Kings is an American television drama series which aired on NBC. The series' narrative is loosely based on the Biblical story of King David, but set in a kingdom that culturally and technologically resembles the present-day United States.
Advance showings received mostly positive critical reviews. The Sunday March 15, 2009 premiere placed fourth in network television ratings for that evening. After four episodes aired, NBC moved it to a Saturday slot, but only showed one more episode before pulling the series until summer. The remaining seven episodes were aired on Saturdays in June and July; however, Kings was canceled after failing to find a sufficient audience.
Plot
Kings is set in the fictional Kingdom of Gilboa, a modern absolute monarchy. Gilboa is ruled by King Silas Benjamin, who originally formed the united kingdom two decades before from the three warring countries of Gilboa, Carmel, and Selah. He believes that he has been divinely anointed king, and he often cites the day when a swarm of Monarch butterflies once landed on his head in the form of "a living crown" which called upon him to form the Monarchy and Kingdom.
A prayer by King Solomon described in 1 Kings 8:22–52. This prayer is said to have occurred at the dedication of the temple of Solomon, which also became known as the First Temple.
It is also a book found in some Latin Bibles as a shorter variant of this prayer at the end of the Book of Sirach. Where it occurs, it is often framed as the last chapter of Sirach or sometimes as a separate book immediately following it.
An army (from Latinarma "arms, weapons" via Old Frencharmée, "armed" (feminine)) or ground force is a fighting force that fights primarily on land. In the broadest sense, it is the land-based military branch, service branch or armed service of a nation or state. It may also include other branches of the military such as the air force via means of aviation corps. Within a national military force, the word army may also mean a field army. They differ from army reserves who are activated only during such times as war or natural disasters.
In several countries, the army is officially called the Land Army to differentiate it from an air force called the Air Army, notably France. In such countries, the word "army" on its own retains its connotation of a land force in common usage. The current largest army in the world, by number of active troops, is the People's Liberation Army of China with 2,250,000 active troops and 800,000 reserve personnel followed by the Indian Army with 1,129,000 active troops and 2,142,900 reserve personnel.
"Army" is a song by English singer and songwriter Ellie Goulding from her third studio album, Delirium (2015). The song was released on 9 January 2016 as the album's second single.
Composition
"Army" is written in the key of B major with a tempo of 87 beats per minute. Goulding's vocals span from B3 to B4. The song was written about Goulding's best friend.
Music video
The music video for "Army" was directed by Conor McDonnell and premiered on 14 January 2016. Shot in black and white, the video features Goulding having fun with friends in several settings, as well as performing the song live.
An army, besides the generalized meanings of ‘a country's armed forces’ or its ‘land forces’, is a type of formation in militaries of various countries, including the Soviet Union. This article serves a central point of reference for Soviet armies without individual articles, and explains some of the differences between Soviet armies and their U.S. and British counterparts.
During the Russian Civil War, most Soviet armies consisted of independent rifle and cavalry divisions, and corps were rare.
During World War II, Soviet armies included the all-arms (общевойсковые), tank (танковые), air (воздушные), and air-defence (противо-воздушной обороны (ПВО)) armies which included a number of corps, divisions, brigades, regiments and battalions belonging largely to the appropriate branch of the armed forces or of the arm of service, such as the rifle corps. In the emergency of June 1941 it was found that inexperienced commanders had difficulty controlling armies with more than two or three subordinate corps, and they several armies were disbanded, to be reformed later in the war. Thus Soviet High Command's (Stavka's) Circular 01, of July 15, 1941, directed several changes to Red Army force structure, including the elimination of rifle corps headquarters and subordination of rifle divisions directly to rifle army headquarters. Following the Second World War, an army was reorganised with four or five divisions, often equivalent to a corps in the militaries of other countries. During a war, an Army of the Soviet military was typically subordinated to a front. In peacetime, an army was usually subordinated to a military district.

Global National: May 6, 2023 | King Charles crowned in lavish ceremony
Editor's note: A line in our story originally read that the last King to have a coronation was King Charles V. The last King's coronation was actually for King George VI.
King Charles III was crowned in a sumptuous, seamless ceremony on Saturday at Westminster Abbey. A fusion of medieval and modern. Queen Camilla was crowned too – in the same Abbey where coronations have taken place since 1066. A diverse range of more than 2,000 guests from celebrities to presidents to volunteers and community workers. Canada’s prime minister was there too while astronaut Jeremy Hansen led the Canadian procession. Dawna Friesen has more.
While it rained pretty much most of the day, it didn’t change anyone’s expectations of the day. Everyone was pretty much out there hoping to make some memories. Crystal ...

Crystal Goomansingh spoke with some of those in the crowds outside where it was a bonding moment for many.
In Alberta, wildfires are continuing to force thousands of people from their homes. More than 24,000 people have had to evacuate across that province while 5,000 more have been told to leave at a moment’s notice. There are more than 100 active wildfires in Alberta right now. Neetu Garcha reports.
Before today’s coronation, King Charles III was both the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history. He held the title of Prince of Wales since 1958 and he inherited the title of Duke of Edinburgh when his father Prince Philip died in 2021. Eric Sorensen looks back at the King’s long road to the throne.
For many Indigenous people in Canada, trying to deepen ties with the Monarchy is complicated given the history of colonialism. But some leaders like Perry Bellegarde believe King Charles III plays a vital role in the progress of reconciliation. The former national chief of the Assembly of First Nations joins Dawna Friesen in London.
It’s now official, Charles is King and his reign begins in earnest. His mother was a hard act to follow and his biggest challenge is remaining relevant at a time when interest in the monarchy, especially with young people, is waning.

Alberta's provincial election campaign is officially underway, with NDP Leader Rachel Notley, who served as premier from 2015 to 2019, trying to regain power from Danielle Smith, who became premier and leader of the United Conservative Party in October 2022.
It is the first provincial election for Alberta since Smith’s predecessor, Jason Kenney, resigned due to a waning show of support at a leadership review. Heather Yourex-West looks at where the battleground races are and the jabs both party leaders are taking at each other.

The year is 872, and many of the separate kingdoms of what we now know as England have fallen to the invading Danes, leaving the great kingdom of Wessex standing alone and defiant under the command of King Alfred.
Against this turbulent backdrop lives our hero, Uhtred. Born the son of a Saxon nobleman, he is captured by the Danes and raised as one of their own. Forced to choose between the country of his birth and the people of his upbringing, his loyalties are ever tested.
What is he? Saxon or Dane?
On a quest to reclaim his birthright, Uhtred must tread a dangerous path between both sides if he is to play his part in the birth of a new nation and, ultimately, recapture his ancestral lands.
Directed by: Nick Murphy, Anthony Byrne, Ben Chanan, Peter Hoar
Written by: Stephen Butchard, based on Bernard Cornwell’s The Saxon Stories
Cast: Alexander Dreymon, David Dawson, Jason Flemyng and Matthew Macfadyen

With the streets controlled by the Italian mob, Bumpy must take on the Genovese crime family to regain control.
