Hi9 | Normal blood sugar level? | Dr.Rakesh sahay | Endocrinologist
Diabetes is a common problem today, we see that 14% or 15% of the people have diabetes. And every other person you see may have diabetes, So very often we have these question that what is normal blood glucose level, because apart from diabetes we also have condition called pre-diabetes, that is were there is a high risk of developing diabetes but diabetes actually not there. So the Normal Blood Glucose Level is If you look at the fasting blood sugar level if you give the blood sample in the fasting stage and if the fasting glucose level is less than 100 it is normal. If it is 100 to 125 that is called as pre-diabetics and above 126 you are having diabetics, similarly if you look at the postprandial that means after 2 hours of the meal if you give a blood sample and if the blood sugar valu...

Diabetes, also known as diabetes mellitus, is a group of metabolic disorders characterized by a high blood sugar level (hyperglycemia) over a prolonged period of time.[12][13] Symptoms often include frequent urination, increased thirst and increased appetite.[2] If left untreated, diabetes can cause many health complications.[2] Acute complications can include diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state, or death.[3] Serious long-term complications include cardiovascular disease, stroke, chronic kidney disease, foot ulcers, damage to the nerves, damage to the eyes, and cognitive impairment.[2][5]
Diabetes is due to either the pancreas not producing enough insulin, or the cells of the body not responding properly to the insulin produced.[14] Insulin is a hormone which is responsible for helping glucose from food get into cells to be used for energy.[15] There are three main types of diabetes mellitus:[2]
Type 1 diabetes results from failure of the pancreas to produce enough insulin due to loss of beta cells.[2] This form was previously referred to as "insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus" or "juvenile diabetes".[2] The loss of beta cells is caused by an autoimmune response.[16] The cause of this autoimmune response is unknown.[2] Although Type 1 diabetes usually appears during childhood or adolescence, it can also develop in adults.[17]
Type 2 diabetes begins with insulin resistance, a condition in which cells fail to respond to insulin properly.[2] As the disease progresses, a lack of insulin may also develop.[18] This form was previously referred to as "non insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus" or "adult-onset diabetes".[2] Type 2 diabetes is more common in older adults, but a significant increase in the prevalence of obesity among children has led to more cases of type 2 diabetes in younger people.[19] The most common cause is a combination of excessive body weight and insufficient exercise.[2]
Gestational diabetes is the third main form, and occurs when pregnant women without a previous history of diabetes develop high blood sugar levels.[2] In women with gestational diabetes, blood sugar usually returns to normal soon after delivery. However, women who had gestational diabetes during pregnancy have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life.[20]
Type 1 diabetes must be managed with insulin injections.[2] Prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes involves maintaining a healthy diet, regular physical exercise, a normal body weight, and avoiding use of tobacco.[2] Type 2 diabetes may be treated with oral antidiabetic medications, with or without insulin.[21] Control of blood pressure and maintaining proper foot and eye care are important for people with the disease.[2] Insulin and some oral medications can cause low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).[22] Weight loss surgery in those with obesity is sometimes an effective measure in those with type 2 diabetes.[23] Gestational diabetes usually resolves after the birth of the baby.[24]
As of 2019, an estimated 463 million people had diabetes worldwide (8.8% of the adult population), with type 2 diabetes making up about 90% of the cases.[11] Rates are similar in women and men.[25] Trends suggest that rates will continue to rise.[11] Diabetes at least doubles a person's risk of early death.[2] In 2019, diabetes resulted in approximately 4.2 million deaths.[11] It is the 7th leading cause of death globally.[26][27] The global economic cost of diabetes-related health expenditure in 2017 was estimated at US$727 billion.[11] In the United States, diabetes cost nearly US$327 billion in 2017.[28] Average medical expenditures among people with diabetes are about 2.3 times higher.[29]

Biochemist Jessie Inchauspe heads into work one morning at a genetics lab in California. During the morning meeting, management offer staff the chance to self-test a new medical device. Jessie accepts.
She couldn’t have known this device would take her on a journey of discovery to reshape her health and help countless others do the same.
The device was a continuous blood sugar monitor, and it was this, combined with her academic background, and a remarkable willingness to use herself as a lab rat, that began a journey of discovery into how blood sugar affects our health.
In today’s episode, Jonathan is joined by two leading experts on the topic:
Jessie Inchauspe is a biochemist, bestselling author, and founder of the Glucose Goddess movement who’s helped hundreds of thousands of people improve their health by making cutting-edge science accessible.
Dr. Sarah Berry is one of the world's leading experts on human nutrition, who has personally run over 20 randomized clinical trials looking at how humans respond to different fats.

Let's talk about the best way to get rid of hypoglycemia naturally. Hypoglycemia is a condition where you have low blood sugar (below 70 mg/dl).
Common symptoms of hypoglycemia:
• Shakiness
• Irritability
• Anxiety
• Hunger
• Sweating
• Headaches
• Inability to concentrate
• Blurred vision
A person with hypoglycemia has insulin resistance. Chronic consumption of refined carbohydrates and frequent eating trigger spikes in insulin, which causes insulin resistance.
It's rare to have low blood sugar when experiencing hypoglycemic symptoms. With hypoglycemia, you may have normal blood sugar levels, but you also have high insulin.
Glucose absorption in the cells is also dependent on insulin. The more insulin resistance you have, the less glucose you'll have in the cells. This is why you might have normal amounts of glucose in the blood but low amounts of glucose in the cells. This type of hypoglycemia is called hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia.
The worst thing you can do for hypoglycemia is to consume frequent small meals or sugar. The best way to get rid of hypoglycemia is to run your body on fat (fatty acids and ketones) instead of sugar for fuel.
Switching the body's fuel source only takes a few days, and you don't need insulin to be involved in the process. Switching the body to fat fuel may also help with many other conditions associated with insulin resistance.
Fat fuel is much more efficient than sugar for energy, taking massive stress off the mitochondria. The majority of non-infectious diseases may be related to damaged mitochondria. Other organs like the thyroid, liver, heart, and brain can also function better on fat fuel.
There is only one thing you need to do to switch to fat fuel and get rid of hypoglycemia: lower your carbohydrates below 50 grams per day.

If it is 100 to 125 that is called as pre-diabetics and above 126 you are having diabetics, similarly if you look at the postprandial that means after 2 hours of the meal if you give a blood sample and if the blood sugar value is less than 140 it is totally normal, and if it is more than 200 you can say that person has diabetes.
