Asteroid that killed the dinosaurs was not alone | BBC News
The huge asteroid that hit Earth and wiped out the dinosaurs 66 million years ago was not alone, scientists have confirmed.
A second, smaller space rock smashed into the sea off the coast of West Africa creating a large crater during the same era.
It would have been a “catastrophic event”, the scientists said, causing a tsunami at least 800m high to tear across the Atlantic ocean.
They cannot date when it happened exactly, or say whether it came before or after the asteroid which left the 180km-wide Chicxulub crater in Mexico - the one that ended the reign of the dinosaurs.

Under the supervision of a doctor of physics, we simulated the moment when various meteorites in the universe fall to the earth scientifically and accurately.
A meteorite equivalent to the Chelyabinsk meteorite fall in Russia, the Tunguska event, and the Chicxulub Impact (famous for the huge crater on the Yucatan Peninsula) that extinguished dinosaurs is also reproduced.

Earth Just Got A Second Moon (Seriously)
This is asteroid 2024 PT5. It normally lives in the asteroid belt, but it approached Earth close enough and slow enough to become temporarily pulled by gravity into Earth’s orbit.
It’s expected to orbit around us for about two months before escaping and traveling towards the sun. Unfortunately, it’s going to be too small for you to see with anything other than professional telescopes. But it won't be the last time we see this asteroid. It’s expected to return to Earth’s orbit in 2055...

Were dinosaurs wiped out by two massive asteroid impacts, not just one? In this deep dive, we explore the mind-blowing discovery of the newly revealed Nadir Crater off the coast of West Africa, which might be linked to the infamous Chicxulub impact. Could these two cosmic events have teamed up to cause the ultimate extinction? With groundbreaking 3D seismic imaging, scientists are uncovering secrets of the past, painting a more complex picture of Earth's history. Join us as we break down the evidence, from mega-tsunamis to global chaos, and consider what this means for our understanding of the dinosaurs’ extinction. Buckle up – it's a journey through time and space!
The huge asteroid that hit Earth and wiped out the dinosaurs 66 million years ago was not alone, scientists have confirmed.
A second, smaller space rock smashed into the sea off the coast of West Africa creating a large crater during the same era.
It would have been a “catastrophic event”, the scientists say, causing a tsunami at least 800m high to tear across the Atlantic ocean.
Dr Uisdean Nicholson from Heriot-Watt University first found the Nadir crater in 2022, but a cloud of uncertainty hung over how it was really formed.
Now Dr Nicholson and his colleagues are sure that the 9km depression was caused by an asteroid hurtling into the seabed.

The asteroid Ceres (940 km in diameter) that adorns the latter shows a destructive power that almost equals the famous (Texas-sized) asteroid from the movie Armageddon.
The video tries to be as realistic and scientifically accurate as possible, except for details such as the speed of the shockwaves in order not to make the video too long.

Classic Game Room reviews ASTEROIDS from Atari released in 1979, the revolutionary arcade game where you shoot space rocks and run away from UFOs! Shoot space rocks with your triangle!! It's the classic Atari arcade machine from 1979 with black and white vector graphics, button controls and gorgeous sci-fi artwork. Asteroids is insanely difficult and extremely fun to challenge yourself or friends to a high score. Enjoy the Jaws inspired music and monochrome glow of the '70s, it's Asteroids!!

[TAS] Asteroids Arcade 100,000 points in 4:26 min
Tool-assisted speed-run (TAS) of Asteroids (Arcade).
See the re-upload with thicker vectors: https://youtu.be/HXeL_N27CMI
Goal of this TAS:
-Reach the maximum of displayable points (99,999) as quickly as possible
Notes:
-It may be possible to be a bit faster if I move the ship near the asteroids, less wait for the bullets to reach something. I will have to try that. (maybe with Asteroids Deluxe)
-You can have 4 bullets active on the screen at the same time
-The TAS tries to always have all these bullets active
-All bullets reach something. No lost bullets (Except for one volley to demonstrate the range of the bullets).

