BBC Cymru Wales (an amalgamation of the English: BBC Wales and the Welsh:BBC Cymru) is a division of the BBC, and the national broadcaster for Wales. Established in 1964, BBC Cymru Wales is based in Cardiff and directly employs some 1,200 people to produce a range of programmes for television, radio and online services in both English and Welsh.
BBC Cymru Wales operates two TV channels (BBC One Wales, BBC Two Wales) and two radio stations. Wales raises some £182 million in licence fee resources; however, spend on local content by BBC Wales (including S4C £76 million) is £151 million. BBC Wales spends £31 million on local content.
Services
Television
BBC Cymru Wales operates two television services, BBC One Wales and BBC Two Wales, which can opt out of the network feed of these two channels to broadcast regional programming. These two channels broadcast a variety of programmes in English, including the flagship news programme BBC Wales Today which broadcasts several bulletins throughout the day including the main evening programme.
BBC One Wales is a television channel operated by BBC Cymru Wales. It is the Welsh variation of the UK-wide BBC One. The service is broadcast in Wales from Broadcasting House in Cardiff. BBC One Wales broadcasts around three hours of non-news programmes for Wales each week alongside six hours a week of national news for Wales from Wales Today.
BBC One Wales branding is utilised between 6am and around 1 am each day with live continuity handled by a team of regional announcers who double up as directors for playout and various Wales Today news bulletins. Continuity from the main BBC One network service is carried overnight until the handover to the BBC News Channel.
A high-definition simulcast of BBC One Wales launched on 29 January 2013 on Freeview, Freesat, Sky and Virgin Media. Unlike BBC One HD (which is capable of broadcasting audio content in DTS5.1), controversially, BBC One Wales HD and BBC One Northern Ireland HD, are currently stereo only, and have been since they launched. On 10 December 2013, BBC One Wales HD was swapped with the SD channel on Sky's EPG for HD subscribers.
.wales is one of two country code top level domains for Wales (the other being .cymru) which were put forth by Nominet UK in 2012. Final approval for both top level domains for Wales was granted by ICANN in June 2014.
A phased launch of the new domains was scheduled, with trademark holders being eligible to apply initially. General availability was expected by the spring of 2015. Early adopters of the domains include the Welsh government and male voice choirOnly Men Aloud!.

Rioters in England and Wales could be charged with terrorism offences, prosecutor says | BBC News
The director of public prosecutions in England and Wales says he is "willing" to consider charging some rioters with terrorism offences.
Stephen Parkinson said he is “aware of at least one instance where that is happening”.
Suspects charged so far have faced allegations including violent disorder, which can lead to five years in jail.
Some other suspects who have been arrested are being assessed for the more serious charge of rioting, that can lead to ten years.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to chair an emergency Cobra meeting tonight on efforts to tackle the unrest.
The disorder follows the fatal stabbing of three girls in Southport, with subsequent unrest fuelled by misinformation online, the far right and anti-immigration sentiment.

The first minister of Wales, Vaughan Gething, has announced his resignation, only four months after taking the job.
It comes after three of his Welsh government ministers and his top legal adviser released resignation statements, calling for him to stand down.
Since taking over in March, he has been embroiled in controversy, and has been dogged by questions over a £200,000 campaign donation from a businessman convicted of environmental offences.
In his resignation statement, he denied wrongdoing, adding: "I regret that the burden of proof is no longer an important commodity in the language of our politics."
