Fleischer Studios, Inc., was an American corporation which originated as an animation studio located at 1600 Broadway, New York City, New York. It was founded in 1921 as Inkwell Studios (or Out of the Inkwell Films) by brothers Max Fleischer and Dave Fleischer who ran the company from its inception until Paramount Pictures, the studio's parent company and the distributor of its films, forced them to resign in April 1942. In its prime, it was Walt Disney Productions's very first significant competitor and is notable for bringing to the screen cartoons featuring Koko the Clown, Betty Boop, Bimbo, Popeye the Sailor, and Superman. Unlike other studios, whose most famous characters were anthropomorphic animals, the Fleischers' most popular characters were humans.
Silent films
The company had its start when Max Fleischer invented the rotoscope, which allowed for extremely lifelike animation. Using this device, the Fleischer brothers got a contract with Bray Studio in 1919 to produce their own series called Out of the Inkwell, which featured their first characters, the as yet unnamed Koko the Clown, and Fitz the Dog, who would evolve into Bimbo in 1930. Out of the Inkwell became a very successful series. As the Bray theatrical operation started to diminish, the brothers began their own studio in 1921. Dave served as the director and supervised the studio's production, while Max served as the producer. The company was known as Out of the Inkwell Films, Incorporated, and later became Fleischer Studios in January 1929.
Bimbo is walking down the street when he suddenly disappears down an open manhole. He lands in an underground clubhouse of a secret society. The leader asks Bimbo if he'd like to be a member, but Bimbo refuses and is sent through a series of dangerous events. He is repeatedly asked by the leader to join their society, but keeps refusing. Bimbo is brought through a series of mysterious doors that lead him into yet another sub-basement. Bimbo flees through various death traps before landing in front of the mysterious order's leader again. Bimbo still refuses to become a member, but finally accepts the invitation when the leader reveals to be the real Betty Boop and the rest of the society members remove their costumes, showing that they are all Betty clones and Bimbo dances with all the Betties to celebrate.
Bimbo is a derogatory slang term for an attractive but unintelligent female. The term was originally used in the United States as early as 1919 for an unintelligent or brutish male.
As of early 21st century, the "stereotypical bimbo" appearance has become that of an attractive woman, often blonde and with a curvaceous figure and large breasts, possibly wearing heavy makeup and revealing clothing. However, none of these traits are strictly needed for a person to be considered a bimbo. It is sometimes associated with men or women who dye their hair blonde indicating that physical attractiveness is more important to them than other, non-physical traits and as an extension to the "dumb blonde" stereotype.
History
The word bimbo derives itself from the Italianbimbo, derived from bambino, a masculine-gender term that means "(male) baby" or "young (male) child" (the feminine form of the Italian word is bimba). Use of this term began in the United States as early as 1919, and was a slang word used to describe an unintelligent or brutish man.
Bimbo was a popular song written in either 1948 or 1949 by Glenn O'Dell, but credited to Rodney (Rod) Morris or "Pee Wee" King. The song was recorded by Gene Autry and originally released as a 78rpm single in 1954. It can also be found on the 1998 album, Always Your Pal, Gene Autry. This is an album of singalong cowboy music for children. Former NBA player Vernell "Bimbo" Coles is nicknamed after this song.
Cover versions
It was recorded in 1953 by Jim Reeves on Abbott 148. The song was later included in the 1965 album Up Through the Years on RCA Victor. Reeves' version became his second No. 1 song on the Billboard magazinecountry chart in January 1954, and helped pave the way to his eventual superstardom. Like his previous No. 1 hit "Mexican Joe," "Bimbo" was more of a novelty hit for Reeves; as such, "Bimbo" differed greatly from the smooth, Nashville sound ballads - "Four Walls" and "He'll Have to Go" - that he later recorded and made famous.
A version sung by Suzi Miller was played on the BBCradio station's Children's Favourites show during the 1950s or 1960s.
Bimbo, or formerly Trio Bimbo, is Indonesian religious group vocals.
Early success
In 1967, the group performed for the first time on television program. The group was named Trio Bimbo by Hamid Gruno of TVRI, while the group members, Sam, Acil, and Jaka, considered proper name to be used in the program. The trio performed Consuelo Velazquez's "Besame Mucho" and Elpido Ramirez's "Malaguenna Salerosa" on the program.
In 1969, Trio Bimbo submitted to Remaco several songs written by Iwan Abdurahman, including "Melati dari Jayagiri" ("Jasmine from Jayagiri") and "Flamboyan" ("Flamboyant"). One year later, Trio Bimbo released debut album recorded by Polydor, a label from Singapore. The album consists Iwan Abdurahman and Tonny Koeswoyo namely "Pinang Muda", "Melati dari Jayagiri", "Berpisah", "Flamboyan", "Manis dan Sayang", and "Pengembara". The album also consists international hits such as "Light My Fire" by The Doors, "Once There Was A Love" by Jose Feliciano, "Cecilia, El Condor Pasa" by Simon & Garfunkel, and Jimmy Webb's "I Have Dreamed" and "Wichita Lineman". In this album Trio Bimbo was helped by Maryono, saxophonist from Surabaya. In Indonesia, the album was distributed by Remaco.

Invented by Max Fleischer of Fleischer Studios (and echoed and practiced by many others), it involves taking filmed footage and using it as a traceable model for animation. The results are fluid and natural in a way animation had never been before.
As the above video shows, it started with Max’s brother Dave dancing on a roof in a clown costume. Footage of that was then used to model the classic Koko the Clown cartoons, which formed the basis for many Fleischer Studios films. Today, animators still use techniques like rotoscoping to turn real movement into animation.

Mysterious Mose : December 26, 1930 (Fleischer Studios)
Mysterious Mose is a 1930 Fleischer Studios Talkartoon animated short released through Paramount Pictures. It was released in late December the same year. This film contains an early version of Betty Boop and the studio's star, Bimbo.
Mysterious Mose was a song from early 1930, first performed by Walter Doyle and his Orchestra. There are numerous recordings of the song, including Cliff Perrine and his Orchestra. It was written by Walter Doyle and recorded for Columbia in April 1930 by Rube Bloom and His Bayou Boys.
Betty is startled awake in her bed on a stormy night. She searches for the cause of the shock while she sings the song. Then, unexplainable phenomena start happening in the house. Mysterious Mose (Bimbo) appears, and sings part of the song. Bizarre cartoon creatures appear and, at first, sing and enhance Mose's "mysterious" image. Quickly, however, the antics become frightful even to Mose. The film escalates into chaos, which ends when Mose bursts, revealing him having been an automaton (full of cogs and springs) the whole time. (Wikipedia)

One breakthrough made animation look natural. And it involved a clown dancing on a roof.
In this episode of Vox Almanac, Vox’s Phil Edwards explores the beginning of rotoscoping, a technique animators can use to create realistic motion.

(Wikipedia)
Trouble starts when the queen's magic mirror says Betty Boop is fairest. Cab Calloway sings "St. James Infirmary Blues."

BRANDING HERSELF as the 'professional bimbo', Alicia Amira claims that she loves being the ultimate trophy wife for her man. To achieve the perfect 'plastic fantastic, overly enhanced' look, Alicia has spent over £100,000 on plastic surgery with regular top-ups and maintenance that cost up to £3,000 every month. To Alicia, being a bimbo is a lifetime commitment. "I've sacrificed a normal life," she said. "I'm just a bimbo 100 percent of the time. It's who I am." Alicia, who calls herself an 'ex-feminist', disagrees that women and men should be equal. "I don't agree that we should be completely equal," Alicia added. "I believe that a woman's role is to please her man and just be the best trophy wife for him."
