Bethany is an alternative rock band formed during 2008 in Cebu, Philippines by brothers Luis Quibranza III, Angelo Quibranza, and Paolo Quibranza. In 2009, longtime friend and musician Jan Osbert Dela Cerna completed the line up. Dela Cerna had to attend to personal matters and is now based in Australia, leaving the bassist spot vacant. Kevin Borromeo assumed bass playing duties in 2013.
The band is primarily known for their melodic songwriting, intricate guitar hooks, and electric live performances.
History
Coming from a lineage of musicians and music enthusiasts (their father, was a grand singingchampion for a nationwide-held contest), the brothers primarily decided to form a group back in 2007. The plan was to record a few original songs from their place, and hand them out in CDs as Christmas gifts for their friends and families. They referred to themselves then as Maero, a word taken from a fake version of the popular Nintendo video game character Super Mario, that the boys apparently got hold of.
Bethany was founded July 28, 1909 as a community where members of the Church of the Nazarene could express their religious beliefs without interference by non-members. The town was named after the biblical place of Bethany. The community quickly established the Oklahoma Holiness College (now Southern Nazarene University, SNU). two other institutions were soon established, the Oklahoma Orphanage (now the Children's Center, a medical facility) operated by Mattie Mallory, and the Nazarene Rescue Home for unwed mothers.
Bethany (Aramaic: בית עניא, Beth anya, or בית היני / ביתייניGreek:Βηθανία Greek pronunciation:[vi.θa.ˈɲa], Arabic:العيزرية Arabic pronunciation:[ʔæl.ʕæj.zɑ.ri.jæ]) is recorded in the New Testament as the home of the siblings Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, as well as that of Simon the Leper. Jesus is reported to have lodged there after his entry into Jerusalem, and it could be from Bethany that he parted from his disciples at the Ascension.
Location
Bethany has traditionally been identified with the present-day West Bank city of al-Eizariya (Arabic (العيزرية), meaning "Place of Lazarus"), site of the reputed Tomb of Lazarus, located about 1.5 miles (2.4km) to the east of Jerusalem on the south-eastern slope of the Mount of Olives. The oldest house in present-day al-Eizariya, a 2,000-year-old dwelling reputed to have been (or which at least serves as a reminder of) the House of Martha and Mary, is also a popular pilgrimage site.
The tomb in al-Eizariya has been identified as the tomb of the gospel account since at least the 4th century AD. Both the historian Eusebius of Caesarea (c. 330) and the Bordeauxpilgrim in the Itinerarium Burdigalense (c. 333) mention the Tomb of Lazarus in this location.
The name has been well-used in English-speaking countries. It was the 59th most popular name for girls in England and Wales in 2010, having ranked as high as 11th most popular name in those countries in 1999. It was the 79th most popular name for girls in Scotland in 2010. It ranked in the 100 most popular names for girls in the United States during the 1980s, reaching its pinnacle of popularity in 1987, when it was the 87th most popular name for girls, but its use has declined, falling to 369th most popular name there in 2010. The name Bethany is the English transliteration of the Greek name Bethania.
+/-, or Plus/Minus, is an Americanindietronic band formed in 2001. The band makes use of both electronic and traditional instruments, and has sought to use electronics to recreate traditional indie rock song forms and instrumental structures. The group has released two albums on each of the American indie labels Teenbeat Records and Absolutely Kosher, and their track "All I do" was prominently featured in the soundtrack for the major film Wicker Park. The group has developed a devoted following in Japan and Taiwan, and has toured there frequently. Although many artists append bonus tracks onto the end of Japanese album releases to discourage purchasers from buying cheaper US import versions, the overseas versions of +/- albums are usually quite different from the US versions - tracklists can be rearranged, artwork with noticeable changes is used, and tracks from the US version can be replaced as well as augmented by bonus tracks.
!!! is a dance-punk band that formed in Sacramento, California, in 1996 by lead singer Nic Offer. Its name is most commonly pronounced "Chk Chk Chk" ([/tʃk.tʃk.tʃk/]). Members of !!! came from other local bands such as The Yah Mos, Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. They are currently based in New York City, Sacramento, and Portland, Oregon. The band's sixth full-length album, As If, was released in October 2015.
Background and history
!!! is an American band formed in the summer of 1995 by the merger of part of the group Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. After a successful joint tour, these two teams decided to mix the disco-funk with more aggressive sounds and integrate the hardcore singer Nic Offer from the The Yah Mos. The band's name was inspired by the subtitles of the movie The Gods Must Be Crazy, in which the clicking sounds of the Bushmens' Khoisan language were represented as "!". However, as the bandmembers themselves say, !!! is pronounced by repeating thrice any monosyllabic sound. "Chk Chk Chk" is the most common pronunciation, which the URL of their official website and the title of their Myspace page suggest is the preferred pronunciation.

