Sketching A Victorian Era Bristol Street From A Historic 1866 Photograph | Studio Vlog
Visit my Etsy shop to see the finished print: https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/DrawingsFromAnna
While wandering through Pinterest the other day, I stumbled across an old photograph from 1866 taken at the junction of Steep Street and Trenchart Street in Bristol, England. I loved the look of the gritty old buildings and the general composition of the photograph so much that I decided to try and recreate it through watercolour and ink! I also thought it would be a good challenge for me to try and paint something using a limited palette of basically grey, black and brown, and thus a new addition to my sketch book has been born!
Like I mentioned in the video, I'm SO happy with how this turned out that I decided to turn it into a print for my Etsy shop - so if you're at all interested, please take...

Chumbawamba - In Memoriam: Margaret Thatcher - So Long So Long (Live in Bristol)
Kept in reserve until the day Mrs.Thatcher moved on, 'So Long So Long' performed by Chumbawamba in May 2009 sums up the feelings of many people in the UK.

The Tennessee Farm Boy Who Accidentally Started The 2nd Bloodiest War Ever
This video wasn't intended to make such a perfect double feature with the previous one (about Wallace Fard Muhammad). But they sure do work well back-to-back!
This is another episode researched and mostly written by the great Nick Miller, the same guy who wrote my Dalai Lama episode and helped me with research on the Social Credit episode. There are some inconsistencies in Roberts' story, mostly notably, who was overseeing his missionary work? While he seemed to be independent and adventurous throughout his whole career, the Boston-based Baptist missionary board he'd initially established ties to at the start of his career in Macau must have had some control over his work throughout his whole time in China, since they prevented him from baptizing Hong Xiuquan and condemned him at the end ...

On my channel i will teach you the steps needed to pull this off, and then you can put it into practice on the range! After watching this airgun hunting video, you'll be able to take down your targets down with ease!

THE HISTORY OF BLACK BULLETS - A GEORDIE'S FAVOURITE SWEET
Today’s video is on black bullets, a largely forgotten sweet that was popular in the North East of England!
The miners of the Northumberland and Durham Coalfield sucked and crunched the strong peppermint boiled sweets whilst working underground in hot and dusty conditions and a tin or packet of black bullets is a regular fixture in pockets and shelves in this region.
Sweeties has long been part of the North East’s heritage; from Dainty Dinahs toffees, tyne mints to Wilkin’s red boy toffee, I think black bullets stand out as the region’s most recognisable!
I absolutely loved researching this topic and used the below in my research:

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Seven 1866 Screen Repair / Replacement Tips
Here are some good tips on how to avoid damaging your Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Seven 1866 when you are doing a Screen Repair / Replacement. I managed to damage the Wifi Antennae, mainly because it was hidden under the glue tape from the screen. I bought a brand new genuine Wifi Antennae from Ali Express, worked a charm. Also beware of the speakers, they can easily get damaged when removing the screen. I was unsure how the screen connectors disconnected, they snap off just like standard Mobile Phone connectors, so you can just get a plastic splugger underneath and pry them up. The screen connector cable are held in place with metal shields on the screens itself, which can be pried up to reveal standard screen connectors underneath. Lastly I had to restart the tablet for it to recognise...

The cemetery was a South West region runner-up and has since received a £4.8 million Heritage Lottery Fund grant.[9] The cemetery is undergoing restoration, however the Mortuary Chapel,[10] Entrance Lodges and Gates[11] and Nonconformist Mortuary Chapel[12] remain on the English Heritage Heritage at Risk Register.

This is another episode researched and mostly written by the great Nick Miller, the same guy who wrote my Dalai Lama episode and helped me with research on the Social Credit episode. There are some inconsistencies in Roberts' story, mostly notably, who was overseeing his missionary work? While he seemed to be independent and adventurous throughout his whole career, the Boston-based Baptist missionary board he'd initially established ties to at the start of his career in Macau must have had some control over his work throughout his whole time in China, since they prevented him from baptizing Hong Xiuquan and condemned him at the end of the Taiping Rebellion.
Also, the 30 million figure is an upper bound; experts' consensus ranges from about 15 to 30 million.
What else should have been illegal under the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom?

18:06 random fun fact - that opening line doesn’t actually come from the original version of the book (Romance of the Three Kingdoms, from the 14th century). It was added in a revision centuries later. Which is wild since it’s arguably the best-known quote in all of Chinese literature - it’s as if the whole “To be or not to be” monologue was added to Hamlet in a 19th century reprint.
My shirt says "If you must smoke, smoke salmon." I got it last summer when I was working the salmon packing line in Bristol Bay,

Lastly I had to restart the tablet for it to recognise the Screen Touch. NBBBB - Be careful, Microsoft Does Not Warn You Before it Factory Resets. I made this mistake and fortunately the customer did not need the data. The video also gives you a good look inside the entire tablet. Happy Fixing, Roland from DrFixit Bristol

Bristol Virginia - Birthplace of Country Music is still going strong.
Bristol Virginia is a historic town that has the honor of being the birthplace of Country music having recorded some of it's first stars back in the 1920's. It's a charming city with lots of unique hotels, bars, and music pouring out onto the streets. That along with the Birthplace of Country Music Museum makes it a great stop along the crooked trail.

Bristol is a borough in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, 23 miles (37 km) northeast of Center City Philadelphia, opposite Burlington, New Jersey on the Delaware River. Bristol Borough predates Philadelphia, being settled in 1681 and first incorporated in 1720. After 1834, the town became very important to the development of the American Industrial Revolution as the terminus city of the Delaware Canal providing greater Philadelphia with the days High Tech Anthracite fuels from the Lehigh Canal via Easton. The canal and a short trip on the Delaware also gave the town access to the mineral resources available in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York via each of the Morris Canal, the Delaware and Hudson Canal, and the Delaware and Raritan Canal, and connected the community to those markets and trade from New York City. These were among the factors spurring development of Bristol and nearby towns, explaining in part the industries which developed in the region.
Although its charter was revised in 1905, the original charter remains in effect, making Bristol Borough the third oldest borough in Pennsylvania after Chester and Germantown. Bristol Borough had 7,104 residents in 1900; 9,256 in 1910; 10,273 in 1920; and 11,895 in 1940. The most recent census has the population at 9,726 2010 census. The current mayor is Joseph A. Saxton. Bristol Borough is served by SEPTA's Trenton Line.
