The Black and Tan Coonhound is a breed of dog used primarily for trailing and treeing raccoons. It was developed from crosses between the Bloodhound and the Black and Tan Virginia Foxhound. The Black and Tan Coonhound runs its game entirely by scent.

Size
According to the FCI breed standard Black and Tan Coonhound males should be 25–27 inches (64–69cm) in height with females slightly smaller at 23–25 inches (58–64cm) although it does not specify a weight range. The United Kennel Club does however include guideline weights of males 50–75 pounds (23–34kg) with females ranging from 40–65 pounds (18–29kg). The height proportions quoted by the UKC differ from the FCI and allow males to be 23–27 inches (58–69cm) and females 21–26 inches (53–66cm). The coat is short, dense and glossy.
Eyes
The eyes are hazel to brown, the ears are extremely long, wide, and thin, are set low and far back on the dog's head, and hang well down the neck. The black and tan markings are similar to the Doberman's and the Rottweiler's. The Black and Tan Coonhound's bark is loud and baying; it has been described as a deep howl. The breed standard includes muscular legs that are long in proportion to body length. The tail is set slightly below the natural line of the back. If the dog is alert or excited it carries its tail at a right angle. Males are usually larger and heavier than females.
Black and Tan is a beer cocktail made by blending a pale beer (usually pale ale) with a dark beer (usually stout).
History
The term likely originated in England, where consumers have blended different beers since at least the seventeenth century. The name "black and tan" had earlier been used to describe the coats of dogs, such as the black and tan coon-hound. The earliest recorded usage of the term in the drink context is from 1881, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, in the American magazine Puck. The first recorded British use of the term to describe a drink is from 1889.
Preparation
The "layering" of Guinness on top of the pale ale or lager is possible because of the lower relative density of the Guinness. The opposite scenario (where the layer on top is heavier than bottom) would produce the fluid mechanics phenomenon known as the Rayleigh-Taylor Instability.
To prepare a Black and Tan, fill a glass halfway with pale ale then add the stout. The top layer is best poured slowly over an upside-down tablespoon placed over the glass to avoid splashing and mixing the layers. A specially designed black-and-tan spoon is bent in the middle so that it can balance on the edge of the pint-glass for easier pouring. Alternatively, the stout can be poured first so that the drinks are thoroughly mixed together.

Black and Tan
The company raised controversy in 2006 after releasing a flavor of ice cream called "Black and Tan." It had named the flavor after the alcoholic drink made by mixing stout with pale ale. Criticism stemmed from the fact that Black and Tans was also a name given to the irregular force of British ex-servicemen recruited during the Irish War of Independence and renowned for their brutality. The flavor itself was a cream stout ice cream swirled with chocolate ice cream.
Chubby Hubby
Chubby Hubby consists of vanilla malt ice cream swirled with fudge and peanut butter, and containing pretzel nuggets covered in fudge and filled with peanut butter. For the month of September 2009, Ben and Jerry's, in partnership with Freedom to Marry, renamed Chubby Hubby to Hubby Hubby, in celebration of the legalization of same-sex marriage in the company's home state of Vermont. The carton featured the image of two men getting married beneath a rainbow. In April 2013 Chubby Hubby changed its formula. They changed the fudge covered peanut butter filled pretzels to a chocolate covered pretzel.