Bethany, Where Jesus Raised Lazarus
A resurrection that foretells a greater resurrection. It happened here at Bethany. This is the place where the Lord wept over the death of his friend, Lazarus, and resurrected him. The place where the entire humanity of Christ emerges, and where he completes the final miracle of his Passion and his death. Father SABINO CHIALA, Community of Bose: "By the ancient Church it was always seen as a foreshadowing of the Resurrection of Jesus, and, in fact, the liturgies of the Eastern Churches recall this Gospel precisely just before entering into the Great Week, that is, into Holy Week. This resurrection unchains a negative reaction on the part of the heads of the people which is precisely what leads to the death of Jesus."In Bethany, today a village almost completely Muslim, stands a Franciscan...

In order to fulfill this "calling" in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, "glide" over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and "see" the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

This resurrection unchains a negative reaction on the part of the heads of the people which is precisely what leads to the death of Jesus."In Bethany, today a village almost completely Muslim, stands a Franciscan basilica built on the ruins of earlier churches, the earliest dating from the fourth century. Next to this church, pilgrims descend to the ruins of what is traditionally venerated as the tomb of Lazarus.Although somewhat isolated and now inexorably surrounded by the Israeli security wall, the village of Bethany, or Al Azarieh (which in Arabic means House of Lazarus), is still able to speak to the heart of the Christian pilgrim who, come so far, feels himself reliving the hospitality and the friendship of those three siblings... Father SABINO CHIALA, Community of Bose: "Bethany for Jesus was also the place in which he was able to find the sentiments of friendship and I think that, once again, Chapter 11 of John gives us an extraordinary passage with regard to this: Jesus, the Son of Man, the Son of God, when he knows that Lazarus is dead begins to weep. Bethany is also the place of the humanity of Jesus. It is the place where Jesus shows his humanity, he who is the Son of God but who also needs the love of man."Jesus brings Lazarus back to life a few days before entering Jerusalem, where he would fulfill the destiny for which he was sent. And on the eastern slope of the Mount of Olives, on the ancient road which lead to Bethany, stands the Franciscan sanctuary of Bethpage, restored into its present form in 1954. Here both the encounter of Jesus with Mary and Martha before the resurrection of Lazarus and the beginning of Jesus' journey and triumphal entrance into Jerusalem are commemorated. And it is precisely from here that, every year, on Palm Sunday, in the wake of a centuries long tradition, the great procession of local Christians and pilgrims, to Jerusalem unfurls... Father SABINO CHIALA, Community of Bose: "All that which happens in the entrance, according to the narrative of the Synoptics, and according to the narrative of the Fourth Gospel, is trying to tell us something about the messianic identity of Jesus. Jesus is the Messiah, Son of David, but he does not come to Jerusalem on warhorses, he does not come to Jerusalem like the ancient kings of Israel. He selects another symbol. He chooses the symbol of a donkey, that is of a humble animal, and this is why it recalls the prophecy of Zachariah. Therefore, in this gesture, he tell us also what type of Messiah he has come to present and what Messiah God meant him to be.