Asteroids - PS1 (1998)
From developer Syrox Developments. The classic arcade game, updated with modern (for the time) graphics and gameplay enhancements. The PS1 was a runaway success from the start, and there was a profitable market in taking classic games and refreshing them for the system with 3D graphics. This was pretty common on the PS1, and if I remember right the remake of Frogger was one of the highest-selling titles on the system period.
This enhanced remake of Asteroids is pretty fun! It's the same classic gameplay, but with snazzy new space backgrounds and some regenerating ice asteroids. The challenge is remarkable, with it being very easy to lose ones place on screen and misspeed into oblivion. Also the wraparound physics really mess with me, I'd need a lot more practice to utilize it well.

Asteroids - Video Games Over Time
Welcome back to Video Games Over Time. We are still in 1979. In this video, we take on yet another space shooter. This one is Atari's attempt at capitalizing on the Space Invaders craze. We will play our first vector-based game in Asteroids, a space shooter that combines aspects of Computer Space and Space Invaders. This game is probably widely known, but often forgotten as an influential and important video game.

Top 10 Worst Reality Shows Of The Century (So Far)

NASA Discovers 10th PLANET is Larger Than PLUTO | Hidden Planet of The Solar System
Our planet Earth is a part of a galaxy that has multiple planets. Including Pluto, we have 9 planets in our solar system. NASA, one of the most renowned space research organizations, has discovered something that shatters our knowledge. It confirmed that we have a tenth planet, Planet X, in our solar system which is larger than Pluto. Watch this video to know more about the tenth planet in our solar system.

JS Asteroids Automation Part 2 (Neural Network)
In the second part of this JavaScript Asteroids Automation tutorial series, we set up our neural network! We write a “feedForward” function to send in data through the input layer, where it works its way through the hidden layer, and then finally pops out the other side from the output layer! We also write a “train” function to teach our network to handle the input data correctly by adjusting the weights incrementally. We add bias neurons to each layer, which are special nodes that are always set to “on” in order to improve the learning process. In the end, we test out our neural network by sending in XOR gate logic and seeing what happens!
Neural networks are a fairly advanced topic, so this tutorial series will (attempt!) to keep the complex theory to a minimum. Download the code below!...

Pembahasan KSNK Astronomi 2020, no. 03 - Pengamatan Asteroid Ganda
Agak susah sih no 3 ini. Karena udah megnaitkan banyak hal. Juga udah harus tau rumus sudut resolusi.
dont forget to like if you think it worth your like. subscribe biar gak ketinggalan update terbarunya. dan share biar lebih banyak orang yang dapat ilmunya :)

The Smallest Terrestrial Planet? Vesta - Science at NASA
Vesta, minor-planet designation 4 Vesta, is one of the largest objects in the asteroid belt, with a mean diameter of 525 kilometres (326 mi). It was discovered by the German astronomer Heinrich Wilhelm Olbers on 29 March 1807 and is named after Vesta, the virgin goddess of home and hearth from Roman mythology.
Vesta is the second-most-massive and second-largest body in the asteroid belt after the dwarf planet Ceres, and it contributes an estimated 9% of the mass of the asteroid belt. It is slightly larger than Pallas, though significantly more massive. Vesta is the last remaining rocky protoplanet (with a differentiated interior) of the kind that formed the terrestrial planets. Numerous fragments of Vesta were ejected by collisions one and two billion years ago that left two enormous crat...

