Lyrics:
Open your heart
Every time you close your eyes
I can see the light that you're hiding
Like a shadow in the sky
Of an eagle's wing when it's gliding
Don't be afraid, I'm not gonna run away
Don't let it wait, until it's too late
For what you have to say
Open your heart, show me the pain
It's all part of who you are
Tell me your dreams, your hopes and your fears
Just open your beating heart to me
Everything you share with me
Turns a little darkness into light
And that is how we're meant to be
Truth will keep the light shining brighter
Open your heart, show me the pain
It's all part of who you are
Tell me your dreams, your hopes and your fears
Just open your heart to me
Reach out, I'm right by your side
Exactly where I want to be
The sum of you and me is we, yeah
Open your heart, show me the pain
Show me who you are
Tell me your dreams, your hopes and your fears
Just open your heart to me
Open your heart, show me the pain
It's all part of who you are
Tell me your dreams, your hopes and your fears

2003 offered a nice variety of songs of different genre and terrific acts like Botnleðja to have something to talk about after the contest. But first of all it should always be a priority to send our best singers at any given time, and Birgitta delivered her task very well on stage in Riga.
Birgitta Haukdal was one of the most popular female pop vocalists in Iceland in 2003 and voted Pop Star of the Year and Performer of the Year. She turned her back to the spotlight after 2005 when the band Írafár stepped down from the stage after hugely successful years with Birgitta as lead singer since 1999. The annual Eurovision Live Concert 2013 took place again in Setubal, Portugal as a three day event (05 - 07 September 2013) organised by OGAE Portugal and the Municipality of Setubal with the participation of many national and international artists of which some have been taking part in the national selection to the Eurovision Song Contest called Festival de Cancao and also some artists that have been on the Eurovision stage either for Portugal or another country.
Artists such as Ana Sofia Varela (FC 1995), Anabela (Portugal 1993), Ana Laíns (FC 2001), Carla Pires (FC 2011), Filipa Sousa (Portugal 2012), Liana (FC 2000), Piedade Fernandes (FC 1993), Vlad Mirita (Romania 2008), Roberto Bellarosa (Belgium 2013), Jalisse (Italy 1997), Buket Bengisu (Turkey 2002), Birgitta Haukdal (Iceland 2003), Moran Mazor (Israel 2013), Chen Aharoni (NF Israel 2011), etc just to mention a few.
The Team of Radio International was present and conducted interviews with some of the artists invited. In this clip see an interview with Birgitta Haukdal who represented Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003, in fact, opening up the contest with "Open your heart" reaching Number 8 in Riga, Latvia.
For most of her life she has lived in the northern part of Iceland. In November 1999, Birgitta replaced the then lead vocalist of the pop group Írafár. They released their first single "Hvar er ég?" ("Where am I?") in the summer of 2000, followed by two more singles in 2001. The band signed a recording contract with Iceland's biggest record company, Skífan in 2002, releasing their first album "Allt sem ég sé" ("All I see") in early November. It is Iceland's fastest selling pop album of the last 25 years, reaching platinum - which is not common in Iceland.
As of 2003, Birgitta Haukdal is one of the most popular female pop vocalists in Iceland. She has been voted Pop Star of the Year and Performer of the Year. In 2003, she won the national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 with her song "Segðu mér allt". At the contest, she sang the English–language version of the song, "Open Your Heart", placing eighth with 81 points.
Every time you close your eyes, I can see the light that you’re hiding. Like a shadow in the sky, Of an eagle’s wing when it’s gliding. Don’t be afraid; I’m not gonna run away, Don’t let it wait, until it’s too late, For what you have to say. Open your heart, Show me the pain, It’s all part of who you are. Tell me your dreams, Your hopes and your fears, Just open your beating heart to me. Everything you share with me, Turns a little darkness into light. And that is how we’re meant to be, Truth will keep the light shining brighter. Open your heart, Show me the pain, It’s all part of who you are. Tell me your dreams, Your hopes and your fears, Just open your heart to me. Reach out, I’m right by your side, Exactly where I want to be. The sum, of you and me, is we. Open your heart, Show me the pain, show me who you are. Tell me your dreams, Your hopes and your fears, Just open your heart to me. Open your heart, Show me the pain, It’s all part of who you are. Tell me your dreams, Your hopes and your fears. Let go and just show me who you are, Hey your heart. Let go and just show me who you are.
