One of the oldest cities in the United States, Boston was founded on the Shawmut Peninsula in 1630 by Puritan settlers from England. It was the scene of several key events of the American Revolution, such as the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, the Battle of Bunker Hill, and the Siege of Boston. Upon American independence from Great Britain, the city continued to be an important port and manufacturing hub, as well as a center for education and culture. Through land reclamation and municipal annexation, Boston has expanded beyond the original peninsula. Its rich history attracts many tourists, with Faneuil Hall alone drawing over 20million visitors per year. Boston's many firsts include the United States' first public school, Boston Latin School (1635), and first subway system (1897).
8/29/00– Boston, Massachusetts is a two-disc live album and the forty-third in a series of 72 live bootlegs released by the American alternative rock band Pearl Jam from the band's 2000 Binaural Tour. It was released along with the other official bootlegs from the first North American leg of the tour on February 27, 2001.
Overview
The album was recorded on August 29, 2000 in Mansfield, Massachusetts at the Tweeter Center. It was selected by the band as one of 18 "Ape/Man" shows from the tour, which, according to bassist Jeff Ament, were shows the band found "really exciting."Allmusic gave it four out of a possible five stars. Allmusic staff writer Zac Johnson said, "By far one of the best releases in this series." It debuted at number 163 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
The Boston refers to a series of various step dances, considered a slow Americanized version of the waltz presumably named after where it originated. It is completed in one measure with the weight kept on the same foot through two successive beats. The "original" Boston is also known as the New York Boston or Boston Point.
Boston is a novel by Upton Sinclair. It is a "documentary novel" that combines the facts of the case with journalistic depictions of actual participants and fictional characters and events. Sinclair indicted the American system of justice by setting his characters in the context of the prosecution and execution of Sacco and Vanzetti.
Research and writing
Sinclair worked from a passionate conviction that the executions of Sacco and Vanzetti constituted "the most shocking crime that has been committed in American history since the assassination of Abraham Lincoln" and a belief that "It will empoison our public life for a generation."
He interviewed Bartolomeo Vanzetti twice and conducted research following the execution of Sacco and Vanzetti in 1927. For his central character he used as his model a California acquaintance who recounted stories of her earlier life amid Boston's aristocracy. As part of his research he attended the funeral of a Boston industrialist. He recognized that some of his readers might find that disrespectful and offered this defense: "if you are a novelist you think about 'copy' and not about anybody's feelings, even your own." To verify dialogue, he even contacted a journalist to verify his fidelity in transcribing a jailhouse conversation. As a result, he avoided repeating the oft-quoted description of Sacco and Vanzetti, falsely attributed to Vanzetti, as "a good shoemaker and a poor fish peddler." In hundreds of letters he sought to acquire and verify details, such as the timing and physical setting of prison visits. He asked other correspondents to review parts of the manuscript for errors.
"Massachusetts" is a song by the Bee Gees, released in 1967. Written by Barry, Robin & Maurice Gibb. Robin Gibb sang lead vocals on this song and it would become one of his staple songs to perform during concerts on both Bee Gees and his solo concerts. It later appeared on their 1968 album, Horizontal.
The song was written in the Regis Hotel, New York City during a tour of the United States. The song was intended as an antithesis to flower power anthems of the time such as "Let's Go to San Francisco" and "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" in that the protagonist had been to San Francisco to join the hippies but was now homesick. The idea of the lights having gone out in Massachusetts was to suggest that everyone had gone to San Francisco.
"Massachusetts (Because of You Our Land is Free)," words and music by Bernard Davidson, was made the official patriotic song of Massachusetts on October 23, 1989.

Wat Nawamin - Thai Temple in Boston, Massachusetts, USA
This Thai temple is the largest Thai temple outside of the Kingdom of Thailand. This temple costed 60 million USD to make, and the first phase was completed in 2014.
It is beautiful both inside and out. The Thai monks are very welcoming. Every year they host the Thai food festival at Wat Nawamin, and it is a well run event with Thai music, dancing, and of course...Thai food!
If you are in town, please visit this temple. The community is lovely, and there is a great Thai school for children on the weekends.

Temple of Mnemon in Boston, Massachusetts
Using carefully engineered motion to manipulate our perceptions of time, place and self, Lilly’s meticulously constructed sculptures move in organic, fluid and mesmeric ways, pressing rational qualities against the sensuous response of each piece. Temple of Mnemon uses time and material to collapse the polarity of “me” and “not-me,” projecting a changing collage of self and world onto the sky.
Temple of Mnemon was recognized by Americans for the Arts Public Art Network (PAN) Year in Review which annually recognizes outstanding public art projects that represent the most compelling work for the year from across the country.

The Beautiful Boston, Massachusetts Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the 100th Operating temple of the church being dedicated on October 1st, 2000. The dedication of this temple met the goal made by President Gordon B. Hinckley, 15th President of the church, to have 100 operating temples by the end of the year 2000, Two more temples would be dedicated after this one.
The temple is not "officially" in Boston. It is located in the suburbs, in Belmont, right next to the Belmont Chapel which houses the Belmont 1st & 2nd Wards along with the Arlington Ward, in the Cambridge, Massachusetts Stake of Zion. Located along Route 2, also known as the Concord Turnpike, the temple is in plain view to the many drivers that pass at that turn of the highway since the temple is located at the highest part of the site.
The Temple grounds were purchased in the 1950's by the church to build a chapel. The church wanted the chapel to be built on the highest point of the land, but the chapel architect refused many times. He was quoted to say that, if the church wanted it on the top of the hill, they would need to find a new architect. The church chose to stick with the architects plan. In 1992 announced plans to build a regional temple in Hartford, Connecticut. Those plans were replaced when the church announced that they wanted to build two temples instead of one to better accommodate the members in the area. Boston and White Plains, New York were announced as the locations.
Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostels presided at the Ground Breaking in 1997. At the site dedication, Elder Scott said this, "we are joined by many beyond the veil. I can't help but feel very strongly that the Prophet Joseph Smith is aware of tblg,- and Brigham Young and John Taylor and others who worked so diligently to lay the foundation of this restored work. And this includes even from earlier times, the prophets of the Book of Mormon, many of whom had special interest in this area. I feel we are joined by multitudes who rejoice beyond the veil".
The temple was dedicated on October 1st, 2000 without it's steeple because of public opposition. They said that the steeple was too tall. Almost a year later, on September 23rd, 2001 The Steeple and Angel Moroni were installed in a tri-tempe Moroni installation on the very evening that Moroni visited the Prophet Joseph Smith.
Hours after the court ruled in favor of adding the steeple to the temple, Elder Loren C. Dunn the temple's first president died, knowing that the steeple and Moroni would be added.
The Boston, Massachusetts temple is said to be the greatest moment in Church History to happen in New England save the birth of the Prophet Joseph Smith.
