Bayou Cane, Louisiana
Bayou Cane is a census-designated place (CDP) in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is located just north of Houma and had a population of 17,046 at the 2000 census.
Bayou Cane is a principal city of the Houma–Bayou Cane–Thibodaux Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes.
Geography
Bayou Cane is located at 29°37′35″N 90°44′54″W / 29.62639°N 90.74833°W / 29.62639; -90.74833 (29.626285, -90.748396).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.6 square miles (20 km2), all land.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 17,046 people, 6,222 households, and 4,535 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,231.4 people per square mile (861.5/km²). There were 6,609 housing units at an average density of 865.1 per square mile (334.0/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 85.68% White, 9.81% African American, 1.95% Native American, 0.70% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.49% from other races, and 1.35% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.35% of the population.

Louisiana
Louisiana (
i/luːˌiːziˈænə/ or i/ˌluːziˈænə/; French: État de Louisiane, [lwizjan]; Louisiana Creole: Léta de la Lwizyàn) is a state located in the southern region of the United States. Louisiana is the 31st most extensive and the 25th most populous of the 50 United States. Its capital is Baton Rouge and largest city is New Orleans. Louisiana is the only state in the U.S. with political subdivisions termed parishes, which are the local government's equivalent to counties. The largest parish by population is East Baton Rouge Parish, and the largest by land area is Plaquemines. Louisiana is bordered by Arkansas to the north, Mississippi to the east, Texas to the west, and the Gulf of Mexico to the south.
Much of the state's lands were formed from sediment washed down the Mississippi River, leaving enormous deltas and vast areas of coastal marsh and swamp. These contain a rich southern biota; typical examples include birds such as ibis and egrets. There are also many species of tree frogs, and fish such as sturgeon and paddlefish. In more elevated areas, fire is a natural process in the landscape, and has produced extensive areas of longleaf pine forest and wet savannas. These support an exceptionally large number of plant species, including many species of orchids and carnivorous plants.

Louisiana (shipwreck)
The Louisiana was a steamboat that sank in Lake Michigan off the coast of Washington, Door County, Wisconsin, United States, during the Great Lakes Storm of 1913. In 1992 the shipwreck site was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
History
The Louisiana was constructed in Marine City, Michigan in 1887, while her engine was built at the Dry Dock Complex in Detroit, Michigan.
On November 2, 1913, the Louisiana departed from Lorain, Ohio to deliver a load of coal to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After completing her stop in Milwaukee, the Louisiana made way for Escanaba, Michigan to pick up a load of iron ore. In the early morning hours of November 8, the ship passed through Porte des Morts. Upon reaching the strait, she was greeted by a severe snowstorm. The captain attempted to take refuge at Washington Island in Door County, Wisconsin, but the heavy seas and howling wind proved too strong for the ship's anchors to hold her in place, and she was run aground.
Despite the situation on board the Louisiana, the crew opted to remain aboard the vessel rather than taking the one small lifeboat they had out to the raging seas. However, a fire broke out in the cargo hold later in the morning and the crew members were left with no choice. A rescue ship had been deployed from Plum Island, but the breaking waves were too powerful for the ship to be able to reach the crew. In the end, the crew was able to make it to shore.

Louisiana, Missouri
Louisiana is a city in Pike County, Missouri, United States. The population was 3,300 at the 2010 census. Louisiana is located in northeast Missouri, on the Mississippi River south of Hannibal.
Louisiana is at the junction of State Route 79 and US 54. The former follows the Mississippi River for most of its length from Hannibal to St. Charles County. The latter enters Louisiana from Illinois via the Champ Clark Bridge, named for a former US Speaker of the House from nearby Bowling Green.
History
The town was founded in 1817 by John Walter Basye and named after his daughter, Louisiana Basye. Other notable early residents were Samuel Caldwell and Joel Shaw, both of whom purchased land from Bayse in 1818. All three properties became the original town plat and comprised mainly riverfront properties. Many of the towns residents trace their ancestry to these town pioneers. Louisiana proved to be a profitable shipping point on the Mississippi River, and that wealth led to numerous substantial antebellum homes. Many of those still remain and, along with the Georgia Street Historic District in downtown Louisiana, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has noted that the town has "the most intact Victorian Streetscape in the state of Missouri."

