A backpack — also called bookbag, kitbag, knapsack, rucksack, pack, or sackpack — is, in its simplest form, a cloth sack carried on one's back and secured with two straps that go over the shoulders, but there can be variations. Lightweight types of backpacks are sometimes worn on only one shoulder strap.
Backpacks are commonly used by hikers and students, and are often preferred to handbags for carrying heavy loads or carrying any sort of equipment, because of the limited capacity to carry heavy weights for long periods of time in the hands.
Large backpacks, used to carry loads over 10kg (22lbs), as well as smaller sports backpacks (e.g. running, cycling, hiking and hydration), usually offload the largest part (up to about 90%) of their weight onto padded hip belts, leaving the shoulder straps mainly for stabilising the load. This improves the potential to carry heavy loads, as the hips are stronger than the shoulders, and also increases agility and balance, since the load rides nearer the wearer's own center of mass.
Journals is the second compilation album by Canadian recording artist Justin Bieber. The album was only released digitally through online platforms, such as iTunes, on December 23, 2013 by Island Records. A ten-week digital download campaign entitled Music Mondays, in which one new song was released every Monday night, was held from October 7, 2013 to December 9, 2013. In addition to the songs released on "Music Mondays", Journals is also composed of other five previously unreleased songs. The recording sessions took place between 2012 and 2013, while the singer was on his Believe Tour, which generated one or two songs a day throughout the entire tour.
Basecamp, formerly known as 37signals, is a privately held American web application company based in Chicago, Illinois. The firm was co-founded in 1999 by Jason Fried, Carlos Segura, and Ernest Kim as a web design company. Segura left in 2000 and Kim left in 2003, leaving Fried as the only remaining founder.
In February 2014, the company adopted a new strategy, focusing entirely on its flagship product, Basecamp, and renaming the company from 37signals to Basecamp.
Since mid-2004, the company's focus has shifted from web design to web application development. Its first commercial application was Basecamp; this was followed by Backpack, Campfire, and Highrise. It maintained two freeware web applications, Ta-Da List and Writeboard. However, both of these are now closed to new users and similar functionality has been incorporated in their (chargeable) product, Basecamp. The open source web application frameworkRuby on Rails was initially created for internal use at 37signals, before being publicly released in 2004.

My bag is HEAVY. The gear I have in here made the weight of the bag about 15kg and both of the bags mentioned above are not built for that weight. Yes I know that weight doesn’t make it a “carry on” for all airlines. I kind of just take my chances. The @rei Ruckpack is built way better for heavier loads. So if you don’t have that heavy of a pack, the Cotopaxi or Gregory are still awesome options!

How to choose the backpack that is best for you. When it comes to choosing a pack there are a lot of things to consider. Ultralight or traditional pack, framed or frameless, what size? It can get overwhelming. In this video I break down the four main types of backpacks to help you know what kind is right for you.

The switch from going from a backpack that opens suitcase style to one that opens like this wasn’t bad.
One thing I noticed is when this bag is packed full it stays carryon size. Whereas the Gregory and Coropaxi expand to get taller and I’ve had a few situations where I needed to take an item out to get it in the overhead compartment.
My favorite parts of the REI ruckpack:
Comfort
Strong zippers
Zips all the way open
Stow away the straps
Easily organizable
Side pockets
Usable pockets (sometimes I feel like backpacks have pockets in the worst places and the ones on here are all usable and help organize the bag)
Cons:
The one con that I mentioned isn’t a huge deal, I can still access the laptop from the top I just have to take an item or two out. It would just make it ✨that✨ much better if it had the access. I mention this because laptop compartments are a big factor for digital nomads!
Backpack is linked in my story highlight “links” ☺️

Large backpacks, used to carry loads over 10kg (22lbs), as well as smaller sports backpacks (e.g. running, cycling, hiking and hydration), usually offload the largest part (up to about 90%) of their weight onto padded hip belts, leaving the shoulder straps mainly for stabilising the load. This improves the potential to carry heavy loads, as the hips are stronger than the shoulders, and also increases agility and balance, since the load rides nearer the wearer's own center of mass.
