Boney M. is a vocal group created by German record producer Frank Farian. Originally based in Germany, the four original members of the group's official line-up were Jamaican-born singers Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett, Maizie Williams from Montserrat and Bobby Farrell from Aruba. The group was formed in 1976 and achieved popularity during the disco era of the late 1970s. Since the 1980s, various line-ups of the band have performed with different personnel.
History
1970s
German singer-songwriter Frank Farian (real name Franz Reuther) recorded the dance track "Baby Do You Wanna Bump" in December 1974. Farian sang the repeated line "Do you do you wanna bump?" in a deep voice (entirely studio created) as well as performing the high falsetto chorus. When the record was released as a single, it was credited to "Boney M.", a pseudonym Farian had created for himself after watching the Australian detective show Boney.
After a slow start, the song became a hit in the Netherlands and Belgium. It was then that Farian decided to hire performers to 'front' the group for TV performances. The Katja Wolfe booking agency found model-turned-singer Maizie Williams (originally from Montserrat) and her Jamaican singer friend Sheyla Bonnick for him, along with a dancer known only as "Mike" for the first gigs. Also during 1975, a girl named Nathalie joined but was soon replaced by Jamaica-born Claudja Barry. Then Bonnick and Mike left, and Maizie Williams brought in Bobby Farrell, a male exotic dancer from Aruba. Singer Marcia Barrett (also from Jamaica) joined the group, which then went through another change in line-up when Claudja Barry left in February 1976 to pursue a solo career as a disco singer. Finally Liz Mitchell, former member of the Les Humphries Singers, stepped in. The line-up was finalised with Liz Mitchell, Maizie Williams, Marcia Barrett, and Bobby Farrell.
20th Century Hits is a remix album of recordings by Boney M. released by BMG in 1999. This remix project which was credited as 'Boney M. 2000' spun off a series of new single releases; "Ma Baker– Somebody Scream" in early 1999 and previously included on French compilation Ultimate, "Daddy Cool '99" featuring Mobi T., "Caribbean Night Fever / Hooray! Hooray! It's A Holi-Holiday" and "Sunny".
Captain Matthew Reddy's ship 'Walker,' and his Lemurian allies, have won several battles against the cannibalistic lizard race, the Grik, who are waging a war of genocide against the sea-going Lemurians. The Grik sent a large force of 500 ships carrying 150,000-200,000 soldiers to destroy the Captain's crew and base at Baalkpaan. The Japanese heavy cruiser, the 'Amagi,' will be supporting the Grik lizard army. The 'Amagi' is a more powerful vessel than Reddy's antique, battered destroyers. With these odds, how will the Captain and his allies fare? Can the ship 'Walker' under Captain Reddy and his Lemurian allies prevail against the Grik and their allied ship the 'Amagi'? Will the Grik destroy the Captain's crew and base at Baalkpaan?

Career
His first novel Starfish (1999) reintroduced Lenie Clarke from his 1990 short story, "A Niche"; Clarke is a deep-ocean power-station worker physically altered for underwater living and the main character in the sequels: Maelstrom (2001), βehemoth: β-Max (2004) and βehemoth: Seppuku (2005). The last two volumes comprise one novel, published split in two for commercial considerations.Starfish, Maelstrom and βehemoth comprise a trilogy usually referred to as "Rifters" after the modified humans designed to work in deep-ocean environments.
His novel Blindsight, released in October 2006, was nominated for a Hugo Award. The novel has been described by Charles Stross as follows: "Imagine a neurobiology-obsessed version of Greg Egan writing a first contact with aliens story from the point of view of a zombieposthuman crewman aboard a starship captained by a vampire, with not dying as the boobie prize."Echopraxia (2014) is a "sidequel" about events happening on Earth and elsewhere concurrent with the events in Blindsight.
Maelstrom is the son of Phaeder, an Inhuman scientist banished from their city of Attilan for attempting cloning to increase Inhuman population numbers. Phaeder then lives among the Deviants, and bred with a Deviant female named Morga who gave birth to Maelstrom. With his father's tutoring, Maelstrom became a brilliant geneticist. After his father is incapacitated in an experiment, Maelstrom swears revenge on the Inhuman race and becomes a would-be conqueror.
Maelstrom has first contact with Earth's metahumans when he sends his superpowered minions - Phobius, Gronk and Helio - to the scientific island facility Hydro-Base to steal an Anti-Terrigen mist compound. This substance can undo the effects of the Terrigen Mist and deprive the Inhumans of their abilities. Maelstrom's Minions, however, are defeated by heroes the Thing and Stingray. They are assisted by two Inhumans, Gorgon and Karnak. This leads to an encounter with another of Maelstrom's minions - Deathurge - who kills the defeated trio. Mister Fantastic and the Inhuman Triton deduce that their opponent may have originated from the old site of Attilan, which was an undersea location.

• In the early 1970 they shambled forth from their respective lairs, gathering at an unholy place where cold stone walls dripped like the nose of the Nameless One. Guitars were plugged, drums taken - the session commenced.
• A tape documented the day's proceedings. It was a day of hard rock access, vocal ravings and bludgeoning instrumentation, for such was Hellhound. The ephemeral beast disbanded when the session ended, going on to join Leafhound, Daemon etc. Side one consists of finished songs, but Side Two as been expertly edited from jams recorded towards the end of the session, by which time the vocalist had fallen into the drumkit, his voice failing to reach the microphone. Quality is sublimely bad & the songs pure indulgence, but the roots of "Leafhound", "Daemon" & "Har...

Lots of people walk about proud and free Lift up your head start looking around There's a brandnew feeling of liberty Like a clear bell that's starting to sound Plantation Boy C'mon and get going Yesterday's chains have broken in two Plantation Boy The new move is growing Reaching the hills and the valleys and you Plantation Boy Plantation Boy Lots of smiling faces for you to meet So many hands to help you along Just shake off the mud that weighs down your feet If you stand tall you just can't go wrong Plantation Boy C'mon and get going Yesterday's chains have broken in two Plantation Boy The new move is growing Reaching the hills, the valleys and you Plantation Boy Plantation Boy Years of picking cotton for little pay Living alone in some wooden shack Sweating in the heat of a summer's day This is all over, you won't come back Plantation Boy C'mon and get going Yesterday's chains have broken in two Plantation Boy The new move is growing Reaching the hills, the valleys and you Plantation Boy Plantation Boy Plantation Boy C'mon and get going Yesterday's chains have broken in two Plantation Boy The new move is growing Reaching the hills, the valleys and you Plantation Boy Plantation Boy Plantation Boy Plantation Boy Wherever you may go Reaching the hills and the valleys and you...
