The track was inspired after Lemmy had read Len Deighton's novel Bomber. It became the inspiration for a forty foot aluminium tube lighting rig used for their shows, a replica of a Heinkel He 111 bomber that could fly backwards and forwards, and side to side - the first to be able to do so.
Bud Graziano said "Bomber" is a former heavyweight boxing champion who retired to private life on a ship. Jerry Calà is instead a Lombard punter who finds himself always in trouble and one day gets really big. In fact, he unwittingly sets himself against a group of thugs who answer only to the orders of a new boxing champion who is making the rounds in the area with his victories. Even Bomber collides later with this sample name Rosco. So Bomber, suddenly awakened his passion for boxing, opening a gym for amateurs and begins to train the promising young George. Below Bomber organizes meetings which also participates Rosco which, being too strong, knocks the young George. After so many other battles, Bomber is on the verge of losing everything he has slowly and painstakingly put together and so decides to confront himself in combat Rosco.
Bomber is the third studio album by English rock band Motörhead, released in October 1979, the same year than Overkill, their previous studio album. The album reached #12 on the UK charts and brought some of Motörhead's most popular songs, like "Bomber," "Dead Men Tell No Tales" and "Stone Dead Forever."
Background
By 1979, Motörhead had been together for five years and had amassed a loyal following in both punk and heavy metal circles. After recording an album for United Artists that the label shelved, the band released its eponymous debut LP in 1977, but it was with 1979's Overkill that the band hit their stride. The title track landed in the UK Top 40 and, after appearing again on Top of the Pops, the band returned to the studio that summer with legendary producer Jimmy Miller to record what would become Bomber. However, the band did not have the opportunity to work up the songs on the road, as they had with their previous album. "I wish we'd played the songs onstage first, like we did with the Overkill album, if we could've played them for three weeks on the road it would have been less slick," Joel McIver quotes singer and bassist Lemmy in his book Overkill: The Untold Story of Motörhead. "Listen to the way we play them live and compare that to the album". Nonetheless, Bomber would peak at #12 on the UK albums chart, their strongest showing up to that point.

Song's main focus was on leisure traffic between the northeastern United States and Florida, a market where it competed with JetBlue Airways. It also operated flights between Florida and the West Coast, and from the Northeast to the west coast.
Song's aircraft were fitted with leather seats and free personal entertainment systems at every seat, with audio MP3 programmable selections, trivia games that could be played against other passengers, a flight tracker, and satellite television (provided by the DISH Network). Song offered free beverages, but charged for meals and liquor. Both brand-name snack boxes and healthy organic meals were offered. The flight safety instructions were sung or otherwise artistically interpreted, depending on the cabin crew. In addition to crew uniforms designed by Kate Spade, customized cocktails created by nightlife impresario Rande Gerber and an in-flight exercise program designed by New York City fitness guru David Barton, the airline created its own distinct mark in the industry. The Song brand was placed on more than 200 flights a day which carried over ten million passengers.