Steps -
Soak dried beans overnight or use drained canned beans.
Chop onions, celery, bell peppers, and andouille sausage.
In a medium-high pan, cook the sausage for 4-5 minutes or until seared and browned.
Remove the seared sausage from the pan and sauté onions and garlic in the same pan until fragrant with butter. Add the bell peppers and celery, and cook until they soften.
Add flour and cook until the flour is gone. Season and mix until well combined. Reintroduce the andouille sausage and add chicken broth with bay leaves.
Bring the pan to a boil, then add the beans and, if desired, smoked turkey. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 2 hours and 10 minutes, or until the beans and turkey are tender and the liquid thickens into a rich sauce. If the mixture becomes too thick, add more water or broth. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. Garnish with parsley and green onions, and serve with rice for a complete meal!
Tip - For a creamier texture, mash some of the beans against the side of the pot using the back of a spoon.

Critics vowed to challenge the law in court, calling it unconstitutional and warning that it will lead to religious coercion of students.
“The First Amendment promises that we all get to decide for ourselves what religious beliefs, if any, to hold and practice, without pressure from the government,” the Louisiana chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, the Freedom From Religion Foundation and other groups said in a joint statement Wednesday. “Politicians have no business imposing their preferred religious doctrine on students and families in public schools.”
The law requires a context statement to accompany the commandments, positioning the text as “a prominent part of American public education” from the late 17th century through the late 20th century. Schools have to use donated posters or spend donated money, rather than public funds, to purchase the displays.

Description: A general description of the physical features of the dive site The deteriorating stern of the wreck is at a depth of 25 metres at the base of the north east side of Hunter’s Rock on a sandy/pebble seabed. The bow of the wreck is located approximately 80 metres south east of the stern on the other side of Hunters Rock (see State of Louisiana Bow Section page). Both parts of the wreck can be explored in one dive but given the short tidal window, it is recommended to split this into two separate dives to allow more time on each part of the wreck. However the stern end is a better dive with more to see. The bow is very small and once you have seen it you can return to midships for ascent. #scubadiving #irishshipwreck #wreckdiving #shipwrecks

A general description of the physical features of the dive site
The deteriorating stern of the wreck is at a depth of 25 metres at the base of the north east side of Hunter’s Rock on a sandy/pebble seabed. The bow of the wreck is located approximately 80 metres south east of the stern on the other side of Hunters Rock (see State of Louisiana Bow Section page). Both parts of the wreck can be explored in one dive but given the short tidal window, it is recommended to split this into two separate dives to allow more time on each part of the wreck. However the stern end is a better dive with more to see. The bow is very small and once you have seen it you can return to midships for ascent.

After thousands of views, they received a call from Eric and Melanie Dahl, the parents of the little boy who wrote the letter. Their son and author of the note, Brian, passed away 15 years ago in an accident. Melanie, Eric, and one of their sons, Chris, traveled from Mississippi to Louisiana to meet Brad’s team and share the living memories of Brian.

2 cups long-grain white rice (Like Basmati)
4 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter (optional)

Steps -
Soak dried beans overnight or use drained canned beans.
Chop onions, celery, bell peppers, and andouille sausage.
In a medium-high pan, cook the sausage for 4-5 minutes or until seared and browned.
Remove the seared sausage from the pan and sauté onions and garlic in the same pan until fragrant with butter. Add the bell peppers and celery, and cook until they soften.
Add flour and cook until the flour is gone. Season and mix until well combined. Reintroduce the andouille sausage and add chicken broth with bay leaves.
Bring the pan to a boil, then add the beans and, if desired, smoked turkey. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 2 hours and 10 minutes, or until the beans and turkey are tender and the liquid thickens into a rich sauce. If the mixture becomes too thick, add more water or broth. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. Garnish with parsley and green onions, and serve with rice for a complete meal!
Tip - For a creamier texture, mash some of the beans against the side of the pot using the back of a spoon.

