The first two series, published by Vertigo, consisted of two four-issue mini-series. The two series were printed monthly, the first beginning in November 2001 and the second beginning in January 2003.
A third series, published by Avatar Press and comprising three issues, commenced in October 2014. A fourth series began publication in June 2015.
Each mini-series consisted of 3 or 4 stand-alone issues. Most of the stories were set during World War II. One exception was set during the Spanish Civil War and another in the Middle-East in 1973. Each deals with the horror of war experienced by those on the Front line.
Series 1
Johann's Tiger
In the final days of World War Two the commander of a Tiger tank tries to save his men by convincing them to desert so they may surrender to the Americans before they are killed fighting the Soviets.
Lloyd (b. Lloyd Buonconsiglio, 1947, Seattle) and Brown (b. Michael Lookofsky, April 25, 1949, Brooklyn) were introduced by their fathers, Peter Buonconsiglio and Harry Lookofsky, two old friends who had worked together for years as sessionviolinists. Lloyd had been singing for years and had attracted local notice recording as Lloyd London. Brown had led, wrote and played with his group The Left Banke, which had made the U.S.charts with "Walk Away Renee" (#5, 1966) and "Pretty Ballerina" (#15, 1967).
The two set about becoming a Beatlesque band. They recruited New Yorkers Love and Madey and located an interested record label in Kama Sutra. A self-titled album and a single– "I'm Coming Home" (#42, 1972) – followed.
All of the tracks were released on previous albums by Stonehill (some of which remain unavailable on CD to this day), except "I Thirst For You," "Charlie the Weatherman," and the Acoustic Version of "Hope of Glory." These new tracks were recorded at The Green Room, with the Lost Dogs and Terry Scott Taylor producing.
"This record is dedicated with love to the memory of John Mark Heard, who always told the true story."

A syndicate is a self-organizing group of individuals, companies, corporations or entities formed to transact some specific business, to pursue or promote a shared interest. In most cases formed groups aim to scale up their profits. Although there are many legal syndicates formed around the world, the usage of the term "the syndicate" in colloquial English often refers to one involved in illegal activities.
The term is also associated with anarchist theory, specifically anarcho-syndicalism, in which it forms an alternative to both the nation state and capitalist corporations.
Etymology
The word syndicate comes from the French word syndicat which means trade union (syndic meaning administrator), from the Latin word syndicus which in turn comes from the Greek word σύνδικος (syndikos), which means caretaker of an issue; compare to ombudsman or representative.
Definition
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines syndicate as a group of people or businesses that work together. This may be a council or body or association of people or an association of concerns, officially authorized to undertake a duty or negotiate business with an office or jurisdiction. It may mean an association of racketeers in organized crime. It may refer to a business concern that sells materials for publication (newspaper, radio, TV, internet) in a number of outlets simultaneously, or a group of newspapers under one management.
The protagonists are the X-Men, a group of mutants whose unusual genetics grant them superpowers which set them apart from the rest of humanity. They are led by Professor Charles Xavier, the world's most powerful telepath. The series features many characters and storylines similar to those of the original X-Men series. Ultimate X-Men almost completely ignores supernatural or mystical elements as plot devices, and the X-Men have no secret identities, and mutants are mistrusted and hunted down. The series began in 2001 under writer Mark Millar and artists Adam Kubert and Andy Kubert, whilst the final issues of the series were written by Aron Coleite and penciled by Mark Brooks.
War is a large pastel on paper composition measuring 1600mm x 1200mm. A rabbit-headed woman stands prominently in the center carrying a wounded child, surrounded by several realistic and fantastic figures recalling a style Rego describes as "beautiful grotesque".
The painting first appeared as part of Rego's "Jane Eyre and Other Stories" exhibition at Marlborough Fine Art in London in 2003. It was inspired by a photograph that appeared in The Guardian near the beginning of the Iraq War, in which a girl in a white dress is seen running from an explosion, with a woman and her baby unmoving behind her. In an interview conducted in relation to the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía's 2007 exhibition, Rego said of this painting, "I thought I would do a picture about these children getting hurt, but I turned them into rabbits' heads, like masks. It’s very difficult to do it with humans, it doesn’t get the same kind of feel at all. It seemed more real to transform them into creatures."

Sedating every breath
And nothing makes sense
With white noise blaring in my ear
Broken lights have us running blind
In the dark we are burning out
Unexposed and confined
To the world that led us on
As long as there's time left
We are all lost together
We're defined by what we despise
I'm looking for a breach in the wall
That we're putting up
To tear a whole in the life that we're breathin' for

With the same thirst
Nothing but salt to dry our insides out
Dive with me to find out
Just how deep this all goes
And why we need it all
I'll try my best to understand
As long as there's tome left we are all lost
I can't stand to watch them crawl
Slaves to the world that they call home
I can't stand to watch them crawl
Slaves to the world that they call home

They began to record their second LP adding a cover of little known tune called "Brother Louie" that had been written by Errol Brown and Tony Wilson and performed by UK band Hot Chocolate. The song was about a white man bringing his black girlfriend home to meet his parents who turn out to be racists. The message was timely and the association of the repeated "Louie Louie Louieee" chorus paid tribute to the rock chestnut "Louie Louie" by the Kingsmen brought them instant recognition and a #1 pop hit for two weeks. Stories went on to record two more singles that failed to rival "Brother Louie" and the band broke up over the squabbles over the direction they should take. Ian went solo, his only hit being the Ric Ocasek written "Slip Away" that spent nine weeks on the chart, peaking at #50 in 1979. A couple of interesting footnotes to this story is that at a 1976 Lloyd recording session, Mick Jones and Ian MacDonald met and went on to find Lou Gramm to rock the pop charts as Foreigner. The second is when Gladys Knight heard "Brother Louie" she had Neil Bogart approach Stories producer Richie Wise and Kenny Kerner to produce "I've Got To Use My Imagination". She loved the sound they came up with and it resulted in a #4 pop and #1 R&B hit for her and her Pips.
