Come join me on a night drive down Bellaire Blvd. in Houston, Texas. We will go up and down Bellaire and into the parking lots to get a closer view of the businesses that are on the street.
It's pretty late in the evening, but many of the popular restaurants and cafes are still open, or just closing. Young people are meeting up for a socially-distanced boba tea in the parking lots, or on patios outside of cafes.
Families have finished grocery shopping and running errands, but a few are still enjoying some delicious pho. This drive will feature a lot of bright signs and shopping centers.

A TASTE OF LITTLE SAIGON, HOUSTON, TEXAS (BELLAIRE BOULEVARD USA) VIETNAMESE FOOD TOUR IN AMERICA!
1 day in Houston's Little Saigon. A section of Bellaire Boulevard with lots of Vietnamese influence. Houston is the most diverse city in the USA and has the third largest Vietnamese population in America. Little Saigon is home to many delicious Vietnamese restaurants, Vietnamese grocery stores, and a gorgeous temple! We had so much fun exploring them all! We started the day at Don Cafe ordering the summer roll (with pig skin), banh mi tht nuong (smoked pork sandwich), and the banh mi Dat biet (special smoked pork sandwich). We highly recommend all of that! It was delicious, and fun to be in an area with enough of a Vietnamese influence that there were many dishes served there we had never seen before! We continued to explore, heading to the Teo Chew temple to relax and take in its beauty!...

Families have finished grocery shopping and running errands, but a few are still enjoying some delicious pho. This drive will feature a lot of bright signs and shopping centers.
Bellaire Boulevard is part of a neighborhood in Houston, Texas frequently referred to as Chinatown, New Chinatown or Bellaire Chinatown. Bellaire is a road that runs east/west through the southwest side of Houston, Texas. Bellaire is packed with restaurants, cafes, bakeries and small shops, many of them family owned. It is also where many international companies that are primarily based out of Asia have their Houston locations.
Bellaire Boulevard is an economic powerhouse with many businesses and banks. East West Bank, Cathay Bank, Golden Bank, Chase, and Wells Fargo all have locations on this stretch of Bellaire. There are also many professional services such as doctors, lawyers, financial advisors and insurance agents with their offices on Bellaire.
New Chinatown is in reference to the fact that a previously existing neighborhood on the east side of Houston was also called Chinatown. New Chinatown is quite the misnomer, because the area has been developed since the 1980's and it also is home to many ethnic communities. The street signs in this area are listed in English and Chinese.
In recent years people have started to refer to Chinatown as Asiatown in an effort to more accurately describe the diversity of the Houston neighborhood.
We will start our drive further west on Bellaire Boulvevard, in an area often referred to as Little Saigon, in reference to the large Vietnamese community in the area. If you look closely you will be able to see that street signs are listed not just in English, but also in Vietnamese. This stretch of Bellaire is officially recognized as Saigon by the City of Houston.
It is difficult to see in the dark, but we will drive past a large Vietnam War Memorial that is located --- in a parking lot.
We will also pass Saigon Houston Plaza which features many different popular restaurants such as Kim Son and is the home of Radio Saigon Houston. One popular type of restaurant in Houston is Vietnamese - Louisiana style crawfish.
On the south side of Bellaire we will go through the parking lot for Hong Kong City Mall, also called HK4. https://www.hkcitymall.com This mall has a large grocery store called Hong Kong Food Market, lots of restaurants in the food court, and a lot of different shops and professional services. As we drive around the outside of the mall you will be able to see some of the signage for stores in the mall, as well as some nicer sit-down restaurants located at the ends of the mall. The parking lot has lots of interesting decorative items such as the paifang arches and water features.

I get a lot of questions about the cameras I use. Here are my main cameras:
• [GoPro Hero 11](https://amzn.to/3q8Fpzw)

We continued to explore, heading to the Teo Chew temple to relax and take in its beauty! The architecture was stunning, I truly felt like we had traveled across the world because you rarely see such beautiful architecture in the USA. Next we head to Long Coffee Shop for a wake me up with some delicious cafe su da (Vietnamese iced coffee), wow was it good!!! Wide awake, we head to the Hong Kong mall, which despite the name, has several Vietnamese shops including Alpha Bakery where we tried some Vietnamese desserts! A fried banana, red bean sesame balls, black bean and rice che, and taro che with a DELICIOUS coconut cream on top. Now as we make a little room for dinner, we walk around the Vietnamese war memorial that is just outside of our dinner spot. Crawfish and Noodles from James Bear award finalist Trong Nguyen! The food is Viet-Cajun, a Vietnamese and Cajun fusion. I grew up eating Cajun food, and having a large crawfish boil annually, so trying this twist on a dish I have eaten my whole life was mind-blowing!!! The food was INCREDIBLE, and Ivan even got to meet the chef (when I was in the bathroom and the camera wasn't rolling, so sorry you and I both missed that one). If you've missed hanging out in this area, we HIGHLY recommend you explore Little Saigon, it was a BLAST!