We’ll go over those tidbits, plus a whole lot more! So all yall grab a daiquiri and some crawdaddies, we’re going to unbox the state of Louisiana.
Aww. What’s going on here? Looks like they’re setting up crawfish traps. Yum. That means it must be spring time! Everyone in Louisiana loves springtime. The weather isn’t too muggy, there’s no hurricanes coming yet, and of course, it’s crawfish season.
They love their crawfish here. Just like they love nature and their culture.
But Louisiana is much more than swampy crawfish stew. It’s actually a REALLY super diverse state, with lots of tough folks and there’s some real issues, too. It’s kind of like a foreign country within the United States. In order to really get to know the state of Louisiana, we have to look at the whole state and explore each and every area.
This is Louisiana. Now as you can see there’s a lot of different regions in this state. In fact, this might be the most diverse state when it comes to region by region differences. First off, they don’t use counties here. They’re called parishes. And just about each parish has its own distinct culture, and way of life and even accent. If you moved here, you’d likely be a little overwhelmed with the differences from region to region.
We’re gonna begin up here in Northern Louisiana.

Starting Jan. 1, 2025, all public elementary, secondary and post-education schools in Louisiana must display the Ten Commandments in every classroom.
Critics vowed to challenge the law in court, calling it unconstitutional and warning that it will lead to religious coercion of students.
“The First Amendment promises that we all get to decide for ourselves what religious beliefs, if any, to hold and practice, without pressure from the government,” the Louisiana chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, the Freedom From Religion Foundation and other groups said in a joint statement Wednesday. “Politicians have no business imposing their preferred religious doctrine on students and families in public schools.”
The law requires a context statement to accompany the commandments, positioning the text as “a prominent part of American public education” from the late 17th century through the late 20th century. Schools have to use donated posters or spend donated money, rather than public funds, to purchase the displays.
Bayou Cane, Louisiana
Bayou Cane is a census-designated place (CDP) in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is located just north of Houma and had a population of 17,046 at the 2000 census.
Bayou Cane is a principal city of the Houma–Bayou Cane–Thibodaux Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes.
Geography
Bayou Cane is located at 29°37′35″N 90°44′54″W / 29.62639°N 90.74833°W / 29.62639; -90.74833 (29.626285, -90.748396).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.6 square miles (20 km2), all land.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 17,046 people, 6,222 households, and 4,535 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,231.4 people per square mile (861.5/km²). There were 6,609 housing units at an average density of 865.1 per square mile (334.0/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 85.68% White, 9.81% African American, 1.95% Native American, 0.70% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.49% from other races, and 1.35% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.35% of the population.

Low water levels in the Mississippi River revealed a shipwreck that's believed to be a ferry from the early 20th century near Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The unusually low water level in the lower Mississippi River is causing barges to get stuck in mud and sand, disrupting river travel for shippers, recreational boaters and even passengers on a cruise line.
Lack of rainfall has left the Mississippi River approaching record low levels in some areas from Missouri south through Louisiana. The U.S. Coast Guard said at least eight "groundings" of barges have been reported, despite low-water restrictions on barge loads.
Officials cleared dozens of barges from a river channel near Lake Providence, Louisiana, and dredged it after a groundling occurred, halting river traffic in both directions for days. To keep river traffic flowing, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been dredging the Mississippi at several spots and placed limits on the number of barges each tow can move.

A general description of the physical features of the dive site
The deteriorating stern of the wreck is at a depth of 25 metres at the base of the north east side of Hunter’s Rock on a sandy/pebble seabed. The bow of the wreck is located approximately 80 metres south east of the stern on the other side of Hunters Rock (see State of Louisiana Bow Section page). Both parts of the wreck can be explored in one dive but given the short tidal window, it is recommended to split this into two separate dives to allow more time on each part of the wreck. However the stern end is a better dive with more to see. The bow is very small and once you have seen it you can return to midships for ascent.

A mystery unfolded last spring along the bank of Louisiana’s Yazoo river when a salvage diver from Big River Ship Builders found a green bottle. Inside was a weathered piece of paper with a child’s writing. With few clues about who might have sent it, the company's manager, Brad Babb, was on a mission to find the writer through social media. After thousands of views, they received a call from Eric and Melanie Dahl, the parents of the little boy who wrote the letter. Their son and author of the note, Brian, passed away 15 years ago in an accident. Melanie, Eric, and one of their sons, Chris, traveled from Mississippi to Louisiana to meet Brad’s team and share the living memories of Brian.
