed in approximately a 2:1 ratio. And a weak base and strong acid should be mixed in approximately a 2:1 ratio also. It is also shown that the buffer range is equal to pKa +/- 1, and that polyprotic acids therefore have multiple buffer ranges possible.
pH Calculations with buffers are also demonstrated using the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation. Chad derives the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation from the Ka expression and then uses it to show how to calculate the pH of a buffer solution. Finally, he also shows how to calculate the pH change of a buffer following the addition of strong acid or strong base.

What is Buffer?
Buffer is a Logic gate, whose output is the same as the input. It has a high current
driving capability. It is typically used in digital circuits when one wants to drive the low impedance load or to increase the circuit's fanout.
What is Tri-State Buffer?
It is the buffer with two inputs. The Data Input and Control Input.
The control input decides whether the input will reach to the output or not.
When the control input is high then the Tri-State buffer acts as a normal buffer. And when the control input is low then it operates in Hi-Z mode. In this mode, the buffer provides high impedance and it isolates the output from the input side.
This buffer has three output states, logic '1', logic '0', and Hi-Z mode. Since it has three output states, so it is known as the Tri-State Buffer or Three State Buffer.
This video will be helpful to all the students of science and engineering in understanding what is buffer and Tri-State buffer, and why they are used in digital circuits.

Chad provides a comprehensive lesson on buffers and how to do buffer calculations. A buffer is a solution that resists changes in pH and is composed of a weak acid and its conjugate base. Chad discusses at length buffer solution preparation and the related buffer solution preparation calculations. He demonstrates that a buffer can be prepared with the proper ratio of any of the following three mixtures: weak acid / conjugate base, weak acid / strong base, or weak base / strong acid. A weak acid and its conjugate base should be mixed in approximately a 1:1 ratio. A weak acid and strong base should be mixed in approximately a 2:1 ratio. And a weak base and strong acid should be mixed in approximately a 2:1 ratio also. It is also shown that the buffer range is equal to pKa +/- 1, and that polyprotic acids therefore have multiple buffer ranges possible.
pH Calculations with buffers are also demonstrated using the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation. Chad derives the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation from the Ka expression and then uses it to show how to calculate the pH of a buffer solution. Finally, he also shows how to calculate the pH change of a buffer following the addition of strong acid or strong base.

What is Buffer?
Buffer is a Logic gate, whose output is the same as the input. It has a high current
driving capability. It is typically used in digital circuits when one wants to drive the low impedance load or to increase the circuit's fanout.
What is Tri-State Buffer?
It is the buffer with two inputs. The Data Input and Control Input.
The control input decides whether the input will reach to the output or not.
When the control input is high then the Tri-State buffer acts as a normal buffer. And when the control input is low then it operates in Hi-Z mode. In this mode, the buffer provides high impedance and it isolates the output from the input side.
This buffer has three output states, logic '1', logic '0', and Hi-Z mode. Since it has three output states, so it is known as the Tri-State Buffer or Three State Buffer.
This video will be helpful to all the students of science and engineering in understanding what is buffer and Tri-State buffer, and why they are used in digital circuits.