Solar system, assemblage consisting of the Sun—an average star in the Milky Way Galaxy—and those bodies orbiting around it: 8 (formerly 9) planets with about 210 known planetary satellites (moons); countless asteroids, some with their own satellites; comets and other icy bodies
Composition of the solar system
Located at the centre of the solar system and influencing the motion of all the other bodies through its gravitational force is the Sun, which in itself contains more than 99 percent of the mass of the system. The planets, in order of their distance outward from the Sun, are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Four planets—Jupiter through Neptune—have ring systems, and all but Mercury and Venus have one or more moons. Pluto had been officially listed among the planets since it was discovered in 1930 orbiting beyond Neptune, but in 1992 an icy object was discovered still farther from the Sun than Pluto. Many other such discoveries followed, including an object named Eris that appears to be at least as large as Pluto. It became apparent that Pluto was simply one of the larger members of this new group of objects, collectively known as the Kuiper belt. Accordingly, in August 2006 the International Astronomical Union (IAU), the organization charged by the scientific community with classifying astronomical objects, voted to revoke Pluto’s planetary status and place it under a new classification called dwarf planet.

Download the code below!

Numerous fragments of Vesta were ejected by collisions one and two billion years ago that left two enormous craters occupying much of Vesta's southern hemisphere. Debris from these events has fallen to Earth as howardite–eucrite–diogenite (HED) meteorites, which have been a rich source of information about Vesta.
Vesta is the brightest asteroid visible from Earth. Its maximum distance from the Sun is slightly greater than the minimum distance of Ceres from the Sun, though its orbit lies entirely within that of Ceres.
NASA's Dawn spacecraft entered orbit around Vesta on 16 July 2011 for a one-year exploration and left orbit on 5 September 2012 en route to its final destination, Ceres. Researchers continue to examine data collected by Dawn for additional insights into the formation and history of Vesta.
History
Heinrich Olbers discovered Pallas in 1802, the year after the discovery of Ceres. He proposed that the two objects were the remnants of a destroyed planet. He sent a letter with his proposal to the English astronomer William Herschel, suggesting that a search near the locations where the orbits of Ceres and Pallas intersected might reveal more fragments. These orbital intersections were located in the constellations of Cetus and Virgo. Olbers commenced his search in 1802, and on 29 March 1807 he discovered Vesta in the constellation Virgo—a coincidence, because Ceres, Pallas, and Vesta are not fragments of a larger body. Because the asteroid Juno had been discovered in 1804, this made Vesta the fourth object to be identified in the region that is now known as the asteroid belt. The discovery was announced in a letter addressed to German astronomer Johann H. Schröter dated 31 March. Because Olbers already had credit for discovering a planet (Pallas; at the time, the asteroids were considered to be planets), he gave the honor of naming his new discovery to German mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss, whose orbital calculations had enabled astronomers to confirm the existence of Ceres, the first asteroid, and who had computed the orbit of the new planet in the remarkably short time of 10 hours. Gauss decided on the Roman virgin goddess of home and hearth, Vesta.
Name
Vesta was the fourth asteroid to be discovered, hence the number 4 in its formal designation. The name Vesta, or national variants thereof, is in international use with two exceptions: Greece and China. In Greek, the name adopted was the Hellenic equivalent of Vesta, Hestia (4 Εστία); in English, that name is used for 46 Hestia (Greeks use the name "Hestia" for both, with the minor-planet numbers used for disambiguation). In Chinese, Vesta is called the 'hearth-god(dess) star', 灶神星 zàoshénxīng, in contrast to the goddess Vesta, who goes by her Latin name.
Upon its discovery, Vesta was, like Ceres, Pallas, and Juno before it, classified as a planet and given a planetary symbol. The symbol representing the altar of Vesta with its sacred fire and was designed by Gauss. In Gauss's conception, this was drawn Gauss's version of the astronomical symbol for Vesta; in its modern form, it is modern version of the astronomical symbol for Vesta.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Tenth planet is a term formerly applied to possible planets beyond Neptune, before the reclassification of Pluto. It may also refer to:
The Tenth Planet, the Doctor Who serial
The Tenth Planet, a novel by Leo Melamed
The Tenth Planet, a 1952 sci-fi radio play
3 Juno, an asteroid that was the tenth object to be identified as a planet before the asteroids were demoted
2060 Chiron, claimed by some to be the tenth planet upon discovery
Charon, regarded together with Pluto as a binary planet
