Bill & Ted is a series of two films (and their spin-offs) featuring William "Bill" S. Preston Esq. (Alex Winter) and "Ted" Theodore Logan (Keanu Reeves) as two metalheadslackers who travel through time. The first Bill & Ted film, Excellent Adventure, was released on February 17, 1989, followed two years later by Bogus Journey. A third film has been in the works since 2010, but there is no current release date.
In 1990, a spin-off animated television series Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures was produced with Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves reprising their roles. A second season featuring none of the original cast was made in 1991 followed by a short-lived live-action television series in 1992. The characters have also featured in other media including several video games and a comic book. Since Orion Pictures is defunct, MGM now owns the rights to Bill & Ted.

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989)
Excellent Adventure introduces Bill Preston and Ted Logan who are trying to write a history report, and encounter a traveler from the future who gives them access to a time machine (shaped like a telephone booth) which allows them to travel back in time and where they meet historical figures and learn about key historical events. If Bill and Ted fail to pass, their teacher will have to flunk them and Ted's father will transfer him to an Alaskan military academy. In this movie, it is also revealed that Bill and Ted are in a band called Wyld Stallyns.
The music of Bill and Ted's band, Wyld Stallyns, has created a utopian future society. Chuck De Nomolos, who detests this society, steals one of the time-traveling phone booths and sends two robots modeled after Bill and Ted back to the late 20th century to prevent Bill and Ted from winning the San Dimas Battle of the Bands. Rufus attempts to stop De Nomolos but becomes lost in the circuits of time.
In the present, five years after Bill and Ted first traveled through time, Wyld Stallyns is preparing for the contest. Though Bill and Ted's current fiancées and former 15th-century princesses Elizabeth and Joanna have become skilled musicians, Bill and Ted are still inept. Despite this, the organizer Ms. Wardroe assures them a slot in the contest as the final act. Bill's stepmother, Missy, divorces his father in favor of Ted's, who threatens Ted with military school should they fail the Battle of the Bands. Evil Bill and Evil Ted arrive and the robots eventually replace Bill and Ted, killing them by throwing the two over the side of a cliff at Vasquez Rocks. The robots behave rudely to the princesses and work to ruin the duo's fame.

The 59-year-old – dubbed the internet’s husband – made his film debut in the 80s and has rarely been out of the limelight since, thanks to roles in Bill & Ted’s ExcellentAdventure, Speed and the Matrix franchise.
Yet while I love the whole trilogy, Bill and Ted's ExcellentAdventure is still the best movie in the franchise, though it had been quite some time since I had actually seen it.
