Sexual abuse, also referred to as molestation, is forcing undesired sexual behavior by one person upon another. When that force is immediate, of short duration, or infrequent, it is called sexual assault. The offender is referred to as a sexual abuser or (often pejoratively) molester. The term also covers any behavior by any adult or older adolescent towards a child to stimulate any of the involved sexually. When the victim is younger than the age of consent, it is referred to as statutory rape or child sexual abuse.
Forms
Spousal
Spousal sexual abuse is a form of domestic violence. When the abuse involves forced sex, it may constitute rape upon the other spouse, depending on the jurisdiction, and may also constitute an assault.
Child sexual abuse
Child sexual abuse is a form of child abuse in which a child is abused for the sexual gratification of an adult or older adolescent. It includes direct sexual contact, the adult or otherwise older person engaging indecent exposure (of the genitals, female nipples, etc.) to a child with intent to gratify their own sexual desires or to intimidate or groom the child, asking or pressuring a child to engage in sexual activities, displaying pornography to a child, or using a child to produce child pornography.

Child sexual abuse is a traumatic experience that impacts the lives of survivors long after the abuse has stopped. In fact, survivors are significantly more likely to develop mental health disorders, attempt suicide, or engage in unhealthy relationships later in life. The trauma symptoms survivors might experience are far-reaching and can create major challenges for survivors as they try to move forward.

Today we are going to talk about child on child sexual abuse, because it's not often talked about and there are so many issues and misconceptions out there, which is why today I want to offer 10 MUST KNOW FACTS, from shame, to abuse cycles, and trauma, to parental response and so much more. And really quickly on the topic of trauma I want to remind you all that my new book Traumatized is available now, in it I talk about what trauma is, how it can feel, and of course, how we can heal. Unfortunately, children abuse other children. This could be because they themselves are being sexually abused by someone, or have viewed sexually explicit materials and are acting out what they saw. This isn't commonly talked about because it can be hard to imagine it happening, and even harder to view a child as a perpetrator. But it is common, and therefore it's important that we discuss it, which is why I am going to explain the 10 must know facts about it, so let's get into it.
This video will cover child on child abuse, sexual abuse for children, child abuse therapy, what is child abuse, child abuse help, sexual abuse support for kids, what is sexual abuse, childhood trauma, childhood ptsd, ptsd and much more.
10 Facts About Child on Child Sexual Abuse:
1:45 • child on child sexual abuse IS sexual abuse.
3:59 • age of the perpetrator isn't the only important or defining factor.
5:19 • parents and other adults don't know what to say or do about it
6:27 • talking about this will help
8:11 • getting our child into therapy right away is best
9:36 • shame and disgust can come along with this type of abuse (really any type of abuse)
11:00 • hypersexuality is often a result of childhood sexual abuse
12:11 • even though many children were first abused themselves, they are still responsible for the pain they caused
13:38 • if a mandated reporter like a therapist or a teacher finds out about the abuse, child protective services will get involved and investigate
15:36 • we can heal from this!
sexual activity between children that occurs without consent, without equality (mentally, physically, or in age), or as a result of physical or emotional coercion.

In this video, we hear from a clinical therapist about the connection between child sexual abuse and anxiety. Anxiety—often existing in a cycle alongside depression—is a common long-term symptom experienced by survivors of child sexual abuse. This video sheds light on the ways in which child sexual abuse can lead to anxiety, both through the trauma of the experience and the long-lasting psychological effects of abuse.
In addition to offering valuable insights and advice, we provide a range of resources that may be helpful to survivors of child sexual abuse who are living with anxiety and depression. From talking with a medical professional to practicing mindfulness, these resources offer practical and actionable steps that survivors can take to support their own healing and wellbeing.
Whether you are a survivor yourself or seeking to deepen your understanding of this issue, this video offers a wealth of valuable information and guidance. Join us as we work together to build greater awareness and support for survivors of child sexual abuse and anxiety.

Can you numb the effects of childhood sexual abuse and trauma your entire life? What options are available when you need support for childhood trauma as an adult? The good news is we can heal no matter our age and we can stop the cycle of abuse from affecting future generations and communities. Holly Perreault is a survivor of childhood sexual and emotional abuse. She first advocated for others at just fourteen years old by testifying against her abuser. Her belief is that finding your voice is the first step to breaking the cycles of abuse and living a life you love. Holly is a coach, advocate and storyteller. In 2018, Holly left her leadership job in the tech industry to relocate from the United States to Northern Ireland. Holly will soon graduate from Ulster University with her BSc in Therapeutic Communications and Counselling and co-facilitates the first Adult Survivor of Child Abuse (ASCA) meeting in Northern Ireland. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

1 in 5 children is sexually abused before age 18—1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys. That’s approximately 1,035,000 youth in the United States who are abused each year.
The overwhelming majority of these children are abused by people they know—80% of child sexual abuse is perpetrated by someone the child knows and trusts, and at least 20% of the time, perpetrators are family members.

Unfortunately, children abuse other children. This could be because they themselves are being sexually abused by someone, or have viewed sexually explicit materials and are acting out what they saw.
