In 2005 the airport had 59,379 aircraft operations, average 162 per day: 99% general aviation, 1% air taxi and <1% military. 220 aircraft are based at this airport: 64% single engine, 23% glider, 11% multi-engine, 1% helicopters, <1% jet aircraft and <1% ultralight.
The airport covers an area of 160 acres (65ha) at an elevation of 3,462 feet (1,055 m) above mean sea level. It has two runways: 3/21 is 3,564 by 48 feet (1,086 x 15 m) with an asphalt surface; 17/35 is 2,340 by 75 feet (713 x 23 m) with a turf surface.
For the 12-month period ending June 11, 2009, the airport had 500 general aviation aircraft operations, an average of 42 per month. At that time there were 6 aircraft based at this airport: 4 single-engine and 1 multi-engine and 1 ultralight.
Unionville Municipal Airport covers an area of 62 acres (25 ha) at an elevation of 1,046 feet (319 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 17/35 with an asphalt surface measuring 2,805 by 49 feet (855 x 15 m).
For the 12-month period ending July 31, 2009, the airport had 1,610 aircraft operations, an average of 134 per month: 99% general aviation and 1% military. At that time there were four aircraft based at this airport, all single-engine.
The city of Boulder is looking at a range of possibilities for the future of its small airport.

Boulder’s municipal airport became a hotly contested issue in 2024, especially after a group of housing advocates launched two ballot initiatives to close the airport and turn the area into a residential neighborhood.
Earlier this year, debate over the future of Boulder’s municipal airport grew heated as a community group successfully campaigned to get a pair of ballot initiatives to close the airport and ...
Those flights do not pay a dime to use BoulderCounty airports ... The issue at hand is whether the city of Boulder has the authority to make land use decisions about city-owned land — land where the Boulder MunicipalAirport is located.
Recently, there has been a new development in the city of Boulder’s lawsuit to clarify Boulder’s right to close the Boulder MunicipalAirport (BDU) ... their contracts with Boulder.
The university’s Aviation and Aerospace Science Department uses CentennialAirport (KAPA, a 20-minute drive from the main campus) and BoulderMunicipal Airport (KBDU, a 45-minute drive from the main campus) to conduct its flight training.
John Kinney named new airport director ... John Kinney, manager of the BoulderMunicipalAirport, has been appointed as the director of the Northern ColoradoRegional Airport ... But the two cities do not necessarily share the same vision for the airport.
On July 26, the City of Boulder filed litigation against the Federal Aviation Administration to affirm Boulder’s right to close our municipal airport (BDU) and define our remaining obligations to the FAA.
Good news! The controversial and potentially costly ballot measures to close the BoulderMunicipalAirport were withdrawn this week, a month after the city’s announcement that it had filed a lawsuit against the FAA.
The other day, I was just sharing the amazing experiences I have had soaring in a glider over the Flatirons out of BoulderMunicipalAirport... Lots of us have had our first experience in a small aircraft, thanks to Boulder Municipal Airport.
